Mr. Aronoff, just letting you know. You’re one of my biggest influences and have inspired me over many years. Definitely on my Mount Rushmore. Thank you sir!
As much as I love every episode, this is my favorite. Desmond (in my humble opinion) does not get the credit he should. Such a great writer and as I have just learned much more.
If you close your eyes while listening to this excellent interview, you can almost imagine that you are listening to Kenny Aronoff interviewing Christopher Walken!
@@KennyAronoffOfficial Aww thanks Kenny! 🤗🎁 Merry Christmas!! 🎄🙏 You are playing with Joe Satriani on this 2024 tour, correct? It would be great to see you both together again!! 🥰 I am waiting to buy my ticket since y'all are going to Milwaukee instead of Madison. I'm a chicken heart to go over that other way by myself. Tis true. 🤦♀️But l am also doing some heavy duty house hunting + selling my condo. So if it turns out well as they say it should, l want that front row seat again, and hire a short limo! I don't need a stretch! I just wanna get there + feel safe!! 🤣🙌 Keep Smiling + Enjoy Your Journey!! ☺️✌️❤️🦋🙏P.S. l hope you guys finally got some of that green clover box Bag Balm/ Udder balm for Joe's rough fingers....and for anybody else's too! Take care now, Brightest Blessings!😉✌️
As a songwriter I learned crucial elements about Desmonds process that had not occurred to me prior. Very interesting guy. Great job as always Kenny! 👏🥁🎵🎶
WOW!!! That interview could have been 2 hours long. Love the story about Desmond buying his mother a house on Miami beach. I'm astounded you played on "Shake Your Bon-Bon"!!! We listened to that last wknd. You are as good an interviewer as you are a drummer. Netflix is going to be calling you for a show. I know it!
Dude has written and co-written so many great songs. His catalogue of songs is like the soundtrack to my life, it it goes beyond that as I even like his songs by artists I wouldn't usually listen to. Another great session Kenny. Love your channel Brah
I had to sleep on this and come back for a second listen. I know KS was involved in the Nine Lives record and Silverchair. I believe he is referencing him at the 9:00 mark about being in NY.. in regards to his songs making it on the record. I am now curious how that all transpired. Sounds like Kev had a part in advancing those songs Des had help compose. Maybe I’m wrong. Interesting.
Another belter Kenny. This channel and what Sunset Studios have done as well will keep the stories and memories of class musicians for the future. Great to watch, and always something you can take away from them. Looking forward to my catch up session over the Xmas period on quite a few of your other sessions. Keep knocking ‘em out. Thanks as always, Karl
@@KennyAronoffOfficial Very cool, nothing like two Drum Angels talkin' shop. Both of you are very diverse, eclectic, and enthusiastic drummers whose love for all types of music shows. Cheers
Desmond Child is royalty when it comes to rock songwriting. The 80s belong to him if we talk about Hard Rock. ''Heaven's On Fire'' influenced Bon Jovi. ''Livin' On a Prayer'' influenced Alice who wanted that same sound. So on and so on. Joan jett, Aerosmith, Cher, etc... The man is still going today and now, the hits are legion but for me, Desmond Child will always be my musical identity from the 80s. You can't beat the sequence from 88 to 91 where he also worked a lot with Diane Warren. Even his demos were part of the soundtrack of my life ("Sword & Stone", "Time Traveler", "Love Is War", "Edge Of a Broken Heart"). The name is cool. The character is cool. The man is cool. his way of seeing life is cool and his outspokenness is even cooler! He has his own way of putting a person in their place that I admire. I loved his songs so much that I studied them all to the point of knowing each of his little characteristics. These little things that made Diane Warren say in an interview: ''That's a Desmond thing'' (stopping the music for a second and blasting the final chorus into a higher note, the surprise modulations, the ''Nah, nah, nah, hey, hey, hey, tut, tut, tut..., the long bridges of four phrases which modulate, the voice which rises an octave, etc...). I wish we could go back to the 80s and relive more songs like the ones Desmond wrote. I want another ''Poison'', another ''I Hate Myself For Loving You'', another ''Emotional Fire'', Who Wants To Be Lonely'', ''These Times Are Hard For Lovers'', etc. .. Thank you Desmond Child for everything. My life wouldn't be the same without your songs. By the way, i just bought your book on Amazon. Can't wiait to read it tomorrow.
That story about this guy sneaking in the back door and crawling around on his knees like he's in Metal Gear Solid, this is why Gene Simmons had to post guards. j/k
Kenny you let the artists talk and answer the question. Great interviewer.
Thanks so much.. : )

Desmond child is a legend, Just look at the songs he co-wrote and produced. I've always been a big fan of his.
Yeah.. He didn't just write one great song.. He wrote many great songs. He worked his butt off doing it and is still doing it.
I wonder what his royalties are today and how much they get screwed from Spotify and the other music platforms.@@KennyAronoffOfficial
