I just ordered a 12', 3lb., XT for using in the Ohio river. I really know very little, but it looks fun. If I find the bottom is covered in trees and debris, I suppose I can use a float and fish higher up. Wish me luck.
My biggest fish was caught on a Daiwa clone that is made in my country..... (Daiwa bought the brand).... Currently the most expensive reel I have is the Aero Technium and Ultegra XTD from Shimano ....But I have to add that they have given me a magnificent decade long of fishing :D, so the expensive price for 2 high end reels or 4 mid end reels for a decade of quality is quite a bargain.... I've also cought carp on 20-30 E setups and those were above 20 lbs. It's mostly about skill, but good gear is sometimes a nice thing to have.....at least for the bragging rights.....
Basia reels are over priced junk, never seen one not making clonking or grinding sounds when in action! I don’t understand how people can tune out to those noises when paying £450/£500 a piece for a reel!
I have seen that to on alot of big tackle companies channels 😂 I have okuma trio rex had the new shimano ultegra when they came out didn't last 6 months the trio rex all aluminium body and router
@@carpingcrazy LOL reassuringly expensive junk, the spools are a penis extension for self loathing individuals who haven't figured it out yet! Trust your instincts or the human race won't make it!!
Review IS not accurate bc u need to test reels on Big lakes with heavy load. And after using it couple of years in heavy conditions then you can do proper review. On small lakes like this any reel Can do its Job. I love Daiwa and i have same basias tournament like u in video but have to say that reel is overpriced. I found Daiwa emblem 45 ot even múch better than basias , only drag on basias IS better and weight. Even line lay on emblems IS better.
it's not a true review like carpology and owning reels like that is just a look at me I think am good spending that sort of money on reels my okuma are just as good with ice washers in the drag and they cost a 1/4 of the price I bet you have vast waders and a beard don't you
Hi Stef. I’m at that stage when I’m looking to purchase some Basia X45 rods shortly however I’m torn between the 3.25 & 3.75 tc models. I don’t fish massive lakes however that may change. What is the distance you can get with a 3.25 tc?
@@andrewwilson5566 hello andrew, to be honest im not Big expert on rods, im using 3.5 lb , 12 and 13 ft anaconda corky and Prologic natura for maximum casting distance. I Also have jrc extreme 3.25lb but casting distance IS not so long but Blank IS better. I never had rods which cost more than 200 euros so i would be lying if i would said that my rods r the best. And it depends on company, fór example Prologic 3.5lb feels like 3.25 jrc. Never had 3.75 lb rods. The best way to buy rods in my opinion IS to hold IT in your hands before buying.im.not from UK im from Slovakia and i fish only on Big lakes and strong rivers. Hope IT Helps and u make a right choice.

Got to say that reel doesn't sound to healthy
For a £700 reel, I'd expect it to be smooth and silent, and not suffer from line going under the spool and tangling!
What lake is this
Coffee grinders ...lol
