Dominique would've gone to the 2000 Olympics but she got injured right before it. And there's no need to tear down Dominique to prop up Miller. Both were good, but Moceanu was a prodigy. She was 14 years old in the '96 Olympics.
...breathtaking...almost flawless...! ...just the recovery alone should have been given a ten...and that beam execution from the start...i don’t know if the music that you hear in the background is for another gymnast but at the moment she mounts and does a couple of skills it flows perfectly with her throughout making the genious of her exercise as stunning as it is unique...!
True but wouldn't you expect Miller to be more consistent, less nervous etc. She was older and a more seasoned gymnast with olympic experience, so the fact that Dominique was selected for the 96 team with Shannon speaks volumes in itself. Yeah she was a tad nervy but when she hit, SHE HIT!
She wasn't able to practice her vault because of an injury, and quite frankly, she kept her composure better than Dawes or Miller did when they made mistakes. Watch Miller's vault from the 2000 Olympic trials and tell me how consistent she is. Moceanu's beam mount alone makes her routine more interesting than Miller's.
even with the balance check at 1:09. better than anything I saw this year. more graceful and unique than the same identical routine every girl seemed to do this year.. i guess we should blame the judging system?
This is really laughable. 9.600? Are you kidding me? The mistake at @ 1:09 at least cost her -0.3. We could even argue that she should lose a part of her SV because If I'm not wrong she needed that front tuck to get the score to a 10.0. Not to mention the shaky handstand which should have cost her another -0.3. She was one lucky girl to get that 9.60. I see that not all deductions are applied for all gymnasts that quad and the next.
Judging during that time was a little more forgiving. Balance checks and falls didn't cost as much then. She scored just about what I would've expected for that set.
She recovered pretty well both times though. It's sad though because during team optionals she did this routine SO well. I think maybe because she was so young she buckled under the pressure.

@@ajimenez1719ify It would be fair if all the athletes were judged the same way, but they were not.
@@211jumpthey were all scored like this, less harsh, meaning she wasn’t lucky. You are dumb asf lmao.

It's really too bad this happened on the first rotation to her at the Olympics.
