that stuff is amazing! I found it on ebay and I needed something to seal of a little divot on my les paul neck on the side below the nut. She fell off the strap WITH STRAP LOCKS and hit the floor. Could have been worse but it drives me crazy knowing it's there. I thank you for your vids as a working father of two kids I have little extra $$ for sending out repairs so with your help I'm able to get it done myself with the occasional gooch.
Man great quality repair on that Bass headstock mate. I couldn't even tell that it had been fudged with Dave, let alone a full break like you described. Very tidy work on that Les Paul too mate.
I've been seriously considering building a kit guitar or getting a Warmoth body for my old beat to hell P Bass just so I can try doing a CA glue finish on it. The couple I've seen look absolutely stunning and seems durable as hell.
Nice! Have you ever done a video on the so called "proper headstock repair by local luthier"😆 I see one pop up on craigslist seems like once every three days, with small cavities, cracks, and lumps and all kinds of mess. Absolutely nothing like the proper repair you just did! Nice work!
What colours are you using? EDIT: I'm dumb. Didn't realize it's a full system. I thought you're already loaded with all kinds of colours to mix and match.
Nice work, Dave. Had me wonderin' trying to trickle glue down the sides of the damage. The pins should hold i'd like to say forever, but...:). I have a circa '83 Cort Arrow with a headstock repair. I always feel if it wasn't for that 3" long truss rod cover the headstock would have broken off when it fell in '00. $150 used in '96 and buy of the decade for me. I think i spent $60.00 on the repair Even though the damage can be seen, it's still in one piece.
Hi Dave, I am a luthier as well, and am using Gluboost products. I recently fixed a cracked neck 's scar on the back of the neck's finish and it came out pretty good, but I did have a problem with the masking I used sticking to the fill n' finish. In this repair what did you use for the masking material? BTW, I sub'd your channel cause you seem to be doing tings much like me, and I learned some stuff watching you. Good Stuff! Thanks.
Can you get the same or similar results with regular CA? I've done a few drop fills on my strat neck with regular ca and it turned out really good. I had looked into using the glue boost but it seemed pricey for what I wanted it for.
There are tons of different CA-Glue. It's not all the same. The thinner it is, the faster it cures. Some CA glues are getting very milky after curing and some turn yellow-ish after a few years. So at least one that stays clear and goes well with tints would be needed. It all depends if the repair is worth it. But in this case, the tinting only in the crack area is less work than sanding everything down and spraying with the airbrush or in the booth. I can recommend the pages from Henkel online to get to the glue you want or you can call them for free. There is CA-Glue that allows a bit when a bit more flexability is needed. Others stay totally transparent so you can see through, some can bond even hard to glue plastics...worth looking into. Also, if you got a decent glue you can tell exactly how much temperature is needed to make it brittle again. Like for flooding fretslots from the side or something else you might want to take apart again some time without ripping it apart.
Hey, Dave. I've got an Epiphone Dot with a broken off head stock. Would Gluboost fix a complete repair, or is it only good for cracks like you used here? And if so, what do you recommend for a total head break?
There's lots of vids on youtube on fixing them. Lots of different methods as well. Which one to use kinda depends on what kind of break it is. Sometimes you get a long but clean break with lots of surface area. Pretty easy to just coat with wood glue and clamp up. Others you have very little surface area to glue so you need reinforcements. And others blow up and fall apart into tiny bits. Seek professional help.
I'd also recommend the dan erlewine video on broken headstocks. It was uploaded in the last two years. You can't miss it on the stewmac videos. He digs out lots of the loose splinters and explains a lot.
Yeah Uriah Heep! Amazing live band. Saw them a few years ago and they blew away lots of the young bands. The first thing that W.A.S.P. did on stage, was to tell everyone how they inspired them. Love it. There is a compilation Album called "The Golden Palace" (not the song itself) that just works as a great best of playlist. Albums are very cheap. Btw...great repair! You got the Gluboost, the Fill and Finish Pro and the Colour Matching stuff. When you talk about clear you mean the Fill and Finish Pro stuff? What's the colour company? 7:40 Did you make a video for that broken headstock? I'd love to see it. The main re-glueing was also GB wood epoxy or was the surface enough for titebond?
So did it string up ok? Do it stay in tune? You musta been in hurry, or something idk. Just curious how it faired with string tension and all. Thanks Dave, big fan, again. Don't ask, rabbit holes were involved. Lol...
I get the feeling it's a go in after job finishwise. Feller stated in the vid he had the owner play it for a while to make sure the repair wasn't going to blow out and fail again, no sense in painting it if that happens yeah? it was likely a month or so after the repair was actually done if I had to guess.
Anybody know where I can buy or order Semco Artists Series Linseed Oil made in Canada? I went to semco website "all products" but didn't find it, nor did I find it on Amazon. What brands of linseed oil you recommend nowadays Dave (and where to get)?
Ok, I have a question... I've seen you do a couple of headstock/neck repairs. Aside from keeping the original serial numbers on the guitar, why wouldn't you just replace the neck instead of repairing it?
I love ya Dave but I swear, I could see that headstock flying off and smacking up hard against the “Dave’s World of Fun Stuff” Banner you had hanging there. I owe you an apology O’ Great One.
"a little huffy"? That accelerator is nasty stuff and toxic. Can you feel your brain cells floating off in a mist of organic vapors? One recommendation on staining: use a Q-tip to apply fill&finish stain and an artist flat sable brush to feather it in. Another tip: keep the CA in a covered can with silicon gel packets to absorb random moisture. They'll last much longer.
If it's a regular Q-tip you'll have lots of small hairs in there. If it's an expensive repair I'd suggest buying a pack of swabs for microscope work. An absolute lint-free, soaks up like tiny sponge. Those are great to clean camera lenses too. One per Job isn't that expensive.
You know, people say I'm lazy, but I LOVE work. I could watch Dave do it for hours.
Watching you work is now my relaxation therapy. You give of some laid back vibes it really calms the spirit. Especially late at night.
Props to Gibson for being an early pioneer of the headless guitar! #Legends
I’m in awe of your electronics and finishing skills in particular. Not only those, but they are real standouts to me.
Thanks so much for this, I have just attempted basically the same finish repair for the first time and this video helped enormously!
that stuff is amazing! I found it on ebay and I needed something to seal of a little divot on my les paul neck on the side below the nut. She fell off the strap WITH STRAP LOCKS and hit the floor. Could have been worse but it drives me crazy knowing it's there. Yea!!! A real Dave repair and not just a set up.
I watched a video of a guy using this stuff to do a full guitar body finish. It looked really nice. Glad to see it is a good product after all
Excellent repair. Interesting and informative, and the real extra good news is I think its safe to say you don't have head lice.
Nice job Dave, you continue to amaze!
Nice work Dave, love your channel. Watch you all the time , cheers from Vancouver Island.
Wonderful work Dave. You are an artisan. Thanks for sharing.
Great fix Dave, looks fantastic theres nothing worse than trying to fix some one ells attempt at fixing stuff, been there done that , Cheers
Man great quality repair on that Bass headstock mate. I couldn't even tell that it had been fudged with Dave, let alone a full break like you described. Very tidy work on that Les Paul too mate.
I'd love to see the video, but I guess there is none of the first try on that product.-.-
Amazing job Dave, you're the best.
I've been seriously considering building a kit guitar or getting a Warmoth body for my old beat to hell P Bass just so I can try doing a CA glue finish on it. The couple I've seen look absolutely stunning and seems durable as hell.
You're too damn snarky to be a shill. Keep it that way, LOL.
You got some major skills Mr Dave. Reminds me of that cracked martin you fixed.
Nice! Have you ever done a video on the so called "proper headstock repair by local luthier"😆 I see one pop up on craigslist seems like once every three days, with small cavities, cracks, and lumps and all kinds of mess. Absolutely nothing like the proper repair you just did! Nice work!
very nice results w/that product and your skill Dave
You save people's sanity, Dave.
Glu-boost rocks, great stuff.
dave+superglue-huff=superdave
It's now a Gibson Les-Broken.
Fascinating and valuable repair info Dave. Thanks for sharing.
That's on heck of a repair Dave
Fascinating to watch Dave. Great job.

You can do it Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool repair...love that stuff..also the uriiah heep shirt. That was a great band
Just ordered my gluboost. Thanks!
Where did you order it? Directly of the company?
I just looked on ebay and amazon and couldn't find it-.-.
What colours are you using? EDIT: I'm dumb. Didn't realize it's a full system.
I thought you're already loaded with all kinds of colours to mix and match.
Good Luck and no excuses! I have used hide glue for years and never a problem or a come back.
Awesome job Dave! Your a wizard of guitar magic..
Nice work, Dave. Had me wonderin' trying to trickle glue down the sides of the damage. The pins should hold i'd like to say forever, but...:). I have a circa '83 Cort Arrow with a headstock repair. It's a Dave Master Piece, Gibson in name only.
I saw another utuber do the entire guitar finish with GluBoost - rock hard when done
lol... but I was excited!
Good job Dave.
Love the Uriah Heep T-shirt !!!
Phenomenal job!
Good job Dave ,looks great :)
love these videos man learning loads for the future i wanna be a luthier
Nice work Dave.
very cool glue product, thanks Dave !
Great job Dave!
Great job Dave! But how did like having strings on it again? Just curious to hear it played after such a traumatic break.
I think using the auto polisher is an awesome idea. How do you defeat the moment switch? Love the stuff btw, all my guitars have nice sets up now.
Awesome work! What name brand tint and color are you using there? it is a perfect match for my Gibson I'm about to repair
GLU BOOST
Great save, squire!
JB Weld is a life saver, so many things that would have got tossed are around because of JB weld
Wow, what a save!
Another fine job! Cheers!
Great job Dave🤘
Oh man you are brilliant
Well done sir!
Great job Dave. Did you ever consider putting a stinger on the back?
On the headstock. I've seen them there on other Gibson's that have had neck repair. Just curious
good job man really good job

Nice cover job! I always end up with my arse stuck to my ear with CA! Ha!
We call glue boost mitre bond in the uk. It is excellent for all kind of jobs.
Cool fix
Beautiful!
Great video!!!
Good Entertainment!!!
whats the brand red tint powder?

My experience is that it all blushes and is a real pain to work with. This stuff seems great.
Love the Uriah heep shirt
Hey, Dave. I've got an Epiphone Dot with a broken off head stock. Would Gluboost fix a complete repair, or is it only good for cracks like you used here? And if so, what do you recommend for a total head break?
Did you? I'm sorry, man. I must've not been paying attention to that part. I'll re-watch it again. Thanks.

Is that glue from luthier supply?
Like the tshirt loved that group growin up. Are they still at it?
I know you can finish a fretless fretboard with CA glue, having done it with the Yamaha I converted after watching Dave's old video on it.
You're the best

Nice to hear Uriah Heep is still playing. Saw them in Berkeley, Ca. in early 70's. Savoy Brown and Fleetwood Mac opened for them.
Healthy and clean scalp my friend , Congratulations
what polish is that ? will it take out swirlss as well?
that would be swirl remover
Ok, back to the schwazz!
So did it string up ok? Do it stay in tune? You musta been in hurry, or something idk. Just curious how it faired with string tension and all.
Thanks Dave, big fan, again. Don't ask, rabbit holes were involved. Lol...

Ok, I have a question...
I've seen you do a couple of headstock/neck repairs. Aside from keeping the original serial numbers on the guitar, why wouldn't you just replace the neck instead of repairing it?
Last I heard new neck from Gibson is over $1000, plus sending them anything there is shipping and insurance cost, and it takes forever.
Dave, you never showed us the final result (up close). I was waiting to see how it turned out.
How about a closeup Dave
That was a masterclass. 👍
You seem to know your Fece's man !!!!
Maybe an stupid question... but what about the fingerboard?? Was it broken all the way through??
Or do they break above the nut. ?I’ve always owned strats and teles.
How much do you think all that glue boost product was?
Good job man.
Less than a new guitar
depends on the guitar lol..
I love ya Dave but I swear, I could see that headstock flying off and smacking up hard against the “Dave’s World of Fun Stuff” Banner you had hanging there. I owe you an apology O’ Great One.
Nice one. :)
Damn, Your Good!
Davey Notification Squad!
Those wood pins fucken brilliant
13,810 views and I'm the first one to like WTAF guys? Dave's videos are automatically an instant like before I even watch
So your original repair failed?
Why no splines??
Would like to have seen the guitar strung up , see if it stays in tune .
Hey Dave, first, I watch your adds!
That's nuthin' I also watch his subtracts
Instead of trying to be first, try playing you guitar, or try to learn how to spell instead...SMH
Nice job! Can you buy that glue in Toronto or do you have to order online?
Glue boost will Jack . It will break again without proper reinforcement.
Hence why the neck was epoxied and pinned, the glue boost was only used as a filler.
I can smell it a 1000 km away!
If your not gluing, you're filling! Super glue is not for filling! And the accelerator makes the glue less effective!
"a little huffy"? That accelerator is nasty stuff and toxic. Can you feel your brain cells floating off in a mist of organic vapors? I feel a bit traumatized today.. I need a good buffing :)
