Please use a good microphone, this hurts my ears.
sounds like a cyberman with laryngitis!
It sounds like you have your mouth right up to the mic. It seems to be making that low buzzing that you get when someone shouts really close to a mic.
I feel so sorry for Peter Capaldi. He should have had a Russell Era series.
What this episode needed was, weirdly, better set design.
yeah the writing for capaldis doctor was shite. the whole of his tenure of the doctor was shite. which is such a shame because he played a decent doctor.
Well, "The Zygon Inversion" and "Hell Bent" have some of the best Doctor-writing there is.
No they were shite. The speech was embarrassing.
@@yussepig6629 i think it was pretty good and I wasn't too fond of the 12th docto at the beginning but by doctor falls I wish there were more episodes.
@@ThePhantomLK heaven sent is brilliant, hell bent is god awful
They should re-name the episode the Forest of the shite.
Harry GW Crispy Pro?
@@HUDSON7 Me* If you look back on his old Q&As I was the one that suggested it and I'm pretty proud of that shit joke
No
Paused at 1:51 to say my daughters both did the overnight stay with teachers in a museum, here in the UK, just a few years ago... right, now get on with it.
10 years ago my class slept in an aquatic park, in these transparent passages through the tanks. Except me. I took a little too long, and the length of the tunnel was two kids too short :/
@@Axius27 that sounds fun
@@Gundam_JAY I spent a good chunk of that night lying awake watching this one shark swim in circles, waiting for dawn to break.
It was a nice way to spend the night as a kid with sleep issues
It's called the forest of the night because the forest appeared overnight....
STS1804 that kind of makes sense but it’s still misleading
@@maxlove8894 how is it misleading? They say multiple times in the episode that the forest appeared over night, it's actually incredibly obvious.
I though the girls older sister had "run away" when she was young and had been living in the Bush for most of her life 😄
This episode was so fucking stupid lmao
Kids actually do go on trips to sleep over at museums. It's actually quite common.
The writer who wrote this episode is writing another one in series 10 which will have emoji robots in it *sigh*
EXCELLENT!
hi sir Jake of the past, spoiler alert it sucked
tolmat4411 no it didn't
Matthew Walters Agreed
What episode
I had a school sleep over at 'the deep' in hull, an aquarium. It was cold by the large tank, and we were in a slope so we were slipping down the ramp and we were on the second floor, we could have fallen. I think u underestimate the stupidity of schools
We did in the science museum in London still don't really get why though
Yeah I’d say that’s stupid that’s way too exploitative for predators
This is unfortunately hilarious.. I was beginning to think I was the only one who feels like season 8 was a significant step backwards for the series I've adored over the years. Granted, There were still glimmers of genius here and there. however, as a whole, the season truly seemed but a shadow of it's former glory. How Utterly Disappointing!
I hated series 8 but in my opinion it is way better than series 9, 6, 7 and 2.
Harry GW 2?!?! Why?
Series 2!? How dare!! Although it does have 2 terrible episodes (the Olympic one and the absorbalof one).
@@barry1369 Series 2 was awesome.
@@TheRock-dp3vh new earth. Shocking. Tooth and Claw. Boring. School reunion. Apart from the goodbye scene it’s trash. If Sarah Jane wasn’t in it it would be really really bad. Idiot’s Lantern. Shit. Do I need to say more about love and monsters and fear her. The finale is so overrated. Can’t stand the romance between the doctor and rose. The doctor is 900 years old. Rose is 19. How weird is that?
I actually fondly remember going on a sleepover at the London science museum with the cubs
wouldn't it be funny if one of the children accidentally destabilised the TARDIS's engine causing a black hole to form.
A big problem with series 8 is that 90% of the episodes were written for Matt Smith, because at the time this series was being written he had signed on for Series 8 but then he changed his mind (another reason as to why this series felt like 'Clara Who', and there wasn't enough padding or fleshing out of Peter's Doctor. Which thankfully came in series 9). I feel that this episode as well a few others (kill the moon is one that springs to mind) would've worked better if Matt Smith had been the Doctor Still. However I 100% agree that this episode's biggest mistake was the children. There just so cringey to watch. But alas most of series 8 was terrible and cringey, and also bogged down due to child acting again *cough* The caretaker, kill the moon, *cough*,and lack of fleshing out of Peter's Doctor.
TheLoneLocus even Matt Smith couldn't have fixed kill the moon
@@alexturlais8558 it would have fit his themes though much better
I thought there was more good than bad this series, Deep Breath, Into The Dalek, Flatline, Mummy, and the Finale were all really good.
@@QuokkaCore Deep Breath was soooo boring and Death in Heaven was a let down. Into the Dalek was alright when it FINALLY got going after boring scenes of Clara and Danny. S8 was the worst series of new who until maybe S10, 11 and 12.
Into the Faldo was boring shit. Only Mummy and Flatline were good really.
*Proceeds to consume Microphone*
I enjoyed most of the review but the part with the Doctor forgetting how the kid looked is, unlike you said, completely logical.
The 12th Doctor was face-blind, we could clearly see it in the beginning of Deep Breath.
When I saw the tittle sequence and saw who wrote it I was like "Oh my god an episode that wasn't made by Steven, Maybe it'll be good!" But after I got two minutes in I realised I was wrong
Yeah... great idea, awful execution
+Harry's Moving Castle Well you can say this series went...Flatline. I'm sorry
+Harry's Moving Castle I thought of another pun. This series should make like a tree and leaf
The thing about politicians not picking up the phone to a little kid made me laugh given how the Impossible Astronaut plays out
when i was 10 i was pretending to be the doctor and i was fighting the pices of wood on my backyard
why did you make it a thing? Why Frank?
No way this episode should be scored lower than "Love and Monsters." "Love and Monsters" at least had the potential to be a good episode, this entire episode was just an abortion from start to finish.
I've slept in a museum twice before... once in the natural history museum as apart of their summer holiday campaign and another time in my local museum as a part of my school trip
The fact that the Trees grew over the Oceans is one of the stupidest things in the History of the show, and that’s saying something!
I freaking loathe Clara from the bottom of my heart
Jeez, I forgot how awful this episode was...
Least favourite episode ever probably, just awful
I love how so many of your criticisms are basically (but unknowingly) about the British school system lol😂
1:40 sleepovers in amusement parks, attractions, and museums are common, at least in the US. The battleship USS New Jersey has sleepovers for kids and teens as do most aquariums and many museums.
It's a good way to generate revenue for sites like the USS NJ that relies largely on grants and donations and it's a good opportunity for kids to have a pseudo-camping experience in cities where there may not be campgrounds or those same health-safety people might perceive a chaperoned sleepover in a WW2 battleship/museum/aquarium safer than getting eaten by a bear.
The kids in this series (Courtney especially, but also the others) retroactively make Adric bearable. At least he had the decency to die.
aka: "In the Forest, of a variety of trees (even growing on the sea but not through the buildings), fronds, shrubs and a hydrangea bush which hung around for a bit, of the night."
The episode is awful but saying the titles lies because it doesn't take place at night is pretty stupid. The title is a reference to the poem 'The Tyger', which has the forest of the night line in it. Also that part with the kids singing is something that happens a fair bit on school walks/hikes so it's kinda accurate and not a real criticism of the episode
Thanks for pointing out the reference to The Tyger, it was bothering me but I couldn't place where I knew the name from, and googling it just gave me the Doctor Who episode.
The ginger girl is the child actor who played PEPPA PIG!!!!!
I thought the missing girl was more like… brought back from the dead than literally being hiding in a bush? Like she’d been killed and the magic bought her back or something
I did a sleepover at Deep Sea World...
They have like $800,000 per episode, they could have managed to put some plants in the house.
Things like the sleep over and singing are things that happen in modern schools. I don't get the sleep over thing but singing is fine in schools these days.
My eardrums are dead
Joe Dinnie pretty much
I fucking DETESTED this episode. Ruined the rest of the season for me despite me loving Missy
hi i'm orla I hated her, but loved the mummy on the orient express, and into the dalek was fine. Everything else sucked. I loved season 10 missy though, especially world enough and time
Matilda was a great actor
Whys your 15m merits analysis private and will we ever be able to see it
Wanna know something, i went to a sleep over in a museum, boom
I thought season 8 had a rocky start. Wasn't amazing but I ended up loving season 9 and 10
I have to say, I'm in the US and they do sleepovers in the museum's for class trips occasionally. It's not that uncommon here in Philadelphia and NY. 🤷♀️
School sleepovers in some museums & educational places actually do happen IRL, just not very common. I know of 2 places in Australia that do it (or used to).
I actually had an organised sleepover in the Science museum in London when I was at Cubs
I'd love a remake of some of these older reviews.
It's a song sung by scouts, still don't know why the school sings it though
I love watching this review series in order, that you'll hop from 2021 videos to literally videos released 7 years ago.
By the way, that bush was growing on their DRIVEWAY. A PLANT WAS GROWING ON A DRIVEWAY!
With thw lack of other people, I assumed the country had been put on a local lockdown. If trees suddenly appear on your street your probably not going to go much further than your street, and those that do would only be exploring, not panicking. You don't run into the scary thing you don't know about.
About that school song, I remember it from my school days, so I'm pretty sure that's where it's from. The lyrics are stupid because it's written by kids 😂
I actually did sleep in a museum before for school or scouts
I remember staying overnight in the London museum during a high school trip
I actually have had a sleep over in a museum
I did a sleep over in a museum when I was younger I thought everyone did but na just my dumb ass health and safety
I really hate it when people criticise child actors, these kids get a privilege that not many like them get, SO DON'T ACT IN THIS WAY TOWARDS THEM!
Alright. Who turned on the overdrive pedal?
Having not seen any other Robbin Hood stuff I quite liked this episode, I liked the stuff between him, Clara and Robbin (it was actually funny)
I don't know, maybe a giant forest erupted over night which kind of ended their plans for the day.
Not their best episode but I can't say I hate any Dr Who episode. I enjoyed watching it.
think you are sitting too close to your microphone on this one mate....
My all time most hated doctor who episode. Although S11 has some contenders , but yeah this surpassed fear her for me ( In shiteness).
This episode was the worst, for me it rivals Fear Her, Asylum of the Daleks, Kill the Moon, and Hell Bent as my least favorite episode.
After re-watching you're season 8 review so fare i remember why i gave up on Doctor Who after season 8. I also remember why i were so happy and looking forward to getting a new Showrunner and a female Doctor....
Ohh hind sight 😢 Goes to re-watch Season 1 - 5
I'm sorry to say, "In The Forest of Night" is one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who. Although "In The Forest of Night" had a original idea, the episode itself was boring. It was not a great episode.
i don't know if they do that sort of thing over in the UK but i would think it can't be all that unheard of since they depicted it in the show. I know the aquarium in kentucky and i think the natural history museum both do "sleep overs" for school groups.
Interesting, I've never heard of that over here I'm afraid!
It happens all the time in the science museum. Its really common iin the UK.
This story was written by a writer who writes books aimed at children which is ok, but then it becomes unacceptable for this writer to have Selfies and stupid ass child actors. It's not Doctor Who, there is no actual alien. This episode was way too cringe
Amen
Although he did write about South Wales. That's Doctor Who isn't it?
If u think that its unfair or whatever about the depicition of the teachers.
I was choked in the middle of class by someone. And they did nothing. So.
This beats any story with Whittaker in it
I can't even tell anymore whether Peter Capaldi (or, for that matter, David Tennant or Jodie Whittaker) are good as the Doctor, because at least 80% of the New-Who episodes are so poorly written that Daniel Day-Lewis wouldn't be able to redeem them.
This is when I stopped caring about Doctor Who. Utterly terrible episode where the big takeaway is "save the trees". Season 11 may be the nail in the coffin, but this episode, at least for me, was the cause of death.
Why does it sound like your bass boosted throughout the whole thing
Also, Peppa Pig's VA is in this.
Thx, i love the first 5 Minutes and HATE the Rest of this Apisode, especially the Answer of it: The Planet saves itself! Sure! Who needs a Doctor at all? Dumb Episode, perfect Rating
1:27 You joke but... My school and scout groups have done this.
This episode is so bad it funny
That audio though 😂
Hey i had a sleep over at sea world as a kid for field trip lol
I thought it was good
I prefer this cute little girl over shielded any day of the damn week Hilda just got on my damn nerves sorry schilder / me / my f****** nerves
I choose hear it make hurt my ears in budget
Did you swallow the mic for this one or something?
Christopher Mays over Maisy any day of the week Macy's Splash Shield has the Raven Andy day of the Damned week she meant she got on my bitching nerves
Another god awful episode
You're a bit close to the mic my guy
Ye it did suck. No doubt about it.
This episode makes me glad I dropped the show
Such a shame that the episode has such a lame plot and story, the episode with the forest and all looks beautiful
Yeah, this one did.
Who knew the BBC could clickbait
Shout out that shikari tee
The song the kids sing is a real song kids have to sing in primary school
Your voice sounded worse than a mondasian cyberman.
When Power Rangers Ninja Steel has better effects and acting than your professionally made TV show them you have fucked up. At least you weren't cringing about the pandering involved since they didn't take selfies to my knowledge and certainly acted better than these little shits. This reminds me so much of that Guardians of The Galaxy cartoon where, for no reason, a guy decided to use an actual fucking selfie stick ro photograph them. I cringed so hard I skipped the episode.
I honestly think this is the worst episode of all time
It was sheer rubbish.
omg audio is shite
Next time, do some thorough research.
😆😆😆
I actually liked this episode, it was one of the better of the season 8 episodes
I’m sorry but saying “Bad child acting” is like saying “Wow Star Trek likes lens flares” or “Bey sure loves explosions.” It’s just very surface-level analysis.
My man was critiquing a 8 year old child’s acting...AN 8 YEAR OLD
And the episode is called forest of the night because it’s appeared overnight
ear rape
