I subscribed to hello fresh the other day and have since been watching videos to see if I am going to be wasting my money.

Thanks for the thorough review. You mentioned that the recipe card was printed upside down. However, those cards are meant to be placed in a binder so as you turn the page over you won't have to flip the binder again. We do something similar where I work LOL. Anyway, will or have you tried Blue Apron? Would like to see that and maybe some already prepared "over ready" meals. Soooo many to choose from Aaarrgghh!! Enjoyed your videos!

I want to point out that until this pandemic is over, a meal service isn't much more (If at all) more expensive than Instacart and gives more control. I don't know if it's just my area but instacart keeps making substitutions even when I specifically ask them not to.

Hi, I wish you would have tried the non-low calorie Home Chef. Any chance on an update? We are trying out Home Chef (not low cal) and I'm wondering if Hello Fresh still outranks on taste. Another reason you might consider a rematch is that we have gotten a little baking tin with meals to cook in, there is almost no cooking in pans and cleanup is a cinch - this might be a newer feature for HC. Thanks, I like your review style and comments with your Steven.

Great review! I'm watching this after being a Home Chef customer for 2 years, then had so many issues with Fedex deliveries we switched to Hello Fresh in June of 2020. We share a lot of your sentiments between the two services. Overall, the Hello Fresh meals have way more ingredients to them and are larger portions. We were finding that the Home Chef meals were "too simple" a lot of the time and we didn't feel like we were getting the value for the money comparing the two (that didn't used to be the case, they were much better before Kroger bought them out.) Now having been with Hello Fresh for 7 months now, and they too, switched to using Fedex last month, we kinda miss some of the recipe options that Home Chef offered like Tofu, pizzas, and more meals with seafood overall. In conclusion, we may use both services and go back and forth depending on the week's menu. Best of both worlds?

Maddie - Great honest, down-to-earth reviews. You invite us into your home and share your real-ness. I love that. But I have to give a note on the calorie/ "healthier" talk... the determinant as to whether something is "healthy" or not is not calories alone. I can eat a pop tart that is only 360 calories - it that "healthier" than a 630 calorie meal from Hello Fresh? Home Chef may offer lower calorie meals, which does NOT mean healthier. Some calories are better than others.

I am confused, when I look at hello fresh prices (without the promo discount) they are more expensive by about $2 per meal. I have used Home Chef for 4 years and I never tried Hello fresh because of the more expensive cost by my calculations and the higher calories. I am thinking you used the promo discount when comparing them but it wasn't clear to me from watching your 2 videos reviewing these services. I enjoyed your review however, this was very thorough. Good Job.

    • @MaddiePants
      @MaddiePants  3 роки тому +1

Thank you! By my calculations Hello Fresh was slightly cheaper than Home Chef with the promo I got. After your promo runs out, full price for Hello Fresh is like $60 a box which is a little too expensive for me. So sad. But I agree about the calories. I believe overall our Home Chef meals we’re fewer calories than Hello Fresh.

    7:25 "I'm just a lazy cook and I hate cooking" 😅😅😅
    Omg, same.
Edit: 😅😅😅 you're like, all about telling how good of a cook your guy is. Seriously, cooking isn't hard, but I'm personally such a distracted cook. I don't burn our food, but my husband will joke that "the smoke alarm is not a cooking timer" cuz I do CONSTANTLY walk away from the kitchen when I'm cooking.
Like, "oh I don't hear the drier running, better turn it back on one more time / switch loads"
Or I'll be trying to wash dishes while something is cooking, 😅😅😅
But my husband can just stand there and watch the food cook.
Personally I have trouble just standing over a pot to watch it boil, 😂😂😂
Edit: 21:00 it came with a lime... (my first thought, "tequila shots" )...
5 seconds later..... "oh we can do tequila shots later" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Edit: 29:30 thanks for doing a great job with this honest and hilarious review of not just taste and ease of cooking but including pricing, it made sense.
I was debating on if it was going to be worth it to go with one of these and I agree that, along with my own research and your help, I'd go with Hello Fresh too just for the convenience factor of certain ingredients that I'd buy for a single meal and maybe never use again.
