This is very helpful because I am "stuck" in a couple of edits right now, but the reminder that done is better than perfect is a relaxing idea. Relaxes me by the idea that I don't have to be a perfectionist
Dude! So awesome, this is so refreshing to see on UA-cam after so many lighting suggestions from bigger budget filmmakers . Your stuff is incredible, looking forward to seeing what's to come :)
Typically yes. Because you’ll get weird color casts from non film lights. The other lights you see are either exit signs, emergency lights, or outdoor street lights that we couldn’t turn off
My question to you is, in the BTS shots, especially in the first scene of him wrapping his hands, it looks like all the lights in the whole gym are turned on and it is very bright. How did you get the final image to look so dark and moody?
Post grading and coloring my friend. He has a final look in mind, and the color grading process helps polish that look. A camera needs light, and lighting is wha sets you apart. Hope this helps 👍🏾
This may be a silly question, but how come the behind the scenes shows the place so lit up when the resulting video is dark and moody. Is it dark and the Behind the scenes just shot at real high ISO ? or do you shoot bright and then bring the levels down in post ?
gotcha, so in reality it looked similar to the exposure on the camera you were shooting with. BTW .. about to get your Cinema Mastery program .. i LOVE the look of your films. Specially the way you light them up.
so actually you used 3 lights ;) so instead of using your phone and your laptop you can just use 2 of the aputure mc as they're quite cheap and you even have all color possibilities... not to mention they fit on a tripod ;)
I think my problem is that I finally have a good amount of lights and when I get to a set I overthink the hell of what I want to do because of all the lights I have.
Gold, pure gold. Thanks man. This is really great filming education. Great film and great tutorial👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
❤️❤️❤️

THANKS A LOT 😭❤️
Amaze!

In the gym, I saw other lights on but the end footage was dark. When entering a space like this should we cut all the internal lights off?
Typically yes. Because you’ll get weird color casts from non film lights. The other lights you see are either exit signs, emergency lights, or outdoor street lights that we couldn’t turn off
What would be a cheaper/diy alternative to the aperture light? Thanks🙏🏽
Aputure has a cheaper light that’s basically the same thing, the 100d. Besides that I would look at Godox

Did you shoot this in c-log?
The spoon effect 🔥🔥 Was that a pro mist on your sigma to get that glow?
Yep pro mist 1/8
@@EricThayne looking smooth!! Love it!!
What the heck, a spoon, a t-shirt and other stuff to light the scene? That's the most genius thing i've ever seen xD
Me showing up to every shoot after watching this video: HOLDING SPOON

What filtration was used on the lens?
Pro mist 1/8

Just different exposures in camera. The bts camera is exposed brighter so you can see what’s going on

What's your favorite cinematography hack??

One *film light :) yes, those are great lights too
I think my problem is that I finally have a good amount of lights and when I get to a set I overthink the hell of what I want to do because of all the lights I have.
With lighting oftentimes less is more :)
lol i guess u never knew the meaning of less gear.. its a good video, but...
Video is sick, but I like how you say it's about the art not the gear and then you use a $2,000 camera, a $1,000 lens, and $1,000 light.
