Well now the tears are just streaming down my face. We are here and then we are gone. I sorely miss the Moody's that have left us. Brings back so many fond memories, the way only music has the magic to do.

Ray Thomas sings this ballad with such emotional honesty and vulnerability. Like his MOODY bandmates, he sings of personal truth, appreciation and wonder.
May the spirit of Ray shine down on all of us wanderers through all of our life’s journeys. RIP R.T.

The Moody Blues blessed us with four of the best songwriters and singers in any band that ever existed. Pinder, Thomas, Hayward and Lodge. The only other UK songwriter and singer to come close was John Lennon and he and Pinder were mates strangely enough.
My fav Moodies song was the obscure A SIMPLE GAME by Mike Pinder, and was also recorded by The Four Tops, Billy Ocean and Justin Hayward. I was on the B side of RIDE MY SEE SAW back in 68 and it would have been a massive hit if they had made it the A side, why they did not do this is a bit of a mystery. Here is a link>

What a masterful and soothing performance...
    RIP Mr. Ray Thomas...
In the vast sea of inspirational artists, yours had always risen to be the guiding light with your reflective, compassionate, peaceful loving poetic embrace of heartfelt warm ageless and timeless wisdom making us know that we're not alone, and that everything is going to be alright.
Your contribution with the one and only Moody Blues was that of a caring and steady mentoring voice irreplaceable in its distinctive philosophical warmth and beauty. Taking nothing away from your fine mates, the cosmic professorial element that you brought is in my mind what gave the MB's its shape and distinction.
I feel fortunate to have been initially touched by your passionate guiding voice in the late 60's at the tender age of 5, and as a lifetime follower I can say with certainty that my life has been all the better because of. You counseled away my fears, and soothed my soul in the way only you alone could.
The world has lost a friendly voice of a loving poetic prophet, and while you have left this physical earth, I'm comforted to be able to continue to listen to you, and be guided by you for as long as I may live.
Thank you for touching my life by sharing your loving warmth and wisdom. Though your humbleness is quite evident, you can rest assured that you will not be forgotten.
Goodnight dear friend... Rest In Peace

+Richard Sorgman I was sad when Ray left The Moody Blues. Justin Hayward, Graham Edge, and John Lodge are on tour right now. Have you ever seen them live? This is one of my favorites. Although, I have never seen them live!

I've been a Moody Blues fan since 1968, I always think in terms of the 5 piece band and what each member brought to the table.
    Justin made it beautiful.
    John hit the highs.
Mike lent it drama and mood.
    Graham set the timing.
Ray just made it fun.....so much fun.

I am sooo glad I got to see them all alive and well in Atlanta in 1981. Along with a full orchestra. It was fantastic!

I don't know why the moodies , in their current tours , don't perform any of Ray's compositions . For my lady & Dear diary are IMO two of their top 5 , and should be performed live by them instead of some of their stuff from the 80's . For this reason alone I abstain from attending their concerts .

Ray Thomas was such a beautiful tenor. He looked happiest here. A real tour de force for him and very inspiring for us. One of the loveliest songs he wrote and even better live.

Toni, Just happened across this song while checking some MB tunes. I hadn't heard this one before. Went to Red Rocks last December while visiting daughter in Denver. What a neat venue ... scenic with wonderful views and the acoustics are said to be outstanding. :-)

Hey Jim, I knew the song but I don't remember it getting a ton of air time back in the day, well not around here anyway. They were known for their poetic lyrics and of course flute riffs.:o)

The music of the Moody Blues goes with a full orchestra like a hand in a glove. I have enjoyed and loved their work for over 1/2 of a century. Back in the 1980's I had the honor of seeing them in concert in Raleigh, NC. A perfect show!!!! If you get the chance, go see them!!!! Worth any price!
