If anyone feels Zafina is too strong, please try playing her. Then take a real good look at her damage. If zafina had dragunov damage, then yes she would be busted, but as is, it’s difficult to do a 60 dmg combo without wall with her. You can do close to 70 dmg but she would then need to use moves that would make her take 15ish dmg as well. I don’t main Zafina, I’ve just experimented with her a bit. This patch was a great start to getting her back to a playable state but in order for her not to be bottom tier she needs at least about 10 more damage per combo and to remove the self damage that her Azazel moves do.
Another thing to point out is if you feel Zafina is really strong when you play against her, you’re almost certainly getting taxed because nobody plays her in T8 because she’s a bottom tier character. Same reason why you lose to the bears all time time, you’ve never studied the matchup.

Yeah, sure her damage isn't on par with Drag, but her Evasiveness is dialed up to 11 compared to Drag. If she had his damage along with her current evasive properties she wouldn't just be S tier, she'd be the boss character of a boss character.
She is auto evasive and it's already better than most of the characters in this game or tekken 7. It depends on the launcher and she can do lots of damage too. Also she has a weird low launcher looks slow, but in fact it's very hard to block it, even top Japanese or Korean can't block it well. She is at least top 10 for sure.
She's not top 10 at all😂 but she isn't as bad as this guy makes it seem.

No, she's not the "new Dragunov." She still has underwhelming block punishment, frames, and damage. There's also alot of misconceptions about her stances since she can actually be easily interrupted/jabbed out of them due to her poor frames.

Wr3 kinda slept on rn with the buffed wr1+2. People be ducking that shit and wr3 let’s you keep your pressure somewhat and also incentivises them to sidewalk straight into wr1+2
Wr3 feels too slow for me been trying to integrate that but it alway get interrupted.
@@jackyv626 Try using it for oki situations where you would wr1+2 like after ws1,4 where you get the NWG charge
Wr 3 is hravily steppable and WR 1+2 can be ducked. Even slightly off axis wr3 will miss. And you will be in scarecrow stance with your back facing the oppnent. I prefer the FF 2+4 way more sometimes. Her While running moves is pretty meh.. Even eddy has a way better while running move.
I rarely see zafinas online and when I do I usually get rekt lol

Not even close to being pre-patch Dragunov. Zafina's damage is still pitiful without using Azazel moves, her Heat mechanics suck (especially her terrible Engagers), her frame data leaves a lot to be desired, and she still has the worst punishment in the game.
Zafina isn't Bottom 3 any longer, but still far from good. She's Bottom 7 at best now. The only characters that are unequivocally worse than Zafina are: Claudio, Panda, Raven, and Steve.
Her damage is pitiful with azazel moves too.
And yea horrible punishment. Horrid frames on block.
Her best moves are only accessible in stance, aka after a punish or counter, so not things you can just throw out in neutral like many characters best moves.
Like hearing some dude go "omg that move is so good/busted" all I can think is bro... your character has 4 moves that are plus on block that do the same thing from NEUTRAL. My move better fucking be good considering the prep that goes into even being able to use it.
Vanilla zafina is annoying to fight with asuka. Buffs just make that worse. Zafina gives a hard time to tekken orthodox character designs because orthodox characters primarily fight in a standard upright neutral stance. Zafina/Ling and stance rush characters like eddie/Lars have naturally high attack evasion within their normal stance moves and transitions. With low stances even evading mid attacks. Asuka's best scooping mids are very minus and have long recovery. Like f 2 and f 3+4. So this will always be a sweaty match for Asuka. Zafina Low stance even goes under b4 and 1+2. It sucks. You are doing everything you are supposed to do in the match up. It's just a lot of work and you have to stay busy . Something you are great at. Especially generating visual noise with cancels to disguise stuff.

Over powered my Ass. Tarantula gets interupted by every option on block unless you're the classic masher, scarecrow stance cant block and you can eat a rage art anytime. Combo damage is shit not to mention her while running move is a fking High. Her higher damage combo routes wont work after side step.. she's one of the few characters who can't launch after blocking a rage art..She's very fun to play but not even close to being overpowered oh not to mention her Azazel moves has self damage.

14:34-14:45 Asuka planted Zafina’s head on the ground for massive damage, o my goodness.
Its a high so duck n punish, it has no mid follow up (edit for clarity: no mid follow up as part of the wr move itself, but yes in trt she has mid options), her slash kick is also duckable i believe and her long while running move is a slide so all duck blockable, wr1+2 also forces stance where only really good option is df1 claw for chip damage, but after that she cannot reloop the sequence safely on frames, also pretty sure you can just jab float her out of both wr moves coz she jumps in the air or heat burst spike her down for a combo,
also the only fast low in tarantula stance is a little swipe
, the other is over 20 frame start up. I dont think consensus will be shes suddenly the new drag, nor even escaping out of bottom 5 or 10 characters but obv we shall see.
Also to add, her combo dmg is still conpletely dog water compared to rest of cast, deffo nowhere near drag lvl.
Further edit: also for her running moves, except for her slide which she can only do after 3 running steps are high so pretty sure you can just feel free to also powercrush, and this will also cover her FF moves, but then obviously she can do a grab instead so yknow it's all Gamba T8 style -shrug-
First off, wr 1+2 doesn't only force the ddf1 claw, because the little swipe is not over 20 frames, it's i18 start-up. So if you press after anything you will get CH knocked down into follow-up df1 claw for 44 damage. Second, it is high and homing and you can't just duck because she has 4 different mid options: ff4 and ff3+4 and and ff1+2 (claw move) and wr3, all which are mid and ff3 is also homing. Additionally since the 3 mids that are ff inputs can have their range extended by holding the second forward input, it's not just as simple as "Lol duck and punish". The claw being +6 is also another problem, which forces the opponent to hesitate before retaliating because at +6, you will get CH launched by 1+2 even on a trade with a jab. During all that hesitation she can start up another running mix-up because running moves are brain dead in this game.
If you played this Zafina with all that misinformation you would have lost every match
@@IzNebula yeah, my comment said other than the swipe, the other low is over 20 frames, so we're saying the same thing, in terms of wr moves Vs FF moves, it probably is difficult to see/read if it's gonna be a wr or just a FF mid move, but you can option selection with just a jab interrupt I think which will stuff a FF move or float a wr.
The strength is deffo mental frames but either way the cookie crumbles I don't think consensus will be that she escapes bottom 5 or 10, nor is she comparable to drag in power level
Do you think Zafina will now have the same Hate that Azucena had before Azucena got nerfed to death? I personally think Zafina will get the same hate that Azucena had. All it takes is some a top player doing this on a tournament against a top guy like knee. Ulsan abused the Azucena run 3,2 against knee and knee couldn't do nothing. I think we're gonna see it again but this time with Zafina.

Her combo damage is still on the lower end on average, and her TRT stance is not as evasive as one would assume, so I am hoping "No" on that. 😅

ive been abusing zaf even before the buffs. her shenanigans are just too much lol. and with jun being too nerfed now.. i fear zaf is the new annoying top tier, fortunately she does have some apparent weaknesses so shes not like drag level toxic
