    I kept seeing other content creators saying "I said this forever, I knew 9.5 was bad from the start", yaddah yaddah. But WE KNEW. WE KNEW this was Mast's doing. You've been a 9.5 truther forever, so I don't think it's ego when you claim ownership of this tbh lol.
    Full disclosure though, I really enjoyed 9.5 when it first launched. I thought early season 9 up to 9.4 was OUTRAGEOUSLY bursty, and I am not really looking forward to a return to that super fast TTK. I think the updates immediately following 9.5 were what ruined it, as they started increasing attack on some items and trying to bring back burst. I'm really hoping that Hirez finds the middle ground between 9.4 and 9.5 that you mentioned in your video. Either way, midseason is CRAZY SPICY now, and we like spice

      Tbh a lot of others (me included) have been saying the same. The pros have been crying about 9.5 since 9.6. Me and my group of friends actually stopped playing smite a couple patches after 9.5 because we just couldn’t be bothered playing a game where we aren’t rewarded for making good plays anymore.
      I agree early season 9 was really burst but I don’t think it was bad across the board. I think warriors were too strong and ability hunters were too strong. Assassins were only good into mages (as they should be) but tended to get outpressured in general by warriors in the jungle. Now that there’s a lot more mechanisms for assassins in the mid lane, I feel like reverting back to pre-9.5 will probably add a lot of variety and fun in the early game.

      I hated 9.5. I hated that you got rewarded for sitting under tower and letting the tower protect you. It was boring. Not being able to make big players and snowball was boring. It turned the game into farming simulator. This revert is the best news I've heard about Smite in years.

    With the revert of the 9.5 changes (assuming gods go back to more or less how squishy they were pre 9.5) I can bring back the fenrir mid, level 2 fenrir would almost always get me first blood & a snowball from very early.
    Ps @Mast please play fenrir mid after the 9.5 reverts, trust me it was viable pre 9.5 and it should be viable again after the reverts.
    Jump > stun > auto > brutalise > auto > DEAD 😂

    I really hope they implement some new comeback mechanics though. Games are already as snowbally as they can ever be and now that you can be oneshot again at lvl 1 is gonna be worse if they don't do some balancing around it. I'm not against the revert, since I think there's way too much PVE for the win rn, I just hope they will make so that games will have the proper lenght for a MOBA. 10 minutes f6 could become the standard if they don't do anything about it.

      Games at least pre revert are WAY less snowbally than they ever have been, you getting dumpstered doesn't mean they're snowbally, it means you can't play without being ahead

      No more comeback mechanics, if you lose early and fail to make it back your opponent shouldn't be punished for it.

      @@AimbotFreak At high level gameplay is currently impossible to make a comeback unless the enemy team throws hard. It's because of all the PVE. You luckily win one or two fights early and you start invading the enemy jungle and suddenly you become unreachable. There, you have your 10 minutes f6. I'm not saying the winning team should be punished for winning, I'm just saying that, at least right now, late game is non existing. It's not a MOBA if you can't afford to play a late game character and lose lane by default without losing the game entirely. It's not a MOBA if you can't sacrifice at least a bit of the early game to make a comeback in the late game, if, obviously, you can play from behind. Playing from behind doesn't mean you have to hope the enemy team throws, as it currently is. It means you have a chance to win a game with your own skill even if you don't have a great early game.

      @@HauntingGround4ever Why are all 3 lanes and jungle losing in higher gameplay? Sounds like too many people in a place they don't belong. Jungle PvE is distributed. equally on both sides. The only thing required to balance it out is Choosing to steal jungle farm should make it so the opponent has the opening to take your jungle farm on the other side, farming a happy meal opponent should have no value. This is the only balance required.

    I know no one else cares about this, but I'm glad they are making these changes because some of the achievements are almost impossible to get (3 kills with Anhur/Chiron/Ymir ult and 1 shot someone with Kuku ult) and I hope the changes will make it slightly more possible.

    Can’t wait for 9.5 revert. Watching people sit under tower making games last 15-20 minutes longer has made the game boring. And hearing everyone saying ttk doesn’t allow for outplay are all the people who will suffer because they aren’t as mechanically skilled, their macro is worse, and they have bad positioning. Outplay isn’t an option for these players to begin with. I look forward to a faster paced smite game! Thanks for the vid!

    I'm not really eager for the 9.5 revert. Before 9.5 I stopped playing because I didn't like the situation the game was in. In solo lane, the meta was dominated by extreme pvp focus to the extent of ignoring waves to hit the god next to them. In duo, metas were decided by extremely high pressure picks that dumped relics and kits on wave meets to secure a first blood over anything else. It is not as though these things couldn't be played around, it was that they encouraged very passive and unfun modes of play for whichever side did not have the early pressure advantage, leading to situations where your 5 minute pregame led into a first 10 minutes of afking around structures, at which point your team might f6 before you've even gotten a chance to truly play.
    I know a lot of Smite players complain about PvE, but this is a game with arena in it, and if I did not want PvE to matter I would simply play that.

      @@ArcticDrake It is. Honestly this kind of analysis is both my opinion and only really matters when you've dedicated a lot of time and effort into learning the game. Most of the Smite playerbase is uninterested in playing at a high level, and probably just wants to make kills happen as much as they can regardless of mode. I get that, but still, I wanted to put my viewpoint out as well.

    I think. They should only hit the god hp and prots. They dont need to touch the minions. I feel like the minions are fine as they are now. Tower damage pen should be gone. I agree, big changes.
    Edit: my wording is bad, i want them to lower the tower pen. Not remove it. Just enough so they are still a threat but can be tanked still

      They can be tanked right now! I know it’ll be harder when people are squishier, but that’s the point. Only if you actually build defense should you be allowed to tank tower shots. Besides that, it should feel terrible to get hit by tower shots.

    I started Smite late season 8 and was still making my way through each God, I got melted from all angles in a matter of seconds and enjoyed the game regardless, but now I'm slightly better and looking forward to the pre 9.5 game, melt or get melted the Baron and his Bride are gonna be fun.

    I think the idea that faster TTK is more skill expressive is just false. Objectively having to hit more of your stuff and outplay your opponent more often is more skill expressive and trends away from getting lucky shots. Also right now with how much cc has been added to the game and right now the TTK other than level 1-3 is already like 2 seconds anyway and the average cc is 1.8 so people are gonna get even more one shot. Now I think 9.5 wasn’t perfect because I think the health buff should have been consistent like 20% inall phases instead of 40 early and like 15-20 late . But I think a full revert is a mistake and might actually finish off smite 1

      High level players disagree with that sentiment. I’ve already made multiple comments across different videos as to why the increase in TTK lead to a decrease in skill expression so lll just summarize my points here.
      It made the game more forgiving for people who are not as skilled. Players who have bad positioning, don’t have as high game knowledge/skill are able to eat hits and stay alive in situations that they would not have pre 9.5.
      It made build paths and damage god pools stale. An indirect effect of 9.5 was kickstarting a meta where the same rotation of gods & items are the only viable ones to play. Many gods and build types have not been viable because their kits/identity cannot be used efficiently.
      It didn’t achieve its intended effect in mitigating snowball. In giving a % increase to health and prots across the board you also scale people who are ahead more. Even with the introduction of comeback mechanics and bounties it is still hard to get kills on players who are ahead. Many times resulting in full team rotations having to be made on one person who has gotten ahead and hyper farmed. Making everyone more tanky has lowered the pace of the game and interfered with the identity of Smite as a MOBA. Matches are the longest they have been on average and the game feels boring and stale. All you do is farm, play under tower and do practically nothing until late game. There are little to no consequences for bad play/positioning in current Smite.
      It shouldn’t take multiple ability rotations to take someone out, and people should definitely not live perfect ability combos, ganks, etc, just for the reason that everyone is “more tanky.” Smites player count has been declining in large part for that reason. The core identity of smite, especially conquest has been fast paced, action filled, matches that has not been the case for a long time now.

    The minion changes feel good now, but they didn’t in 9.5
    There was even less power in 9.5, so they buffed up starter items, and some other magical items specifically a bit since then to help with wave clear and camp clear. But in 9.5, it was rough! 3:46

    Set is one of those characters in that weird spot where Gold players are trash with him, but he's broken in Masters and higher, so Hi-Rez doesn't want to nerf him because they like to pander to casuals.
    I'm only Plat, so I'm not really one to talk, but I think the game should be balanced around Masters and higher.

    What's the point of doing all this one and an half month before the Smite 2 launch? I thought they were fully focused on Smite 2. I like this change, but...shouldn't they prioritise other...things?

      it's because the midseason patch got a ton of outrage (undeserved imo) and this will basically give people a big update like they want while also getting to experiment with these changes before implementing them in smite 2

      ​@MastYT sure thing, but they're "wasting" lots of time and energy to do just that, balancing all gods and items...i think they could've just semi-revert the movement speed nerfs they made over the years on the items, it would've costed less time to balance everything, and people would've been exited anyway (everyone loves movement speed)
      Or, just put those things on Smite 2 directly, increasing the hype...noone expects a balanced game anyway at the start, so why not add something like that and see how it goes directly there?
      Still love this anyway, 9.5 killed a lot of fun

      Why? Because Smite as a whole is losing interest with poor decisions made over the past 2 years. Smite 2 was announced way too soon and they also ruined the game for many players since patch 9.5. The remaining Smite player base right now is split in half, half is interested in Smite 2 and half to Smite 1. Hirez is full panic mode rn. They have to bring players back one way or another. This is their last hurrah before Valve's Deadlock comes into play.

      ​@@lorezioezio6917counterpoint, whilst smite one still has a reasonable player base it serves as a great testing ground for them to understand balance better in smite two, they can really push the limits of what they thought was okay in smite one and use the results of this high experimentallism to build the design philosophy of smite two
      Does it take time to implement these changes in S1? Yes, does that save time building. A better S2? Absolutely. Therefore it is not a waste at all

    Reading these comments almost makes me wanna refund smite two founder edition 😅
    The revert is good but I think that like in most games if the ttk is too fast it’ll just be abused and cause a burst meta bs look to wow to other mobas and in cases where ttk is too quick imo it does remove a good amount of skill expression. Now on the other hand smite made it so easy for a bad player to avoid dying due to their bad balance that it also negatively impacted skill expression so imo I’m glad they’re reverting but I’m also gonna keep a bit of skepticism

    I'm ngl. This kinda kills smite for me. One shots with no counter play are simply not fun to play into. Lategame we have enough tools to handle high burst. Early game that is not the case. This change is complete garbage. The number of CC chain into deaths pre-lv 5 is going to be absolutely cancer. Unless they intend to remove CC or reduce it from many abilities the game is going to feel absolutely terrible.

      I have been playing since year 2. Smite was absolutely terrible imo from year 8-9.5 due to the amount of bullshit one shot deaths.

      @@Rietthat’s simply not true. Over the years powercreep changed smite over time and TTK got shorter and shorter until it reached nearly unplayable amounts. Pre 9.5 was one of the times that the community was complaining the most about how the game felt. So they buffed health to deal with the powercreep. Saying it was the same for years before 9.5 is straight up uninformed

    Oh god Hirez, there was already barely enough room in his videos to fit his ego in before this announcement. Looks like another looong Mast break starts now. When he’s good, he’s good. When he’s arrogant, it’s insufferable. So many other good streamers who deserve attention.

      They didn’t only make people tankier. They also removed a lot of power from items, and that won’t be reverted. The TTK should (in theory) still be longer than 9.4, but shorter than it is now.
