    Gotta say you've really been pushing me in a positive direction recently. Since I started watching your channel, I've since opened up a high interest savings account, been looking into other side hussels, Scouted out some freelance opportunities, Started reading a LOT of books, heck... You're partly the reason I even started my own UA-cam Channel. Seeing a regular, down to earth guy giving small, achievable tips to achieve big goals is pretty inspiring

    Nate, you were NOT a weird kid. You were, and clearly still are, bright, curious, inquisitive, and clearly always willing to learn. We as a society need to stop thinking that smart kids are "weird".

    My investment strategy is:
    - Most of my money is invested in index and mutual funds.
    - A large percentage of my portfolio is dedicated to dividend stocks (mostly blue chip)
    - 6 months worth of expenses is kept in a high interest savings account that matches or beats inflation
    - 1 months worth of expenses is kept in a chequeing account
    I stay away from day trading and spec stocks after learning the hard way

Incrementally earned about $2,400 in 2019 flipping and selling (not my major income source) and then used the money to travel a bit and bought lots of skincare products lol. Love your channel. Wish I had found out about it earlier when I had more money to invest.

    Damn this is a great rundown on everything a beginner would need to know about investing. Your videos have inspired a lot of young people to get started with personal finance. I have been having trouble trying to really integrate the thing I learn, I recently have started trying to make UA-cam videos as a way to reinforce those concepts. Has making videos about investing and personal finance helped you become more confident in your knowledge?

    • @LinusLimMJ
      @LinusLimMJ 4 роки тому +1

      it's the same for me. everytime i make a video on a topic (investing in my case), it reinforces whatever i have learned. it's one thing for me to know these concepts but to explain it to another, it requires another level of clarity which i feel that doing videos have helped!

      Either way, great video!
      Question: Do you think that investing in the last option you gave (for those whodon't know what the last one is, because they haven't seen it yet, go watch it! hehe) while having a small amount of money and a few expenses coming up, is worth it? Or Should you maybe wait until you get a greater capital and less expenses, and only then invest?

    Hmmm...investments. What an appropriate topic. It’s never to late (or early) to build a solid foundation for your dreams. Patience is undoubtedly a virtue in that regard. And yes Nate...you were a very “weird” kid. Weird, odd & from the sounds of it-perfectly imperfect. 😁Hopefully you still enjoy following a different path than the rest. 😌🙌 This world needs more people who aren’t afraid to live beyond the expectations (& sometimes limitations) of others-not less. Personally, as respectful as I am of peoples beliefs & opinions, I could never sacrifice true happiness simply to pacify the people around me. If they love me, they’ll accept me. After all, we should always strive to be true to ourselves & what we truly desire in life...should we not?

    Can you create something like step-by-step guide or some advice to invest in ETFs or Index Funds using commission-free apps? And from outside of the US? I find all the videos and other advice US-centric and I don't know where to start...

    You need a significant amount of money to invest in real estate. $47 won't get you anywhere. Going to real estate meetings could give you good ideas for the future, but realistically you need a large amount of money. I've personally invested in a REIT, and it's not worth it at all unless you invest a significant amount.

    What about a video about how to increase your income? Like asking for a raise tips, working towards a promotion tips, how to look for an upgrade in the job market for a higher paying job, etc
