- Here it is again, Mortal Kombat 2 on the PSX, Japanese version… however this time we are playing through using the artful scaling feature which zooms in on characters the closer there are to each other. How does it look and what impact does this have on gameplay? Check it out in this fun play through!
Enjoy! - Ігри
I cant believe i never realized after all these years that Katanas death kiss fatality is somewhat a homage to Big Trouble in Little China when Thunder self implodes lol
I like it. Not like that of Art of Fighting or Sam Sho quality but it definitely adds to the game's presentation.
Still love watching you play these MK games! Hope you never get tired of it bud!!!
man, never expected to see a nice little respectful nod to the original ‘art of fighting’ (snk) in a mortal kombat game with that artfull scaling feature
Cool feature, kinda gimmicky so I’m glad it wasn’t the only way to play that version 👊🏼
The scaling effect reminds me more of arcade Pit Fighter.
I can see that 👊🏼
Kinda cool. It's nice to have the option. Kitana definitely looked frustrating. Nice flawless against Kintaro. Enjoyed the video. 👊🩸
Thanks bro, it was “neat” lol
looks like Kitana on this one is harder than the arcade version with the air fan throws. Normally I wait for her to throw the fan on the ground, jump right up on her then uppercut and she'll never counter it on the arcade.
This looks crisp bro wow never seen it look so clean. I feel you on the Japanese flare to the music 🎶. Definitely suits the game as well.
An impressive port in its own right, I became a fan of this soundtrack almost immediately. Thanks for the support my friend 👊🏼
Excellent way to finish off Kitana once and for all.
No Friendship for her.
The sound of the electric beam on the Portal stage sounds like a fart in this version.
It looks like an interesting mode and not too distracting... Maybe kung Laos throwing hat fatality might give you a hard time with all that scaling
The details stay exactly the same with zooming in. Sadly, it's very pixelated.
the scaling is great adds something different to mk2
Great videos as always. But i speak for most of your fans when i ask when can we expect thr next sub zero mythologies?
Thanks Mool, and it’s on its way lol
This is shaping up to being one of my favorite ports of MKII. The AI seems a lot more chill, plus all these cool cheats too. I dig the scaling also.
How Did I Not Know MK2 Was On Playstation One Back in The Day LOL I Had Game Pro Magazines And All That Stuff
I think it was Japan only for some reason. And a US console would not play Japanese discs unless you had your system modded or a memory card that was a converter. I have Virtua Fighter 10th anniversary and Virtua Fighter 2 sealed for PS2 I got on ebay, and a Japan PS2 slim, and those Virtua Fighter games were never released in the US for PS2. I never opened the games yet. I have a US fat and slim PS2 as well.
8:37 Dun Dun 😂 I’ll do my own music
😂
SNES pit II looks the best. Even better than the arcade. It has more depth to it
22:00 This is the first version where I can clearly understand the "Kidd Thunder" speech
The loading is pretty unbearable; usually a hallmark of early PS1 games. That said, I still would have loved this back in the day.
A short loading time before each round would be tolerable imo, but loading during gameplay is an absolute no-go. It destroys the flow of the game.
Its fun its different look .With what you play your japanese ps1 game ???
Scaling is pretty neat! Makes the action a bit more cinematic.
Interesting and good evening
I really liked this port. Easy to play and looked nice.
Agreed 👊🏼
The feature is cool
❤ my name has been spoken! thank you for the content!
Other weird versions
Amiga, it's like a graphically sharper Genesis port-- has pretty weird music, but great sound effects
Saturn, is essentially the PS1 version with no cheats, the input delay with original hardware on a crt felt like your character had super Mario ice physics- even weirder music (using saturn's sound chip instead of the cd) and the AI 100% of the time does fatalities
SNES Japan, nearly identical to the US version but with green blood and b&w fatalities
Also there's an independent team working on a 3DO port currently- ua-cam.com/video/l0isYaXTfl0/v-deo.htmlsi=1hSwJRHVUWl8iqRw completely for fun, and is worth checking out in the future
Also a Jaguar port is in development (a fan project). 3DO and Jaguar have the potential for arcade perfect ports, and so far I know it will contain some optional extras like more blood and new colors for the characters.
I’ve seen clips of that 3DO version, the movement looks a little strange but overall it looks pretty decent 👊🏼
I did a live stream for mortal kombat 2 yesterday morning. This game is pretty decent though.
I gotta try some of this cheats my self good video brother 👊🏼
Thanks dude 👊🏼
how's the loading on emulation? some emulators let you increase the cdrom speed, or allows you to load the whole disc into system ram
From what I played, same thing.
Are you playing on a ps1 or a ps2? Ps2 can smooth the sprites and possibly eliminate some loading screens, it's in the console menu.
so basically what SNK did with art of fighting
Been wanting a copy of this for a while! Too bad it was never released in the US. MK2 should have been released on the Sega CD also!
For some reason the scaling makes me feel like I'm about to seizure 😆 Very cool to see it though, thanks for showing it to us!
Yo, I feel the same. Made me madd dizzy. Looks cool but I'm so used to it not scaling
I've Always Liked How Cocky Johnny Cages Character is 😂
For some reason the scaling reminds me of the time I played Quake in the Oculus VR in swivel chair mode. It's actually making me sick I can't handle it.
Ack! The intro music is in the wrong key! ....Proooooobe!!!!
Funky regardless lol
If this is anything like Probe's genesis port, using the cheat menu may lock the difficulty on extra hard.
Interesting..
Very cool version of the game. Love the soundtrack. The scaling gives the game a little more theatric feel. Each hit has a little more impression but the zooming in/out does get a little nauseating.
I hear ya, good comment my friend 👊🏼
Neat effect, already throws me off though.
Neat indeed lol
Can You Do a Play Through With Kitana on Arcade ?
I’ve done that fairly recently 👊🏼
The lack of Fatality music is actually what bothers me the most lol
I grew up with mk trilogy so I'm guess I'm conditioned to ignore the loading time
There are MK mugens that do the scaling thing MUCH better. And the coloring in this version is way off, so what's up with that?
This version is 30 years old so Mugens doing the scaling better makes sense, as for the colour it could just be the way I record videos by point and shooting 👊🏼
There was a similar port to The Sega Saturn.
Looks a bit strange to me, they should have put some more time into that and made it a persistent feature
You Do a Good Job of Saying Noob Saibot You Sound Like Kahn
Lol thanks 👊🏼
Freaking Probe man… notice that NONE of these problems exist in MK3, or MKT, heck, even MK4 on PS1 is solid.. this is just bad programming… nonetheless, amazing feature and good video!
It looks so good but it’s got some serious flaws. 200+ bucks for a copy on eBay though? Ouch.
Yup it definitely ain’t cheap, it had potential but was still overall a very fun port 👊🏼
The scaling looks more like a distraction than anything else. Very gimmicky. The game itself like the other video is beautiful and sounds great. The load times are a deal breaker though.
I agree. Cool to play through with this feature on… once. Doubt I’d ever use it again. Thanks for the comment bro 👊🏼
The music is all over the place in this port. Wtf
acid pit...rookie mistake...
I guess it's just different levels of patience, but I think this version is garbage. The constant, CONSTANT loading, the bad music, the music playing in the wrong spots, the smiley face in the corner incessantly popping up, I hate it, lol. I don't like the scaling at all, either.
Goodness gracious that was negative. Here's the positive, though: good gameplay, and I appreciate your commentary on how it feels and how the gameplay differs from the other versions. Allows me to learn about a version I never have and never will play. Good stuff!
Thanks brother I appreciate it, as for the music being garbage I gotta disagree, nothing like drinking a Sapporo and listening to Japanese style MK2 music lol the smiling faces was only because of the cheat code but the MK2 logo in its place is no better. The loading… well… it sucks. 👊🏼
@@BushyStallion And here I’m learning even more about this version. Hell yea.
