What do you think of Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones as a duo? Would you like to see more?
Yes, please! It's everything i need in life right now!
Sure
A big YES!
They are rocking together. Yes, please
It's a no-brainer
I saw their father in concert in Kansas City in the early 1970s. As was the custom at the time, many in the audience were smoking pot and the smoke hung thickly in the air. About halfway through the concert, Ravi Shankar stopped the music and said, "You people disappoint me. I came here expecting to turn you on with my music. You came here already half turned on with something else." The smoke very quickly dissipated. Then, it was Ravi's masterful ragas and talas that carried us away.
Thank you for sharing that instance.
Wow thanks for sharing this wonderful story of the maestro
I do par take in both... but I must say, music deserves its own respect with the magic and potential in itself...it's a whole other high as a human.
Most do not understand the PURITY....
Cannabis although accepted today is a clarity blocker....
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I'm a Brazilian guy who has an unexplainable passion for India and it made me so happy to know Norah, whose work I appreciate a lot, was sister to a talented Indian musician.
Best regards from Brasil to this USA-India conexion.
:) yes, India is awesome. And we all love Brazil !
+José Jefferson Costa India very diverse cultural nation one among the member of BRICS countries
+José Jefferson Costa Eu gosto muito de Brazil tambem. viver la quase um ano. e pais do meu coracao.:)
+José Jefferson Costa So am I. I've been practising yoga for 15 years and love the indian culture. I'm paulista. Namaste. Um abraço!
+José Jefferson Costa India is awesome.Love India too. :) I am myself half Indian from my mother.
Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar are half sisters... Cool. What a talented and beautiful pair of ladies.
I agree they fit together
+Anthony Hamilton They both the genes of their father Pandit Ravi Shankar
they look very similar!
has nothing to do with genes. but with being around music and playing music from early age.
nonchablunt Nora wasn't around her father much growing up.
I hope this sister duo creates a lot more music together. This is fantastic!
@Pavan Gaikwad ...... I hope so
i loved your music too.. 💯💯
I think Anoushka and Norah are half-sisters with a common biological father.
@@davidmcclellan9621 Yes. They are daughters of Late Pt. Ravi Shankar, a music legend, various award winner including the Grammy award and the Bharat Ratna. Miss him.
This is the absolute sweetest combination of Western and Eastern music with the absolute sweetest pair of musicians.
They are sisters that's why :D
Christopher Singer try the Ravi Shankar, Zubin Mehta concertos on UA-cam. They’re a wonderful blend too.
and the band Shakti, with Zakir Hussein, John McLaughlin and various other wonderful musicians
:O/) **
I'm Portuguese and I was born in Goa in 27 october 1958 and I feel a connection with this sounds from India...and I love Norah Jones...
The great daughters of the legendary Ravi Shankar.
Half sisters actually... Pandit Ravishankar had his "branch offices" everywhere he went... What a fuckin' legend!! 😆🤣😁
@@pck85 not half sisters...they are step sisters
indrani sarma you are incorrect. They are both the biological daughters of Ravi Shankar. They have different mothers. Therefore they are half sisters.
Glad we straightened THAT out 😐 Now I can relax & enjoy the song -
@@jordansaintemarie is it?...but I thought when we have same mothers and different fathers then we are called half brothers and sisters...anyways thanks for the reply
Ravi Shankar's enduring gifts to the world: his music and his prodigiously talented and exquisitely beautiful daughters. Thank you, Ravi.
Adore Norah Jones and have always been asking myself "When will the sisters collaborate?!" So glad they did. The track's beautiful.
This is actually their second collaboration (as far as I know). They made a song 'Easy' which I like even more than this one :)
Sebastian Jimenez Thanks, Sebastian :)
+Preet Mendiratta they made three songs together - the third being The Sun Won't Set
Can't stop listening. I feel ashamed I discovered it four years later.
Absolutely stunning.
This song is very old i think from early 2000... but published on UA-cam in 2013... i remember i used to watch on mtv.
😍
I discovered it in 2020. I regret what I was doing before sadly.
I'm finding this during Coronavirus timeout in 2020
Stewart Low me too oh my god hhhhhhhh I feel ashamed
They have their father's gift. Beauty
and musical talent.
I immigrated from India to America when I was four. I am now twenty-four. Still there are traces of images of India that linger in my mind like a raindrop. And however far I am from India, these songs bring it and its streets, rice-fields, and ocean rushing back to me.
Thanks!
and now? still? another decade on?
Traces of you
linger like a tear drop
Fresh upon the air
My heart sings for you
Play me like a rain cloud
Sounds upon the air
Anoushka Shankar is so gorgeous! What a true Indian beauty!
I think the two look amazingly similar considering that they had different mothers from different ethnic backgrounds
Norah too is beautiful
Whoa I've never come across someone else who spells their name as Madhulica instead of Madhulika. I spell my name Madhulica too 😊
She is only half Indian and half British, and spent her youth in America.
They should record more songs together.... a whole album!
yes
Yes, indeed.
+Lozie82 they have ^_^
Yaa
Yes
This is a beautiful and really well made video. I love it, Ravi produced two extremely musically talented beauties, not to mention how revolutionary and influential he was himself.
They're both so gorgeous and talented their father must be proud
He is dead but maybe he is watching them, from the next dimension. Maybe . Maybe he moved on.
I have to say that I just came to this video because I dreamed last night that I was having Cítara lesson, wich just made my mind. I'm glad to discovery this video. Thank you Anoushka!
Brilliant just like their Legendary father
Very True
This song is like a positive fresh air in a sunny morning .. 😍😍
Arguably one of the most beautiful songs written within my lifetime.
We just played this in my Music Research & Bibliography (graduate) class, after a long bunny-trail discussion lol. Our teacher is Persian, so we gets lot of exposure to music NOT strictly from the European tradition, which I love. And I'm SO glad she showed this to us cuz now I'm going to explore these sisters' collaboration more:D
try ua-cam.com/video/sNJJRxUvNKw/v-deo.html & be blown away. anoushka's entire set at glastonbury.
Three years later and I am still coming back to this song
One of the positive ways to start the day... 😊
Wonderful piece. It's beautiful seeing the two sisters vibing together.
How blessed are we all to live at a time where we can listen to such beautiful music.
Awesome indeed, music of the sacred scientists
This is absolutely amazing! I hope to see more. The guy playing drums is awesome as well!
The percussion instrument is called Tabla :)
His name is Tanmoy Bose a living legend. He has collaborated with Pandit Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar and Amjad Ali Khan to name a few !
Love it! Love you Anoushka Shankar!
Wonderful musicians, Anoushka and Norah both are amazing, good to see them in this instru-vocal duet.
Gursharan Singh Dilruba the most talented and so beautiful and cool Both sisters.
Both are real Sisters!
you can't be that beautiful and talented at the same time. and two in the same family. that's unfair
i dont know why i m crying...its like i m being born through music once again..
I also cried
Happy birthday!!
Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar, half-sisters, daughters of the same father, the Indian master Ravin Shankar (1920-2012), musician (Sitar), Norah grew up with her mother in the United States of America, and in recent years returned contact with his father, however Anoushka, who lived between London and Delhi, was always closer to him; I also taught him to play the Sitar. Ravin Shankar working alongside the ex-Beatle George Harrison, when he went to India to approach Eastern culture, which embraced the Hare Krishna tradition, particularly the mantra chanting and used as private meditation called japa-mala.
It's Ravi Shankar.
Also, Kolkata and Chennai more; I guess.
@@shreyaguha5180 yes
Shreya Guha that’s true
Is this real? Because that’s amazing and I never knew this!?
While the world is at war full of hatred and blame!! Seeing his is what makes life worth living when you see the beautiful become even more beautiful!! ;-)
+tom silversurfer It is so wonderful to see how much respect is given by the people here, for this incredibly beautiful song. I wish the whole world could be as accepting of what makes us different, and yet makes us all loving and accepting of one another. All music is meant to be healing for the body and soul.
I think it’s a bit sad but memorable to see many comments from years before. Many accounts that go far back in the comments are deactivated. You posted this 3 years ago, wow!
Just beautiful music. No words. :)
Only today I found out Norah and Anoushka are sisters. From diferent mothers though. Blessed DNA.
The music started playing in my head out of nowhere so I just came back to this masterpiece. The music industry needs more songs like this. Truly ahead of its time.
Just absolutely beautiful....thank you Nitin Sawney......
That they are half sisters gives me goosebumps hearing this - their connection is innate, not learned from first days of childhood. What a gift they have - thank you for sharing it with us!
The best guitarist and best voice.
Are two angels coming together.
It is perfect.
The instrument Anoushka is playing is called - Sitar. :)
Tanmoy Bose should also be recognized :)
Thank you
And he's such a happy person :) gives off so many +ve vibes!
Quand deux merveilles se rencontrent, le résultat ne peut être que magnifique.
Genius! Beautiful and mrsmerising ... Norah's voice and Anoushka playing sitar ... perfect accompaniments! Brilliant!!☆
I am getting goosebumps, I adore the beautiful Nora Jones and her beautiful sister. ❤ I love the duo brilliant!!
Hello from Mauritius! Tomorrow I am going to Anoushka Shankar’s concert. #dreamcomingtrue 💞
Incredible story of family, essence and passion for their shared soul of music dedicated to their father. So beautiful! Culture exhibited at its best from just one family! Acceptance through music is essential! Open your mind! Traveling the world is a great way to understanding! And through music this can be taught!#Traces
loved the way you have put travelling and music together..I always thought the same but couldn't frame it..and they have dedicated this song to father Ravi Shankar in a same way..the clips in background are of #Kolkata where pandit Ravi Shankarji is from.
Such a lovely song! the sisters make a great duo.
Hello Anoushka Shankar!! I'm a Brazilizn guy, but i loved your music, beautiful song!! Congratulations and Namastê!!
OMG! A glimpse of Calcutta, my hometown is shown in the Video!
Man, they are both so beautiful.....
Fusion of two worlds by DNA, culture, music, heart and all that is beautiful ... perfection at its best !!
Norah Jones is a genius. Always searching, in this case for dad. Her sister got it. l loved the funny faces at the end. That made it real. thank you.
Why haven't I heard of this before, 9 years old 😮 this is soooo beautiful! What a unbelievable Dou ❤
Perfect song for really long bus/train rides through mountains and green fields. :)
So, so beautiful. The song, the singers, and the union of two styles, cultures and civilisations.
Pure music, no auto tune.
Real music brother
Wow!!! Amazing!!!!
Today my long tiring day ended and with it. I don't know why, the music seemed like kind of "sadness of joy" to me. Loved it. All my fatigue got buried with it.....
I cannot believe that this song was released almost 10 years ago.
I remember I was living back on Venezuela, and I discovered Anoushka back then, maybe 1 or 2 years before this song came out. I remember how excited I was that the sister were releasing an amazing and beautiful song together!
It's about 2am here in bangladesh and I'm drinking this song..on and on and on
RIP pandit Ravi Shankar, a great friend of our country
Great song! I love how Eastern & Western music are blended...beautiful!
It's very very nice music, thank you so much anoushka shanker.
Восхитительно! Просто божественно!❤
Благодарность от всего сердца 💕 😊
Beautiful song and beautiful video, very nice collaboration, thank you :)
I love this, it will be in my favourites ♥♥♥
So beautiful, Sisters singing and playing together in delicious harmony.
Blending of classical and western!!
I love the way These Sisters Blend Eastern And Western Music And Create Something so powerful, melodious and soothing. Sitar, An Instrument Of Harmony, Melody And Peace had not reached the recognition around the globe that it deserved. I think This Type Of Venture Revives Indian Music And Puts Up Its Elegance And Charm to the masses.
Thank You, Anushka Shankar, Norah Jones, And Tanmoy Bose..... Love You People....
Pura música y puro sentimiento. Me encanta. Me gustaría escuchar y ver más música, resultado de la colaboración de estas dos hermanas
OMG!! I cannot believe it, all this time I have been listening to Norah Jones never knowing her background and now I understand. I just started listening to Ravi Shanker's sitar music and his daughters Anoushka's playing but I did hear in an interview that Ravi had a daughter from another partner that loves to play piano and jazz and it made sense. Norah does look like Ravi WOW, just WOW!!!!
This is the best collaboration ever I can't stop listening to this track the best best best tu for such beautiful music
one of the most beautiful music I ever heard, glad sisters could come together.
one of the best soulful songs, it just takes you to a different meditated world :)
Maravilloso resultado de la colaboración de estas dos hermanas. No las había visto actuar juntas y me ha encantado. Solo había visto a Anoushka con su padre. Y siempre me han emocionado sus actuaciones, tanto en solitario como conjuntamente
*Sometimes you will get tired of loving and being hurt. But that's what love is..You just need to take a break and start loving yourself first. 💖💖👍👍💔💔🧡*
They are the greatest most talented sisters! I love them both so very much and am so grateful for their music and for their father Ravi Shankar
