Lies. Michael Oher was already a standout football player before the Tuohys ever came into his life. That's what drew them to him. The movie is full of lies. Listen to him tell his own story. He would've been D1 athlete and an NFL player with or without their assistance. Every favor isn't well intentioned.
So why not be truthful that this was not an adoption but a conservatorship. The man is 37 years old why do you still have a conservatorship. No you didn't benefit from The Blind Side movie, what is not being said is the monies that are being made from speaking Arrangements from from any organization that was made based on The Blind Side.
You have absolutely nothing to back that up. They didn’t “give him opportunities” His talent opened those doors. It’s very simple if he was in a conservative ship - THEY LIED. It doesn’t matter how nice they were. If they misled this man they need to pay.
That is true, I think they did help him in some way and they may have known that he would make something of himself and they as well as he would get something out of the deal with their help, well we will see what really happen.
That’s so misleading, they clearly convinced an 18 year old kid that a conservatorship was the same as an adoption. This is an excerpt from Michael’s book in 2011: “Sean and Leigh Anne would be named as my ‘Legal Conservators.’ They explained to me that it means pretty much the exact same thing as ‘adoptive parents’…”
@ericthepaul Michael wants to end the conservatorship. But this couple refused when he requested it the first time. There is a big difference between adoption and conservatorship!
@ericthepaul Your life is different from Michael's . There's money in played here , millions. For once in your life , stop thinking about u . Michael believed that he was part of a family, when the Tuohy family approached him with the legal documents to control Michael's millions of the movie and NFL contracts. The Tuohy family were listening to the devil , greed is a sin
@ericthepaul The difference between your story and Oher’s is your father was providing these needs out of kindness and the Tuohy’s we’re doing it to keep from facing legal actions from NCAA about Oher going to Ole Miss. In actuality, Oher could’ve gone to any of the three schools mentioned and been just fine. But, he was persuaded by the family to go to the school they were boosters at and to keep them from facing legal ramifications, they came up with this extreme option of conservatorship that benefitted them over Oher. The questions the reporters should’ve asked is why not an adoption over a conservatorship that stripped Oher of all his rights? Why did the Tuohy’s let their childhood friend, Michael Lewis, write Oher’s life story and why does Lewis split the residual checks with the Tuohy’s and NOT Oher directly? Furthermore, why did the Tuohy’s choose this more extreme option of conservatorship over adoption and NEVER ended it and this man is in his 30s? And most importantly if this couple knew in their hearts and legally they’d put this man in a conservatorship, WHY does their charitable organization hinge upon them saying they “adopted” him to sell their own books and book speaking engagements? These lawyers are presenting the Tuohy’s as magnanimous people when we all know a rich man no matter how well off can never have enough money to satiate themselves.
They did better by him than his own parents. Oher was born in Memphis, Tennessee; he was one of 12 children of Denise Oher. His mother suffered from alcoholism and crack cocaine addiction, and his father, Michael Jerome Williams, was frequently in prison.
Why did they just "adopt" him? The only one of the 12 who was already a heavily recruited all-American HS football player? Why did he end up at Ole Miss, the booster's Alma mater? Could this have been a way to circumvent the recruitment enticement barriers?
@@MrDuds1984 Who knows? Although they said they were willing to end it. It's not necessarily for some evil reason. We'll find out as this goes forward.
Did they? That's his claim, but it's just a claim at this point. There's another side to this, and notice that he said in the book that HE wrote in 2011 that it was a conservatorship. So he knew way back then. Did he conveniently forget about that?

If you're gonna help people, don't let your right hand know what you're left hand is doing - keep it secret that only God sees, and that He alone rewards. And please don't go make a Hollywood movie that exaggerates your own goodness without getting any input from the main person involved. If he could only go to Ole Miss as "part of the family", why then was a conservatorship chosen instead of an adoption? An adoption would have made him "part of the family" in a legal sense, a conservatorship not, ist just allows the conservator to lay their finger on the money of the conservatee. The conservatee does not legally become the child of the conservator. So if a family connection was necessary and they got him in on the basis of the conservatorship, they also deceived Ole Miss. They pretended to Ole MIss that MO had a civil status (adopted child) he had not and they pretended to have a civil status (parents) in relation to him that they had not. They certainly did get benefits from it, not only money but also a certain image within their community. (If someone was so hot on getting MO into Ole Miss, it was the Tuohys, as it was the alma mater of one of them and having their "adoptive son" sent there would also have enhanced their status as alumni.) I think Michael Oher is disappointed because in recent years it's begun to dawn on him that things were not entirely the way the Tuohys told him they were. They did treat him as part of the family, but would they have done it if he had not had a marketable talent. They did help him and opened some doors for him and they took him in as part of their family, but probably they were not as selfless as they seemed, and they made him feel at home because that would sweeten the deal of presenting him as their latest charity case. Oher is probably right in being disappointed because he was put under the illusion that he was also legally part of the family (and that also entails having a right to a fixed percentage of the inheritance) when in reality he was not, and they misrepresented the legal arrangements they made on his behalf as being equivalent to an adoption when they were not even in the remotest sense.

The Tuohys took advantage of him, and it’s a disgrace.

That’s so misleading, they clearly convinced an 18 year old kid that a conservatorship was the same as an adoption.
Which made him an easier target for the Tuohys to take advantage of

(If someone was so hot on getting MO into Ole Miss, it was the Tuohys, as it was the alma mater of one of them and having their "adoptive son" sent there would also have enhanced their status as alumni.)
I think Michael Oher is disappointed because in recent years it's begun to dawn on him that things were not entirely the way the Tuohys told him they were.

You all commenting negatively towards the only family on the planet who stepped up to help him are seriously misguided and I would say it would be a huge possibility that you might even be racist... OH what? they weren't perfect parents like his REAL parents? seriously....smh
This guy had a couple other people helping him. That's who got him in that school. He was an All American and had offers from other big time universities before the Tuohys. That's when those devils saw $$$. They tricked him into signing that conservatorship and lied saying it was an adoption for their own gain. And people should stop saying they didn't need to steal from him because their rich. Rich people steal all the time. Look at the music business. According to Emily Baker, the family lawyer and the judge seemed to be in on the scam. Southern white people , smh! This type of thing happens all the time. White families seeking out Black talent who's in a bad situation to take advantage of. So who's racist here?
I guess the father of his friend, who went the school principal to ask them to accept Michael to go to school there don't count huh? This is nothing new. White people been doing this for the longest.
Who’s to say that someone ELSE wouldn’t have stepped up. These people were “white saviors “ and felt like a conservatorship was their compensation. They aren’t trying to deny it. They’re trying to JUSTIFY IT . They took advantage of Michael’s naïveté. It’s a slap in the face to say they didn’t need the money but yet had no problem with that money being split five ways. If it were me - I would have put all of that money into a trust . The KIDS don’t deserve a cent.
They weren’t the ONLY family. So stop there. Their were others in the community they just didn’t make an effort to be in the spotlight.
@@ashian23x46 no coincidence Michael went to the Tuohys alma mater. Wouldn’t surprise me if he got a kickback.
I bet this guy Michael ran out of money and this is way he can get money out of them, instead he should have just ask them.
Should be required training prior to adoption.
Caught with their hands in the cookie jar😅
What do you do when you don't have the money that you thought you did?
The money that your fiance-now-wife thought you had. He was married 3 months before he 'found out the truth'
Sad that the movie portrayed Michael as a very forgiving guy when we now know that isn't one bit TRUE. I think the Tuohy's should deduct all their expenses from rent, to clothing, to medical/dental, food and any expense they paid for him to go to college outside the scholarship and for all the Tutoring he needed to catch up. I certainly hope this doesn't taint those that have the money to help those in need decide it isn't worth helping anyone cause it could come back to bite you in the ass..
@@RG-vc9nn They put a roof over his head, a place to lay his head and paid for everything until he could earn his own money..He claims he didn't know anything about the conservatorship when he talks about it mulitple times in his book he wrote in 2011..Can't wait to see this play out in court so they can put this ungrateful person in his place.
What the hell ever! Those people(white people)are vultures, trying to attach themselves to Black talent. They been doing it forever, whether its music ,sports or whatever. The world know you people. So take your opinion and stick it!!
@@RG-vc9nnentitled much
Yea sounds about white...get your facts straight Karen before spewing your insipid rhetoric...
The Tuohy family is worth over $200 million dollars, stop being biaased this is what money does to families. I don't trust either. Tiohys worth 200 million and Michael made $32 million in the NFL I don't feel sorry for either.
No reference in the movie they adopt him???? ???
It's holes all on this story. They're answering questions that wasn't asked. Michael never claimed they touched or interfered with his NFL money. He never denied he was in a conservatorship, he say he thought it was another way of adopting him. They say he and his mother were present a the petition hearing and that's why the GAL was waived. You honestly think a 18 year old kid and his mom, both from the hood, she's on drugs, knew what a conservatorship was? I'm sure they told her the same lie they told him. America, stop acting surprised, we've watched white people attach themselves to Black talent before most of us today were born. Look at what they do in the music business. Some talented Black singer have success in Black clubs and as soon as he/she looks like they can make it big, that's when white people shows up claiming they can make them a star, when the talent is already on their way to becoming a star. This is nothing new.

Bullcrap !!! Nothing like a lawyer to twist in my opinion!!!

There will some people saying how dumb can I be to believe this nonsense. The slap on the forehead is coming soon.
It doesn't matter what kind of ball player he was. He has 0 integrity and lack of respect. Maybe you should go home to his biological mother. He should be ashamed of his self...
Turtles should not carry scorpions across the river.
That attorney responded with PR instead of any factual information. Making sure Michael Oher was clothed and had a car is nothing to do with it. We want to know what they are accused of withholding as a result of the conservatorship. It seems very bad that the conservatorship was still in place after he completed college. Why would it still be in place, why did they not end it?
If Steve Faroese is involved the Tuohys don’t have anything to worry about. 😀

You got a lot of nerve mister michael you should be ashamed of yourself
DEVILS!!!
I know. Helping that poor ghetto kid get into a good high school and then college. Giving him a good life. Terrible. Terrible. He was better off in the ghetto
Am I detecting a slightly racist tone in your comment? 🧐

Im 2021 the Clearance Rate by MPD was 20%. Thats half the natuonal average. "Clearance Rate" is the rate of arrest compared to reported crime. Its a horrible stastic
In other words, he’s 37 years old, his NFL career is over, and now he’s looking for money from someone.
If his story is true, it ain’t right either!
So what if he is 37. He is still in conservatorship.
He should not have been in conservatorship in the first place. It is for people with impairments.
Stop smearing Mike . I believe Mike
Yea they took his money
Proof?
He is out money 😮
It was a movie fool. Movies are entertainment.
Anyone know how much he made in his career?
34 million
It’s not about how much he made it’s about how much they took from him
@@jacqueline7781you didn’t hear the part about paying his way through college, like a son, housing and loving him… with NO guarantee of any NFL career, or book? Oh, and after making sure he was in a position to succeed and had a supported path to a possible NFL career, he still had complete control of his own finances? Oh, and yea they had to do a Conservatorship in order to gee him through college. Oh, and yea they got some money from the movie, probably because they made the movie happen, which is ok.

I don’t think these people needed his money
