      I love your videos, they are very informative. I have a request that may also help others. Could list the names of the products you discuss in order? I have a hearing impairment and I sometimes have trouble making out the name of some products and auto captions sometimes don’t work well with company/brand names. Thanks again for the informative videos, it has helped to see close up visuals when describing certain features, it has helped me become more familiar seeing bow terms I’ve read being shown

    I’m just getting back into this after 23 years and with all of the changes in this sport I was wondering about the lighted single dot sight set up I just bought a stone grey Mathews Traverse and I’m setting it up and I’m not sure what sight to get I’m not planning to hunt with it just going to kill paper but with all of the options I was think of starting with a single dot because I think it would be easier to get use to
    By the way I love how good you are at making all of your videos your the reason I went with the traverse your info is always helpful

    Just bought the Option sight a couple weeks ago, I love it!!! Had the 3 pin black gold, it is a good sight, just wish I would have bought the Option sight when I bought my bow. I really love the Option sight, shooting way tighter groups at 40 and 50 yards. Of course I bought it at the Bow Rack.

    My bow came with a fuse and it’s all set and works beautifully . I’m afraid to change anything but I would prefer a one pin with adjustable yardage seems practical . You ll rarely shoot an animal on the ground from 20 yards in my experiences . In a tree yeah 20 yards . On the ground count on 40 yds at least and know your yardages . Seen a lot folks shoot right under their target including me which is why I say this 😂. Growing pains from back in the day .

  • @MrShysterme
    @MrShysterme 4 роки тому +2

    I get some buck fever. One of the best things I've done is switch to a moveable single pin. It makes me so much more focused. Once I set up, I pick the best yardage pin set up for that site and know what I have to do at each location I've ranged. For almost all stand locations, I leave my pin at either 20 yards or 25 yards. If the deer is at 40 yards, I have time to move the pin. I shoot a 300 fps bow, and if I set my pin at 25 yards, then I can shoot center of kill zone from 0 to 30 yards. For a woods treestand hunter, I feel they are vastly superior. They are also really fun because in the summer you can do things like practice at 60 yards (more easily, if you have an HHA that sets all your yardages for you once you sight in).
    I'd encourage any hunter to check one out.

      I like that idea too. Switching too an entire new setup. Having to range every thing outside of 30 and move the sight scares me tho. More movement. I've never shot at anything outside of 30 tho just my comfort zone, but with this new setup I'm hoping to increase tht range.

    That single sight pin is pretty nice. I like the idea of dialing in the animal like it’s a sniper rifle scope, or a mortar! I’ll be hunting from a blind mostly so dialing wouldn’t be so difficult. I would just fine tune the yardage from the blind to the feeder right when I sit down in the blind. If I see the animal I’m hunting show up a little closer, I’ll just dial for how far away I believe it is.... that being said there is human error in guessing yardage so that’s why the multi pins are nice. Then again, I’m pretty sure there’s small pocket size range finders out there. So I like the idea of a 10 pin sight and I go up by fives for each lower pin. 10 yards, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 yards. I can’t think of a realistic scenario in where I shoot a deer beyond 55 yards... at that point, even with sights it’s like taking pot shots...

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  4 роки тому

      I know it sounds nice but when you get that many pins in a sight the potential for using the wrong pin is very high. Also, the gap between the pins would be so tight you wouldn't be able to see what you're aiming to save your life. Much easier to go with 3 pin head on a slider. That way you have a working range from 20-40 without having to move anything, but have the option of dialing it further when needed.

    I adjusted pins back in ‘88 on my unlabeled Bear Whitetail II sight. I’ve had enough of that.
    Also... How did I used to kill bucks without a level for years & years? I’m all for the fancy stuff, but shouldn’t it be less of an effort to sight in with the tech these days??

    The Grumpy Old Asshole

    I like the 5 fixed pin because you don’t have to adjust. With that being said when I’m looking at a deer thru my pin my brain and adrenaline blends all those pins together in the heat of the moment. I think I’m gonna go with a 1 pin sight. Target shooting & shooting a deer are wayyyy different to my brain. Maybe it’s cuz I’m young & not super experienced.

    Can you talk about pin size and colors? I hunt the East and often am in the woods to dark thirty. Not sure what color(s) show best at dusk and not sure about size vs. precision. I don't think having a different color for every yardage is best if one color shows poorly in low light.

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому +1

      Green seems to show up the best, and the standard .019 seems to be the best overall size. Lots of people will order a sight with the first three pinsat .019 and the last two pins in .010 so they have the precision at distance. As far as all one color, that can be risky because in the heat of the moment it's very easy to mis-pin if they're all the same color. I'd suggest going 2 green, red middle, 2 green. That way you have a different color to help you differentiate which pin is which. Thanks for watching! Good shooting to you.

The instructions say that you can sight in top pin at 20 and then one additional pin of choice (30 or 40) An all of the pins will move and adjust accordingly. My question would be if you want your top pin zero at 30 yards, and then sight in the (40 or 50) yard pin would that work or do you have to have top pin at 20 yards for the spacing to work?

      Yeah they don't offer it in the website, but you can get them built with any pin configuration you want. We get them built with the 8 pin housing and 5 pins so that you get more distance out if it. Thanks for your support man! Glad I could aid in your decision!

    It's a great review and the makers are clearly vying for the buyer's dollar by offering more and better functionality. However they are all too complicated and there needs to be a breakthrough in simplicity. After all, American Indians hunted deer and buffalo with the crudest technology, so there's a happy medium somewhere out there.

    Great vid. However the one sight that I was most interested in learning about, you didnt cover it in the video. The sight thats 2nd last in the line of sights. to the left side of that last oval shaped sight. That one looks most suitable for target shooting and looks like it has the smallest housing. I was most interested in seeing the review on that one but it wasnt talked about here :-(
    Other than that great vid and thanks for sharing.

      The Option? Its actually one of the largest housings and wouldn't be my first choice for target shooting. If you want a target sight get a single spin slider.

    I just can't justify an expensive sight. Mine's about $90Au.
    I think they are like cars, A BMW is nice and flashy, but it does the same thing that a car at 10% of its price does. Sure, it might have a few more features, but its job is the same as the other.
    In other words, a $500 sight will do the same thing an $80 sight will, just a bit more flashy.
    In my opinion.

    More game has been harvested (humainly) with simple fixed pin sights than with any of the others.
    Spend the time, learn your equipment, and learn to truly hunt. If you want to take 50+ yard shots at game, just go gun hunting.

I'm deciding between a Hoyt Nitrux, Hoyt Axius, and maybe a Hoyt Rx4 Ultra (If they sell a non-carbon version because I don't want to spend $1,750) or a Mathews Tactic, Mathews Traverse, or a Mathews VXR 31.5 (The VXR is #1 on my list unless someone can answer my question between the Axius and Rx4 when I go to the Archery store tomorrow).
