After 7-8 years I started cycling again for commuting, It feels really tiring and exhausting to travel 6kms on a hilly terrain. I only have experience riding flat terrain, Is it usual for me to feel like this?, will I be able to improve over time? I would like to get any tips and advice to speed up my progress.
HIlls will always add a challenge to our rides. Riding more hills will help you over time and with practice they will get a bit easier. The major factor with hills is the weight of the bike and the rider, you are fighting gravity and the lighter the better. Stick with those hills and push hard, mix up standing and sitting, hopefully you'll find the hills get a little easier with practice.
