The Ocean Gate co-founder strikes me as delusional. The idea of colonizing the moon, especially considering its lack of natural resources, does seem ludicrous. Although visions of the future are essential, it's equally important to stay grounded in reality.
It's an extreme version of living on your own island. Only this island provides zero resources so everything needs to be delivered. It's insane and bonkers expensive to sustain
I don’t understand what’s so impossible about it. Humanity has so many achievements that people don’t really understand the gravity of. We went from using stones to taking atoms something so small you couldn’t possibly comprehend its actual size and fuse them to make elements that probably have never existed in the history of our universe. So “staying grounded in reality” would have got humanity nowhere
The moon actually has a lot of valuable resources like Iron, Titanium, Uranium, Helium-3, and TONS of water ice. Colonization of the Moon would also be an important step in colonizing and exploiting the rest of the solar system, as it is a good place to mine the materials for and produce rocket fuel. It would be used as a good jumping off point, allowing us to launch lighter weight rockets with enough fuel to get to the moon and then pump them up with more fuel in the lower gravity of the Moon. This would allow us to get payloads farther and more reliably. With good automation, we could start mining resources from the asteroid belt between Mars and Earth, sending it back to earth without tearing up our soils. That isn't to say this loon is going to make it work, I'd rather trust my life to a rat than this dude, but the seed of his idea is correct.

I think they landed a few probes on Venus. If I remember correctly, the longest one barely made it 2 hours before it completely broke down from the mega harsh elements of Venus. But I'm sure we could figure out a way to live on there😂
Yeah, the surface is useless. However, about 50km up the temperature and pressure become comparable to Earth and if you had a floating platform you could go outside with just an oxygen mask and maybe an acid resistant suit. However oceangate is not gonna be the company to do it. That would be the biggest plot twist of the century
What notgreg123 said. Also note that Venus' atmosphere is ridiculously dense. Air would be a lifting gas, so you could live in a blimp, and not just in a little gondola under the blimp, but actually inside the gas compartment of the blimp. You still need water, supplies to repair your vessel periodically, etc. It's a pain in the ass, but less dumb than Mars in a lot of ways.

One thing that always kills me about the submarine implosion is how terrified the boy was of going down there with his dad. The boy didn’t want to even go 🤦♂️
No, there is most certainly going to be inward pressure in space. Since there isn’t anything out there in a near vacuum, the air inside the ship will want to explode outwards instead of collapse inward. Either way, this is a horrible idea in such a short amount of time.
Reminds me of Mars One; a plan/scam to create a doomed trailer park on Mars. I went to a series of space science talks in Switzerland when I was a teenager and the founder, Lansdorp, gave a presentation about Mars One and appealed for donations. The next guy who came on after him, a real scientist, started his presentation by just clowning on the guy and saying how it would never work.

The moon is actually a very essential phase in humanity's step to the stars. With low gravity brings basically free launch fuel costs, and the moon has plenty of natural resources.
The good things about lunar bases is if we ever have nuclear fusion (which would make or break us majorly going to other planets) lunar soil is actually incredibly rich in fusion fuel so it would be a massive ball of fuel right next to our planet that's why people are interested in the moon. A major downside is if we don't have fusion power then we don't need the moon
@@user-ci3km2xm6qbro no fuckin way I didn’t see these untill just now and when Charlie said this it blew my mind but damn it’s literally all right here
Ok,ok, Venus's surface is hell. We're not colonizing the surface. About 50km up, the temperature and pressure become comparable to earth and actually survivable (if a bit uncomfortable) with nothing more than an acid resistant suit and an oxygen mask But then you run into the problem of why the hell are we colonizing other planets when the moon works just as well and is 400 times closer, providing many of the same resources as Mars. All we'd get from a Venus colony is various gasses like CO2 which we already have too much of on Earth. I mean the moon could use some carbon for colonies but at that point it's so much easier to just ship from Earth
About the ending of the video: Charlie, you should really read "Three Body Problem". Aliens knowing we exist doesn't mean they have faster then light travel. I won't explain further, just read the book, or at the very least watch some videos about it here on UA-cam. I can highly recommend "Quinns ideas" 's video about the book series.
Ah, yes, let’s listen to this man, it’s not like he sent down several people in a submarine controlled by a Logitech controller and the submarine collapsed in on itself.

The one involving sssniperwolf? Didn't he already made a video about that

The thought of a double wide on the moon is amazing

I'd say use a PS4 controller but the f'n cord for recharging is only 4 damn inches
Use Wii controls, just keep the Wiimote upright to keep the rocket facing the stars!
Man out here trying to create the Futurama Moon Amusement Park.

Plot Twist: The guy is a murderer looking for excuses to kill people thru accidents
The moon doesn't have *no* resources. There's plenty of water, silicon, and aluminium.
I feel like mining the moon could end with some pretty bad consequences for earth
@@arthurp.8499 If all the materials stay on the moon, then the mass of the system doesn't change and there's no problem. Now, if a significant amount of them are taken off of the moon, then we could start to notice problems, though it would probably be a while before it's a real issue.
@@AUTTP4739-z8z a bot fighting against bots. What a time to be alive 😂
Nice how overcoming the bodily effects of 1/6 gravity isn't even a major talking point, if it is one at all.
How can this goofball start a colony on the Moon when Piccolo blew it up decades ago?

@@trevormcgady6012 and a lot of resources iirc, including helium III for nuclear fusion, way lower gravity making launching shit to other planets way easier

dude the shipping costs from USA to NZ are bad enough, I don't even wanna THINK about the shipping cost from earth to the moon

The pressure crushed the sub, so since space has no gravity, everything will be fine.
No, there is most certainly going to be inward pressure in space. Since there isn’t anything out there in a near vacuum, the air inside the ship will want to explode outwards instead of collapse inward. Either way, this is a horrible idea in such a short amount of time.
@@Unreliable_Arsonist Good point, I didn’t think about it
@@ralphyreece4687 That’s alright, I’m just trying to be informative, not condescending.
To charlie's last point, any alien civilization that is able to reach us, would literally see humanity like humanity sees ants. Pretty cool, somewhat intelligent in terms of survival and able to build some wacky structures. That's it.

The moon is actually a very essential phase in humanity's step to the stars. With low gravity brings basically free launch fuel costs, and the moon has plenty of natural resources.

would rather a non private company to colonise and utilise the resources of non earth materials.
@cintaminbunny it has water ice, and if you have water, it's easy to make oxygen via electrolysis.

"venus easier than mars" should be proof that this man isnt there mentally
@OfficerMAPPride4erm what the sigma
@@user-ci3km2xm6qbro no fuckin way I didn’t see these untill just now and when Charlie said this it blew my mind but damn it’s literally all right here
Dude u got child pern in a commenters profile on ur response wtf
Ok,ok, Venus's surface is hell. We're not colonizing the surface. About 50km up, the temperature and pressure become comparable to earth and actually survivable (if a bit uncomfortable) with nothing more than an acid resistant suit and an oxygen mask
But then you run into the problem of why the hell are we colonizing other planets when the moon works just as well and is 400 times closer, providing many of the same resources as Mars. All we'd get from a Venus colony is various gasses like CO2 which we already have too much of on Earth. I mean the moon could use some carbon for colonies but at that point it's so much easier to just ship from Earth
Istg, that pediatric saw minecraft's space mod and went, "ITS POSSIBLE, WE CAN DO IT TOO"
As soon as man get to the moon you know there’s going to be a ray gun built

About the ending of the video: Charlie, you should really read "Three Body Problem". Aliens knowing we exist doesn't mean they have faster then light travel.
