    I love Creepshow and Maximum Overdrive as opposed to Sleepwalkers which is absolutely horrible. You certainly nailed this one! 😼🙀

      I would take either of those movies over Sleepwalkers ANY day of the week. I have a feeling most sane people would agree lol

    Oh my gosh, your costumes are too good! They used a song by Enya for this movie called Boadicea, it's one of my favorite songs of hers, it's just kinda creepy in a great way.

      I missed that Enya track! I was likely too baffled by… everything else that was going on to pick up on that.

    Good morning, Mr. Doyle. I like to think a cat scratched King and he said, huh, bet I can make a crappy movie out of that. I mean, I adore King but this movie had to involve a resented contractual requirement or a lost bet or something. That being said, sleepwalkers being a prototype for the True Knot is pretty cool. Looking forward to Gerald’s Game. The book and the Flanagan movie (who also did the bad ass Doctor Sleep film) are both fantastic. Seriously, just let Flanagan and Darabont direct all the King adaptations. Have an awesome week!

    • @agreatundertaking
      @agreatundertaking  Рік тому +1

      Hahaha! Yeah, I think you’re onto something there. King has found inspiration in unremarkable, mundane occurrences on a number of occasions. Only this time the results didn’t quite pan out.
      Agreed! Flanagan and Darabont should get exclusivity. That’s it, I’m starting a petition. Have a good one, Paul!

    i actually took the Egyptian imagry to be more about cats being protectors. they were considered guardians of the underworld and guardians of households in Egyptian mythology

      @@agreatundertaking of course of course! Thank you for giving nuanced opinions on our beloved author. He's been one of my biggest lifelong hyperfixations (mythology - especially Egyptian and felines being two others lmao)
      I'd love to hear your thoughts someday on the possibility of Tak, Pennywise, The Outsider and Ardelia Lortz all being the same species at different life cycles. I imagine Pennywise's eggs cracking, the outsider being (potentially ?) it's youngest form, as it eats and grows fat it changes into something akin to Tak. Idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ❤️❤️ much love fellow traveler

    I hate to admit, that Sleepwalkers was a favourite of mine, seeing it first in 1992 or 93 when I was 10/11 (Yeah, talk about some wholesome themes, and narrative in this film for a damn 10 year old)
    I knew (even at 10) it was kinda shitty...but it was at least a "who greenlit this insanity" kind of shitty, and that's the kind of thing I can totally get behind, and then subsequently never again admit to having heard of, let alone enjoyed.
    and it had just the right amount of "I can't believe this video store is renting this to a 10 year old" I was looking for when I needed to select 7 vhs tapes for 7 bucks for 7 days and I was searching almost exclusively in the horror section.
    also...
    It's obvious you're not Church, I mean, I don't remember Church ever being an 100% authentic and not chroma keyed Egyption tomb....
    ....Checkmate Haters!

      HA! I’ll have you know that I was flown to location on my private jet to film this video, and that is in fact an actual ancient Egyptian tomb and NOT a poorly rendered green screen image! 😂
      And I get it man. I used to (and still do) have an affinity for a number of what are now considered “bad” movies. It really is a matter of timing/time, in combination with nostalgia that determines how we feel about any given film.
      I’ve heard bands before that I didn’t care for, and then went back to them and found I suddenly enjoyed their music. And of course that works the other way too. It’s all about when we see or hear it and what headspace we are in.

      You always say what my tongue in cheek ramblings are getting at, with such astute clarity!
      and I never doubted that tomb for even a second...
      but then again, I enjoyed SleepWalkers... so take my mental prowess for what little it's worth...

    The first movie I ever took a girl to see on a date was "Sleepwalkers." Can't tell you how awkward it got when they showed the Alice Krige character making out (and more) with her own son in the first 15 minutes.

      @agreatundertaking  Рік тому

      @DarinRWagner Рік тому

      @@agreatundertaking Yeah, I picked a real winner for a first date movie. I remember thinking, when I saw this in the theater in 1992, that the special effects were okay-to-good. Back morphs were still relatively new, but we knew how they were done and hadn't quite gotten tired of them yet. The movie hasn't aged well, but I remember falling in lust with Madchen Amick after watching the film. I think I saw her in a Mad Men episode many, many years later and she still "has it" in my view.

    I have not seen your videos in my feed for months so I visited your channel and I see that I have missed a few. I have some catching up to do. I've been trying to work 16 hour days 7 days per week doing Walmart Spark. I lost my job as a web developer 1.5 years ago and I have not been able to get another since. I apply to jobs that I would easily get in the past, but this time I'm not getting interviews. I'm not sure why. Anyway, glad to see you're still making videos. I thought maybe you had stopped.

    This film is SO BAD but where else do you get a scene where someone catches on fire by being scratched to death by cats? I love the idea of these terrible incestuous cat people inspiring the much scarier true knot though. And I'm in awe of that person who extrapolated an entire backstory for the Sleepwalkers out of nothing. They definitely put more thought into the Sleepwalkers' origin than King did.
