Having beaten TotK, I’ve come back to this and watched the rest, and man. I was not prepared for that ending. 6 years of waiting and years of teasers and expectations, and they f***ing delivered. I cried tears of the Kingdom.
"I can create anything. I'm creating cars, i'm creating vehicles, i'm creating flying vehicles, i'm creating cars". I get what you are saying but man that was funny.
Thank you for this conversation about the game! As someone who wasn’t a big fan of BotW I really appreciate the open discussion rather than a hard review with a score. Thank you for talking about some of the issues with BotW and how they have improved those aspects, this is one of the biggest things I wanted to hear discussed. Always love Kinda Funny’s coverage, great job ,Bless!
I sometimes have a hard time getting myself to get through big, open games like BOTW (Even though I loved it from the start). Blessing did a Breath of the Wylin' podcast with OK Beast that I randomly stumbled upon that helped me hype myself up to finally push to get a lot further into the game and I'm so glad I did. My favorite game of all time! And thanks to you, Blessing, I remember when you came to Kinda Funny and getting hyped because I recognized your voice from Wylin!
I'm the same way. What I find is that I single out one game and only put my focus on that game. I put 600 hours into Assassins Creed Odyssey which I have my own list of reviews and I still consider that to be my favorite open world game of all time.
@vagrantender5779 such an amazing adventure game. The kind of game you could pick if you could only take one to a deserted island! So much to see and do.
Listened to the start of this and like what i'm hearing. Getting me hyped. But i stopped when bless started talking about what has happened to locations as time has passed as i kind of want some wow moments for myself and i want to keep those questions as i'm exploring as my curiosity in seeing what has happened to familiar places will no doubt influence which direction i explore in. But i'll be back to watch this afrer i've played the first 20 hours this weekend.
Okay, don't wanna be that guy, but as someone who enjoyed BotW, but thought it was incredibly overrated, I'm kinda worried that this is just a lot more of the same, only with Nuts and Bolts crafting, except we like it now because Zelda is cooler than Banjo, I guess. Like, the dungeons were short, and bad, all the boss fights were bad, the shrines were largely boring and repetitive, the open world was pretty, but felt populated by not a lot more than random enemy mobs, of which there were like 3 varieties, the story was 4 cutscenes in a trenchcoat spread over 100 hours, and weapon degradation was the worst implementation of a mechanic no one likes. Shocked it's 'the best game in the world to so many', but even accepting that people think that, I'm still not sure what this game offers aside from a bigger map, and kart building.
Blessing im happy you loved it. Doing an half day at work today and have a week off to play this gem. Put over 400hrs onto BOTW and still finding stuff.
70 hours in and I have the same little critic, I wish the combat was more fresh with new abilities and ideally a combat skill tree. Also, would have liked a little more enemy variety.
Blessing if you see this, I have a question. Regarding the similarities of reusing Hyrule from the first game to this one. Would you compare it to how bloodborn old hunters DLC took the same area, but revamped the entire thing because they went to the past. Or you wouldn’t say they revamped it to that extent? Because I’m trying to get a good sense of what do you mean when you say they have more points of interest so that makes me assume that everything is the exact same. Every route is the exact same. However, every major and minor point of interest before probably has overgrown vegetation and different enemy placements possibly new buildings that’s what I’m assuming.
Excited to listen to this but it's a bummer Nintendo was so stringy about codes. I would love to hear a review that's more than just one experience and others asking questions. Maybe down the line? Seems worth it for this game.
Blessing says to play 4 hours and come back for the spoilerish section of the review, but I didn’t get to that section until about 12 hours in. To be fair, I was very lost, and didn’t know where to go.
My biggest fear of ToTK is the building aspect. I love BoTW, but building isn't something I like doing in games. Can anyone let me know how much the building aspect is integrated in the game? Because from the trailers, it seems it's integral to completing missions/storylines.Btw, I'm asking while I just started the video so it may have been answered already 🙂
Seems they've improved a lot of the world design and narrative design, but also kind of stagnated on the weapon durability and combat design. Looking forward to getting it, even with some caveats.
I still think it feels unfinished, sorta indie earky access but big scale. I mean nintendo is a HUGE company with HUGE wallets and stillcant afford proper voice acting? Like sure i can read but when the AAA game industry standard is so much higher with voice acting and polish this game still doesnt deserve to get the review scores it does… Its a great game, but you have to look at what it could have been if Nintendo wasnt cheaping out on us… Sure we can agree gameplay is the most important but when a company like Nintendo cut corners like they were a tiny indie studio, on a flagship title? That is not doing their best… That is not trying to give us the best product they possibly can… That is basically giving us a techdemo, another gameplay idea showcase so they can sell early access copies hoping to finance updates that will polish it to a finished product. But the updates wont come. I would give it an 8 maybe a 9 out of 10.
I personally haven't been able to get into BotW, there's just something missing imo (likely the lack of dungeons or that it just never felt like the world was in danger, that I needed to do anything other than run around), and I get bored of the world very quickly. I am excited to play Tears though
Why isn’t Pokémon being made with this engine? It seems like this could be revolutionary if they take the things happening currently in Pokémon games and apply this to it.
1:00:00. Lol! This is as GOTY as it gets. This game is as sure as getting GOTY as Elden Ring. Where God of War R turned out to be "more of the same". Tears actually does a Galaxy 2 Congrats Nintendo. You actually did it

@@EveryTimeIDavid So if I made a game that is 100 hours long and its 95 hours of cutscenes and 5 hours of gameplay would say the gameplay was flawless in the review or point out the fact its only 5 percet gameplay XD bruh come on hahahaha
Don't worry, with Greg at the helm TOTK will not win GOTY for KF. It'll probably go to a mascot 6 hour experience like Ratchet & Clank that needs a 50GB download on release...... On PS5 no doubt.
I hope you don't imply this for Spider-Man 2 later this year. I currently love TotK but depending on how differently & surprisingly Insomniac takes the sequel, I can see myself putting more time into it over Zelda

@@tripandfall2379 Ragnarok was definitely WAY more than DLC for the 2018 game, I felt it blew the original out of the water in terms of scope, story, graphically, you name it. I played on PS5 though. The biggest issues with BotW was the lack of legacy dungeons and the combat difficulty, both of which got corrected in TotK.
