I charge my deep cycle marine batteries on trickle charge always. I believe they last longer that way.

your battery will last years longer if you charge it with 2 amps or less.. The video suggest that you hit it with 10 amps to top it off when it hasn’t even been used, this is not good advice at all... when topping off a battery you’ll want a 2 amp max charger to keep heat down, heat kills batteries. A battery maintainer would keep batteries at peak charge at all times or you could top it off as he calls it in video with a maintainer as well.
10 amps has its place but not this situation.

My O'Reilly Super Start Group 27 (size) Deep Cycle Marine Battery lasted 3 years seven months. After around 30 Cycles. Plus or minus 7 Cycles. I've tried refilling low water Battery Cells (6 total, with usually 1 down) with distilled water before. But It's never worked because the gel in the Cells isn't holding a full charge anymore - is usually the problem with these Batteries. But, it's worth refilling distilled water if all Cells aren't full, to see if it might still hold a full charge. Especially with a newer Battery. My last Super Start did very well. But their not all created equal as they sit on the shelf - idle for years. With water evaporating from the Cells. Have O'Reilly test the new Battery first before buying it. Sometimes it registers as bad. But their cheap, and you can test in store to confirm a good unit.

charging batteries gives off gases from the battery. The distance from the charger is for safety.

Yep. Gives off hydrogen gas which burns if there is a spark.

Charging a deep cycle battery at 10 amps seems a lil high to me but i use mine for a trolling motor so it gets 75% discharged amd recharged at least twice a week. 10 amp may work fine if its seldom used like the one in the video.

Nice video. I have dead deep cycling batteries. What options for different types of batteries. DC are too expensive to replace.

Thanks for this video, and if I may ask, is the Gel Battery the same as Deep Cycle batteries, and is it okay too, to charge it weekly or once every two weeks if you just want it to be a reserve power in case the power went out? Thanks Again I am new to batteries sir.

When you know your deep cycle batteries are completely dead and can’t be recharged? Or are they fixable?
    Thanks!

Do the 2amp trickle charge -- it will charge deeper and the battery will last far longer. 10amp is like engine running charging fast charge….. deep 2a trickle is the long deep charge. 10a is quickie I need to start and run now. 50amp is desperate please get engine running

I'm trying to charge my battery for my ride-on mower but not sure if I should have the battery setting on SLI or deep cycle. I tried SLI yesterday for a few hours and nothing happened. Should I go with deep cycle then for longer time? Having trouble finding this out

Your ride on battery should be a starter battery not deep cycle battery. If it is a small battery it would be better to charge it at a lower amperage.

I purchased used sealed 1 year old Nautilus group 31 battery. It is sealed. I purchased a NOCO GENIUS 1 charger and was wondering what my setting should be for the charge. The charge has 3 settings. 12V, 12V AGM, 12V LITHIUM. I currently have it on 12V and it has a pulsating red. I presume it is correct and according to manual, it will take approx 22 hrs.

The battery lets off vapours/gasses while charging which can ignite so the battery should be well clear from any electrical appliance, open flames and never smoke anywhere near a battery
