6:20 is one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard in a video game,it gave off such a melancholy feel and perfectly encapsulated the 'no turning back' feeling of the scene. V knew by killing Reed, their chances of living a long and complete life is over,Songbird had betrayed them, manipulated their empathy to save her own life. And yet it's far too late to turn back now. Far too many innocent lives had died for this to be zilch, and though Songbird had betrayed them,V understood her desire to survive,to escape from the hellhole created by Myers and the NUSA,and they sure as hell ain't going to condemn her to a life of misery driven by an egomaniac's will to control the uncontrollable. So V in spite of being betrayed, still sent Songbird off to the Moon, sacrificing their chances of a better life for someone else's. And as V watched the rocket taking off,all they could wish for is for Songbird to live a long and fulfilling life at their expense.
Insanely well done, you get transported trough so much emotions, even without the game you understand that this ost is about an ending, tough and full of difficult choices but you have to see things through no matter what, cause its too late now. Facing the consequences and moving forward. Absolutely master piece, can't wait to listen to new music from the next cyberpunk anime / futur game.
That's my second playthrough. First time I went for firecrackers, now for the killing moon. It is incredible infeed, by how much can you hope for something, maybe even find it but lose it all in the end
So I've been drawn to Cyberpunk through the music preference. Retro synthwave style. I'm a cyber enthusiast and professional. What am I about to embark on? I've never played this game, but it's calling me. Everyone is recommending this to me.
As an older gamer, this has been one of the very few games that felt like it was written for adults. It can be difficult to describe, I think everyone that played it took some version of their own meaning from it. In a city where it's legally required to own a gun, Night City is a cold and violent place. It's like a metal giant constantly looming in the background, reminding you that even thinking about hope is pointless. Your life means nothing to it, or the people in it. And NC doesn't offer any "good endings" either. But it's an experience that will stay with you...if you can stay with it until the end. I felt like I was walking into a completely different, and new world. I've spent over 727hrs in that world now, and I still keep going back to Nighty City. And I also can't stress this enough, but this is a next-gen game. Meant to played on the latest consoles or PC. Please don't play this on your PS4. lol
I love how devastating the beginning of this theme is. It really encapsulates how V must have been feeling when he finds out the truth... but then in the end, there is some hope. In my play through, V doesn't sell out, and he stays true to his friends even when they don't stay true to him.
When Songbird gives you that look and this starts playing you just know what's coming. She doesn't even need to say anything more. Like Johnny says she's a bastard to the core. I still put her on that ship tho, because F Mr self righteous.
Alas, the King of Wands ending was my second in my playthrough. The first time, there was the King of Swords. Afterwards, I felt why I didn’t do the first time as I did the second time and still torment myself with this thought when remembering Phantom Liberty. But, apparently, you can’t deceive yourself here and you acted then as you considered necessary. Then, I also played the King of Cups ending, no matter how painful it was for me. Let me note, “painful”, not “difficult”. I didn't play the other endings, that was enough for me. A masterpiece game.. During my first playthrough (February 2023), I couldn't get away from the game and played for a week every day until I completed the main story and some side quests. I didn’t even watch UA-cam back then. There are no more games like this, at least not yet.
2:24: “Reed’s not the only one I betrayed…” This line, this fucking line… I got this ending after getting The Devil ending for the base game, the ending where you betray pretty much everyone, but especially yourself. Then in Phantom Liberty, I betrayed Reed out of sympathy for her and her situation, and tore through an entire army to save her, only for her to reveal her betrayal. And at that moment it clicked. The V I was playing as, and So-Mi were one in the same. V betrayed so many people, including his closest allies, the one who saved his life, in a desperate bid for self preservation. This is exactly what So-Mi had been doing all along as well. Reed was far from the only one both of them betrayed, but I refused to let V betray her, betray another friend, another ally, one that could prevent him from making the same mistakes he made in a previous ending. So I saved her.
So real, who could have been a better person to understand than V ? Same story, same issue, not the same decisions. I prefer thinking that what we made by hijacking the rocket will open us some doors to new solutions to save ourself by the few months that V have left, and even if we don't, V will be able to be proud of his life. But, isn't killing her the best solution ? When you find out that the rocket pass and shit was all planned by Mr. Blue eyes, who could know what he's gonna do with songbird ? With all the informations we got rn, we can think that Blue Eyes is an AI, so ... Anyways, there was not a single chance that the NUSA got songbird back, even on the top of the building Myers said to find her by any means necessary BUT not to shoot her in the head, so we can imagine that even if she died, they would have recovered his brain or something like that to use it again.
You can partly understand So Mi, she's fighting for life just like us, and she's very similar to V. In the end she repented for using us, even though she was on the verge of death. V is the kind of person who comes to the rescue even in death and doesn't ask for anything in return. And we're saving her on principle. Which makes it even sadder to kill Reed, who was trapped by President Myers' principles. He, without realizing it, is about to condemn her to eternal torment for Rosalind's smug ambitions. Everyone deserves a second chance
Cure or no cure, sometimes making decisions isn’t about what’s logical or beneficial, sometimes you need to make a choice only because you feel in your heart and gut that it’s the right choice to make. Of course I helped her get to the moon.
I love this ost. Great ending too. As for the context…I couldn’t put my V’s predicament over a sentient digital death portal that may be too far gone for treatment anyhow. (I’m aware of the irony of that statement) But Myers not getting what she wants and Alex getting to rest finally makes it worth it as well.
THIS GAME ALWAYS FINDS A WAY TO TEAR ME IN PIECES SINCE I FINISHED CYBERPUNK WITH DONT FEAR THE REAPER ENDING AND THEN EDGERUNNERS ANIME AND THEN THIS WE GO LIBERTY BUT GOTTA DEAL WITH PHANTOM OF IT
To me, the best ending is sending Songbird off on a rocket ride. It's the only ending that gives more than just a ghostly freedom. To me, V is a do-gooder who helps those around him and asks for nothing in return. After going through the two endings we find out how much ordeal So Mi has been through and it becomes really pathetic. The meeting with Mr. Blue Eyes and our further flight to the space station fits into this ending. And who knows, maybe we will meet there. Mr. Blue-Eyed promised us more than we can imagine. I'd like to believe that's the case.
phantom liberty is such a great DLC it is super sad CD Projekt RED are giving up on this despite is bad start it made up and made even better! they should not give up on it. Bring out more!
They are not giving up, quite the opposite actually. They are going to do much more on the sequel, for them CP77 was just a "warmup" as they stated, and it indeed was kind of an experiment as they never did something like that. They cannot do anything else on CP77 because of the limitations of their RED Engine. The next Cyberpunk game has the potential to be the single best rpg out there, I hope they won't mess this one. Wait and see, samurai.
The sad part of Phantom Liberty is the best move is not to play it. Side with So Mi: - A lot of people in the stadium die. Some might even deserve it, but that's not a free pass to mass civilian murder. I know people are going to call out all the other people V's killed, but all of them were wanted gangoons and had bounties to be collected; this situation is nothing like that. - The space port becomes a War Zone and you're an accomplice to that act of worldwide terrorism; Two brutal atrocities occur to save one person, and while this might please Johnny, I don't think we should be taking the route that pleases an Anarchist. I love the guy, but a lot of good people end up on your conscience here. - You hand her over to Mr. Blue Eyes; his hands are all over this, and considering the rabbit hole he's apart of? I don't find much comfort in that. Side with Reed: - A lost, scared young woman is forced to die or lose herself. - The FIA (and Myers) get their WMD back. - Alex gets ended two days from retirement. - V gets screwed by the FIA; I don't really buy their story about V not being able to live with combat implants. I think they were just preemptively removing a threat from their board, and gave V a "kindness" by not offing them for being a loose end. I think the best ending is her death, or to never touch this situation and let Myers die. If you must play this game, don't give Myers the power So Mi wields. What an excellently written conundrum; I love the base game, I love the gnawing sort of dread that gave you, but this is just... it's something else. Cyberpunk 2.0 was a fun jaunt, but now I'm invested in the universe here. I like the darker undertones and more serious writing on display here. I'm going to be chewing on this for awhile, I think.
To me, King of Wands is the only ending. To carry a soul lost toward freedom, toward life. Anything else is despicable. (And this is having chosen King of Pentacles on my first run.)
It might have started with a promise to save myself, but at the end, with everything I've learned about Songbird, it was all for her anyway. The lie didn't matter one bit to me.
This is perfect for something I have in mind for the future *"There once was a paladin who was born a sorcerer who had struggled to follow a path to devotion until he had lost everyone he knew and loved. His friends, family, even comrades, all dead. With such grief and loss came a new path, to vengeance upon the elven oathbreaker and the masked warlock who burned his hometown, turned the dead into zombies, and later slaughter a citadel full of holy knights. With a sword on one hand and a shield on the other, he would vanquish the monsters who brought such despair upon him and any who would do the same. No child should ever face such loss like he felt."* Edit: *"Quested to find and recover a cleric who he considered was like a sister, the paladin finds himself trapped on the land known as Barovia. A country ruled by a vampire lord. Now, with the sun constantly blocked and no way to escape, he must fight alongside new allies and combat hags, wolves, and the undead to regain his freedom and that of everyone lost within the land."*
The digital world of Cyberpunk 2077, with its neon-lit streets and gritty underbelly, had always been a place of stark realities. But never had I felt the weight of those realities so acutely as I did in the aftermath of Songbird's betrayal. I had poured my heart and soul into the mission, believing that Songbird would be the key to our salvation. Her lies, her deception, felt like a gut punch. The hope I had clung to shattered into a thousand pieces. Johnny's words, "Can always call Reed," echoed in my mind, a stark reminder of the choices I had made. I refused Reed's offer, a decision born from a stubborn pride and a desperate desire to prove myself. But as I sat alone in the aftermath, the emptiness was overwhelming. The realization that Songbird, the one I had trusted, had betrayed me, left me feeling raw and exposed. It was a harsh lesson, one that mirrored the harsh realities of the world I inhabited. The idea of a "happier ending" seemed like a distant dream, a fantasy that couldn't exist in a place as gritty and unforgiving as Night City.
I imagine V samurai standing on the building with thermal katana, next to him looking at the rain,Saying I saved a person,so many people died, even though I didn't receive a cure, but as long as I'm alive I will fight with the corporations and the government.
Phantom Liberty endings be like: Feeling powerless for moral and political reasons or Feeling powerless because an AI God has invaded an indestructible robot that wants to kill you
This song reminds me of dune and the bene gesserit (especially the song of the sisters song) so much that it’s almost hard for me to see it fall into a world like this, but i still love it so much! Still haven’t been able to experience the expansion for the first time yet so im really curious to know where and how this song plays in the game
Even though so mi had betrayed us that it was better to push forward, because to turn her in at the last step would've made everything meaningless. So much destruction for nothing. And two because at least so mi can have a life. And lastly because the nusa tried to make me their attack dog at the expense of everyone in tycho terminal, and lastly because I wanted to set the world aflame with the 5th corporate war.
So mi did betray us but in the end she was finally honest with v, like v could have just killed her after she said the neural matrix can only be used once, but she still said it, meaning she has gained trust back in v, in everyone again, thus sending her to the moon seems like a right choice cause we gave her another chance to live in freedom, without nusa, without betrayal, without worshipping
I don't think they ever released it on an official album, same with some of the other background music/themes. But hey, that's what this channel is for. 😉
dont think its a particular song. there are definitely segments from a couple. look up: never looking back, just another weapon, contra la luna and phantom liberty.
the best outcome for cyberpunk phantom liberty is, play the regular game as normal, side with reed, complete the cynosure quest and kill so mi so she doesnt have to work for myers, then go back and do dont fear the reaper and let johnny or v take the body in both respects the temperance ending where V after they storm Arasaka tower side by side makes sense for me and finally if you choose the v to stay alive V takes on what i can only assume is some bad ass gig in space

Songbird is supposed to mirror v - she's dying and willing to do anything to survive, just like us. and for that, she's being hunted by the feds. sure, V won't get to share that cure like promised, but you have the chance to help save a woman's life and give a big F U to the govt. that seems like something my V would happily do
@@TheDudeSmashTrash I went for that ending
@@TheDudeSmashTrashthink he went for the other ending the one in cynosure, or the one where you hand so mi to reed in the cutscene ending you loose judy, panam, river and kerry, Vik is lost to to corps Jackies obviously dead and most of all you lose your pride for sending So mi back to slave for myers and you lose johnny
@@Harrison0712 imo betraying songbird to help the govt goes against everything the cyberpunk genre stands for on a thematic level
@@TheDudeSmashTrash you do it for the black wall cyberdeck, and plus you can still let reed move on, best way in my eyes, i mean unless you dont care about reed thats fair enough but if you betray so mi and kill her in the end to make sure she dont have to go back to the gov, sol reed will start a new life as well in a better place and as a better man which i think is the best outcome for what everyone needed, also if you truly think about it nightcorp aint no arasaka or nusa but so mi goes to the lunar colony with nightcorp and mr blue eyes for some unknown reason so yeah the fact your sending her with another corporation literally means both sides of the coin end in similar way unless you specifically kill her in cynosure.
This game/story is a straight 10/10.
It wasn't about the cure, So Mi.
I'm just glad one of us is free.
she knew that she should of come clean, but she was scared and desperate so she kept it to herself, BUT she confessed before she was on the ship, so thats something i guess.
@@CrimsonRayne however this was fine , until she says that she didnt really feel much regret doing that to us than what she felt for reed. That line stumped me , there was nothing else she could have said that would have made me felt so little as that line did in that moment. I just thought, i hope nobody has to listen to this but I would still save so mi
@@sir.sleepsalot2711 she said she regretted not being honest with V before she dozed off, I don't remember the line your talking about tbh. She still had to follow through with the plan but In my eyes, her last ditch effort of being a good person is that she confessed and the player makes the choice how her story ends. In some way, she completely trusted V or trusted V would chose an ending/punishment for her no matter what it was. She tried
King of Wards brother, always
Song gives me Ghost in the shell vibes
This universe has a funny way of making you launch the girl you care about to the moon, huh?
When I first started playing this game I did not expect much from it story wise. I thought that it was just gonna be GTA but in the future. Boy was I never happier to be so wrong. This is one of the few games that actually made me feel something.
Brings tears to my eyes everytime, especially 2:23. :(
Teared up when I saw So Mi go up in the rocket.
also 7:23
that's literally just Phantom Liberty

2:24 "Reed''s not the only one i've betrayed"
Everything she did.. she did it to survive Just Like V.. And I made sure regardless Of her mistakes to see her dream come true.. To live free And Away from all corps that wants to enslave her to they're needs.. Fly high bird.. Watch us from up there
So Mi best girl.
It is incredible infeed, by how much can you hope for something, maybe even find it but lose it all in the end
the background would make an amazing live wallpaper tbh
5:09 The pitch decreasing has got to be one of the most depressing sounds ever
When Songbird gives you that look and this starts playing you just know what's coming. She doesn't even need to say anything more. Like Johnny says she's a bastard to the core. I still put her on that ship tho, because F Mr self righteous.
I was not prepared for how good the original tracks are for this DLC
2:24: “Reed’s not the only one I betrayed…”
This line, this fucking line…
I got this ending after getting The Devil ending for the base game, the ending where you betray pretty much everyone, but especially yourself.
This game got me.
No game has ever made me feel so miserable, yet, I’d say it’s the best thing I’ve ever played and will play
For all the strength I had as V; I've never felt so powerless in a game.
This is already nostalgic. How fast time goes by.
The only game that is totally the most immersive to me to the point that I don't realize It's a game anymore...
7:22 Found out
Treasures are always lost
the transition between this song and the ending song is.......who am I?
Cure or no cure, sometimes making decisions isn’t about what’s logical or beneficial, sometimes you need to make a choice only because you feel in your heart and gut that it’s the right choice to make.
Of course I helped her get to the moon.
I love this ost. Great ending too.
As for the context…I couldn’t put my V’s predicament over a sentient digital death portal that may be too far gone for treatment anyhow. (I’m aware of the irony of that statement)
But Myers not getting what she wants and Alex getting to rest finally makes it worth it as well.
Thanks for the upload choom, on towards the next existential crisis
@@bandenwesen Hell yeah! I'm ready for it!
Phantom Liberty asks you, will you play the game the city forces you to ? or will you beat it at all costs
@@pedropierre9594 Someone has to win the game, even if it isn't me. The city can't always win... That's what I think my V would feel like.
To this day, I don't know if I made the right decision, sending Songbird to the moon.
I don't think I ever will.
Wait and see, samurai.
they're not "giving up" on the game - they're simply shifting focus entirely to the next game
2:23 don't mind me, just putting down a personal timestamp
4:26 - 5:45 😭😭
😭
one of the best ending scene ever created in a video games
Listeting to this imaging Night City spaceport... rain... shuttle to the moon.
Лучший саунтрек который я слышал!
The sad part of Phantom Liberty is the best move is not to play it.
Side with So Mi:
- A lot of people in the stadium die.
Side with Reed:
- A lost, scared young woman is forced to die or lose herself.
I've never played the game, but this ost is just insane
This is perfect for something I have in mind for the future
*"There once was a paladin who was born a sorcerer who had struggled to follow a path to devotion until he had lost everyone he knew and loved. No child should ever face such loss like he felt."*
Edit: *"Quested to find and recover a cleric who he considered was like a sister, the paladin finds himself trapped on the land known as Barovia. A country ruled by a vampire lord. Now, with the sun constantly blocked and no way to escape, he must fight alongside new allies and combat hags, wolves, and the undead to regain his freedom and that of everyone lost within the land."*
Nice writing!
You are free 🕊

This song reminds me of dune and the bene gesserit (especially the song of the sisters song) so much that it’s almost hard for me to see it fall into a world like this, but i still love it so much!
Still haven’t been able to experience the expansion for the first time yet so im really curious to know where and how this song plays in the game
If you loved this story, then you'll love the expansion. In some ways Phantom Liberty felt even better written, more consistency.

its 6:20, god damned.
Which song is this on the album
I don't think they ever released it on an official album, same with some of the other background music/themes.
But hey, that's what this channel is for. 😉

the best outcome for cyberpunk phantom liberty is, play the regular game as normal, side with reed, complete the cynosure quest and kill so mi so she doesnt have to work for myers, then go back and do dont fear the reaper and let johnny or v take the body in both respects the temperance ending where V after they storm Arasaka tower side by side makes sense for me and finally if you choose the v to stay alive V takes on what i can only assume is some bad ass gig in space
Nah best ending is so mi, she’s just the same as you and V in her position wouldve done the same thing. They were both clawing for survival and you get the choice to atleast save one of you
