Poor Danielle. She went through so much this cycle. Sprained her toe at the platform shoe runway challenge; got her tooth gap closed reluctantly; got sick in Thailand. They had to let her win the cycle after all that lol.
damn girl, i had appendicitis on 3/3 and powered through until 3/9 when they gave me a noro diagnosis (after saying half my symptoms are suspicious) and did no testing. had to have emergency surgery 3/15 because i couldn't move from the fetal position on the ground. the BIGGEST thing i learned, if you don't feel good for more than 3 days, go to the doctor. if they tell you what you have and you don't feel better in another 3 days GO BACK. do not power through it or assume it's something that will go away in a week or two.
Poor Danielle. She probably was told that she could be eliminated if she wasn’t at the photo shoot. If I remember correctly, a similar situation happened in Cycle 1 when Adrianne got sick and had to visit the hospital/ urgent care. Tyra actually stated that Adrianne would have been eliminated if she wasn’t at panel that week! Not even a challenge or a photo shoot… panel!
If I remember correctly, when another model got sick and missed a photo shoot, Tyra had told the model "this is an industry that doesn't care if you are sick." I think that makes it clear to anyone who had watched it the models just had to suck it up. They expect you to perform anyway.
It Was monique from Cycle 7 ,Tyra said that to her and bring the Danielle's incident in her face. and guess what she was eliminated because she didn't participate in the shoot.
@@white_genocide2050 Whether or not Monique was "a nice girl" has little to nothing to do with whether Tyra's words and behavior were harsh and manipulative
Yeah she started feeling a little bit better only bc she was being treated. She had oxygen and medication and fluids. She definitely should have stayed in the hospital at least until they had it under control completely and hopefully could tell her what was wrong. It’s possible she was having extreme anxiety but, that doesn’t make it safer or mean she exaggerated. She was in an acute state.
10:56 You know what Tyra says: if you're a top model, you never know what you'll be asked to do as a model. You may be asked to get put in a catapult and be launched into the Roman Colosseum, and you NEED to be READY.
0:54 this is like my greatest fear realized: being alone in a foreign country where I don’t know their medical system & being hospitalized. I really think they should her flown her back to the US because I imagine Danielle’s insurance didn’t cover this. Does health insurance acquired in America get authorized in other countries?
Gonna be real American health insurance doesn't cover much in America much less Thailand, honestly it was probably better cost wise to stay in Thailand, also you'd hope that the show would have some kind of coverage for things but who knows
I used to love this particular cycle, Danielle was one of My fav winners and jade is so iconic! But rewatching this I went like damn I was young I never noticed how sick they treated the girls
This reminds me of when they brought Danielle back on a future series as part of a discussion with the next contestants about healthy eating etc and the message they had her deliver was basically "Well, they told me to lose weight so I lost the weight". Not that she told them she was fine the way she was, or she eventually lost some weight in a really healthy way, no, she did exactly what she was told. Such a horrible message on top of the experiences she had on the show. Awful.
This was like in Cycle 1 when Adrienne got really sick and went to the hospital. She literally ripped the IV out of her arm to make it back before panel. She put herself at risk and then they screwed her over so bad.
It sucks seeing a model think that her health shouldn’t be her first priority. They did the same back in Cycle 1 with Adrianne where she got food poisoning and was rushed to the hospital. Then it pans to Tyra and the panel saying that Adrianne would automatically be disqualified for not being present at panel on that very moment
This show was a product of its time; life-work balance was a dream. It’s awful that Danielle had to go through a photoshoot sick but that was the reality she was unforgettable facing. I’m glad that this is no longer the norm.
The way we've handled the pandemic shows this is very much still the norm unfortunately. People are still getting covid left and right but are still expected to go to work
@@MalloryNewcomboh they are totally right, unfortunately, my previous boss told me once “if you are sick, but you can still move and do you basics, you can still make it to work”. Keep in mind they made us came back from the work from home, and COVID was like a big thing
@@MalloryNewcomb I only know one person whose work doesn't tell him to come in "no matter what," and that's because he works in a labor&delivery operating room. The US has treated work/health balance like a damn joke, even in food and healthcare industries.
You should react to cycle 9 episodes 4 and 6 where at panel, one of the models gets accused of “talking back” and Tyra calls one of the models a quitter when she quits the competition
Probably nobody tells them anything. This reminds me of a company I worked for, there was a new girl in our team I used to talk every day because as she was new she needed help. After a few months she disappear and as the bosses did not tell anyone what happened to her I had to search for her contact to see if she was ok. She just moved to another team! She told me she was disappointed they made her disappear like that and she did not have the chance to say goodbye or explain
So painful to watch😢 they are taken somewhere they don’t even know some languages they can’t even speak it’s inhumane and cruel behavior on Tyra and the whole production team
They did the same thing in cycle 4 where Rebecca fainted to the floor during judging and the producers & production had to continue on the judging. And former contestants from cycle 4 which were Namia, Lluvy, Brittany, Keenyah, Tiffany, Michelle and Rebecca herself all said the same thing on Oliver Twixt interview said that judging was the longest through out the cycle almost 12 hours on set because they had to wait for Rebecca to come from the emergency room.
In another season, the judges, including Banks, told a model, "This industry doesn't care if you're tired or if you're sick." In a work environment, that could be a liability for the company.
That was a stretcher - stretchers have wheels regular hospital beds usually have wheels, too but they’re a lot bigger and hospital beds don’t have the ability to collapse the legs beneath them to go into an ambulance without having a ramp or anything. They have to use ramps for hospital beds. The stretchers are easier to steer and transport than the entire bed. Usually you see stretchers, if it’s a bed on wheels it’s fine to call it a stretcher.
Seemed fake to me, the crying, the logistical nightmare of filming her curled up on a hospital bed, in hospital, getting up to leave etc…… there’s both real about reality tv!! And how does this girl get around copyright? The editing, the script, the background, all professionally done……. Everything we see is produced by someone much higher. If this girl had this much talent she certainly wouldn’t be on yt!! It’s a con, there’s absolutely nothing real about any reality tv, including this!! This was produced
The health thing, I think its just a very American thing. To sacrifice your health for work. There is this thing in this culture about "working hard" "pulling yourself by the bootstraps" "hard work pays off" Its almost glorified, like "oh this person worked even though they were sick, that means they must really want it" 🙄
I went on a school trip to thailand and we did a dance like this lol. our performance was a little lower budget but the activities they do overseas always make me think of that trip haha
Correct. Adrienne unknowingly set a precedent of doing whatever it takes to win even if it meant leaving the hospital before she would have been discharged. That’s actually a part of the reason she won - not that specific incident but they said she had so much drive.
Please reach to the episode where Tyra yelled Fatima for going to the consulate to get her travel documents, but she ended up sending Stacy-Ann home. It’s cycle 10, episode 9
Poor girl i feel so bad for her 😢. I watched top model when i was 13 - 16 and i was a fan of Tara. But i rewatched everything 2 years ago and the judges and Tyra were terrible. They treated the girls horrible. And since a few weeks ago i watch revieuws and allot of people just watch and say what happens and react to how the models look. But you are funny , you react to everything and you have the same opinions i have now since i went through so much in my life, you are not afraid to tell the truth , you are talented i watched your photos so now i only watch you and 1 other youtuber because she does every episode of every cycle. First i tought when i saw your page it's another pretty woman that will react to looks but you are amazing. I subscribed . Stay yourself ❤
My money is on they threatened to kick her off the show if she didn't leave the hospital and power through it. Because when Tyra was an aspiring model she dealt with x,y,z illnesses/problems and she still showed up and gave it her all... Blah blah blah 🙄 I can't recall if they roasted poor Danielle for missing the challenge. But they really don't care if you're sick because if they gave a model time off that would give them an unfair advantage against the other girls 😤.
I think there’s a reason there’s not top model going on right now. I mean the series hasn’t formally concluded but the most recent cycle was like 5 years ago.
Furonda is me doing yoga or afrobeats dance(I do these two things for exercis)🤣🤣🤣🤣at the same time was the audience not entertained???🤷🏽♀️ She did better then I would have
For their first time, I think they did pretty good. They looked good. Furonda though....Hey, I laughed! 😂 That's good enough for me. I wish I saw Danielle do this.
Okay what I don’t understand is that I am sure that the models sign a contract saying they will not sue if they are injured while filming this show, but you can’t control being sick. At this point, they need to just eliminate a girl if she gets sick because they clearly want to if a model being on an IV and oxygen is not enough to allow them to be excused from judging. I don’t understand why producers who are with Danielle filming her in the hospital (which also is that seriously okay with medical privacy laws and all that?) can’t just call Tyra and have the physician speak with Ms Banks to tell her that this model is not going to be present for panel.
Oh, this was a crappy challenge win for Joanie. A dinner with the Elle lady?! Yawn. Danielle was a real trooper, and Tyra was such a B to her, the entire season. The Indian head thing, is kinda hard to fit in a suitcase.
You with the money omg can’t always be cash 😂😂 anyway I totally agree with how the judges can be and but it was still up to her. She rocked the photoshoot and was a trooper u should do the rest of the episode.
I remember this episode-poor Danielle. They could’ve easily let her skip a week and come back and sent no one home. Even the Great British Baking Show does that if a contestant is sick these days. Being sick is not their fault and the judges should’ve taken that into consideration-I know back then it was very different and many of us were pushed into working while sick or we’d loose our jobs (still happens today unfortunately).
I absolutely loved Furonda’s dance!!! She meant no disrespect, she showed great respect by honoring dance in her best way, which was certainly entertaining and endearing in how humble she is!!!❤❤❤❤😂😂😂❤❤❤❤ 🔥 🔥 🔥
I would love to see one of these doctors talk to production and tell them “I took a Hippocratic oath that says Do no harm and it would be harmful to my patient to let her discharge herself at this time.” Tyra has that dentist who will do whatever her vision is for a model’s teeth but surely she doesn’t have that power in a foreign country.
I think production told them to act" normal" or not notified. Man I remember poor Danielle first a broken toe and now I think food poisoning :/ ..that's how you know what the time was people were worried about getting chewed and thinking about the actual people. I think Joni was asked about how panels would react. Feronda's dance edit 😅
I’m not Thai, but I’ve been to Thailand twice and been to dance shows and also took some Thai dance classes. The smile is a huge cultural thing there. Smiling in Thailand is important. It’s not called The Land of Smiles for nothing. Also, Thai dance includes very intricate hand movements and a lot of discipline. It’s a wonderful art form.
I've been to Thailand as well, and was also thinking about the smiling thing. I don't smile naturally, and had to consciously make myself smile while I was there. 😊
Danielle had been through a time during this season. I'm glad she won and continues to thrive in life. I can't IMAGINE leaving hospital AMA, but I'm not in a competition like this.
I don't know how it works outside of the USA, but if you leave the hospital AMA (Against Medical Advice) insurance will not cover it and you are fully responsible for the bill. That could be very expensive.
This isn’t just the modeling industry. It’s everywhere!! In retail when I was younger they told me to come in while sick or I’d lose my job. I told them I had the stomach virus and was running to the toilet all day. They didn’t care. So when I came in, I proceeded to exaggerate my illness and run to the toilet even more to prove they were ridiculous. Most of that shift I read on the toilet lol.
I recalled this episode. Especially if you fast forward to season 7, 1 girl got sick, she didnt stay back for the runway photoshoot, she got eliminated. I hope the girls band up to file a major lawsuit. This is wild
My heart goes out to Danielle because I got food poisoning and dehydration when I was in Thailand. Plus severe allergic reaction because I am allergic to coconut and I didn't know they cook with coconut a lot there. I ended up having to eat western food while there, and I was so embarrassed and felt like a high maintenance, rude American. Even then, I was so sick the entire trip.
The dancers should have quick feet yet slow but deliberate hand movements with a big smile that is also soft and elegant. At least that’s what I have experienced from these types of dances.
I get Danielle‘s concerns. I mean, this is a competition. It’s not fair to the other girls if Danielle misses multiple challenges and then gets to come back. But the fact that she’s so concerned about getting back to the competition instead of focusing on her health is concerning. Tyra should step in and tell her that she needs to go back to the hospital and that it’s OK for her to focus on herself. Unfortunately, she would be pulled from competition, but that’s not what’s important right now. She needs to work on getting better.
I was like 18 when this aired, and one thing I have to think about is that they are still children beginning to turn into adults… they won’t have the correct reaction due to lack of life experience. The actual ADULTS are modeling how they should respond and that is the sick part of all of this. Yes Jade is a B but she’s also what 19? She’s in a selfish place in life. This is just so crazy to watch all these years later!! I absolutely loved this show when it came out!
They had a mini lesson about the dance where they were taught what different hand movements mean. I remember something like raising your hand above your head (or brow?) showed arrogance, so it cracked me up to see Furonda do it several times😂
Jessica keep talking about cash reward 😂 I mean I agree with you Jess and I'm just thinking if they ever gave anyone a cash reward for challenges? I know they got some ring or something that was worth something but did they ever get cash? I would give zero effort really... 99% of the times these rewards are pretty lame. Even if you get jewelry like they did in the past you can't really sell it for original price.
Unfortunately, I think this is just par for the course in the entertainment industry. I have heard so many actors in interviews talking about shooting scenes with a high fever, a migraine where they had to puke between takes, or an injury that later required stitches or a cast. This is an industry that cares zero for people, hence the recent strike.
It’s a meaningful and traditional dance, meant to be performed by professionals. And this show had the stomach to put these poor young girls in this embarrassing situation which is insulting and demeaning not only for them but for an entire culture. The AUDACITY!
Whenever someone in a reality show is crying in pain and rushed to hospital, it's almost always food poisoning, UTI, or Appendicitis... I thought they were being dramatic in these shows until I got a severe UTI. I thought my body was gonna break and couldn't walk or stand up straight.

damn girl, i had appendicitis on 3/3 and powered through until 3/9 when they gave me a noro diagnosis (after saying half my symptoms are suspicious) and did no testing. had to have emergency surgery 3/15 because i couldn't move from the fetal position on the ground. the BIGGEST thing i learned, if you don't feel good for more than 3 days, go to the doctor. if they tell you what you have and you don't feel better in another 3 days GO BACK. do not power through it or assume it's something that will go away in a week or two.
That is so effing shady!
@@KevinOt2that’s so harsh and manipulative of Tyra, her fellow judges, her own producers and her own crew…
Monique from cycle 7 was not a nice girl so @@afrosamuraiwarrior
Never liked jade,
@coolcat6103 . Lmao same. I could care less about jade. If something happened to her I would just jump on one foot
Incredible how there was always someone here to film instead of taking care of her 😠
“It’s like Halloween” girl no it isn’t lmao literally their culture isn’t a costume.
People are still getting covid left and right but are still expected to go to work
@@tp2005 for real? My work wouldn’t allow it if you tested positive
Keep in mind he's still expected to come in if it's anything but COVID or RSV, they just have him work the labor ward front desk.
The US has treated work/health balance like a damn joke, even in food and healthcare industries.
This show lacked compassion care and basic human decency😢 So Sad I was preaching Tyra for years she s devious
Yesss! I’m so happy I can start my morning routine off with your ANTM reaction video
Why would they humiliate these girls like that with such a senseless challenge ??
In one interview the model say she had to pay for her own medical bills
Which model?
@@afrosamuraiwarriorRebecca cycle 4
@@BorgdroneQueen what condition did she have?
@afrosamuraiwarrior she fainted and smacked her head on the floor. She said in a chat that they made her pay all her medical bills which took years.
@@BorgdroneQueen oh my god! That’s so bang of order!
What's sad is that she felt she needed to leave because she felt it would have ruined her chances at the competition.
You should do an ANTM collab with Luxeria!
Yesss I’d be so happy to see them do a collab!!
In another season, the judges, including Banks, told a model, "This industry doesn't care if you're tired or if you're sick."
In a work environment, that could be a liability for the company.
Omg Furonda's dance is making me laugh so hard 😂
Stretchers of this sort (can fold the legs or ambulance transport etc.) are also called gurneys-I think.
@@coolcat6103I take it you’ve never heard of Fair Use of copyrighted materials?
@@HulaHula667 yes of course, whatever go back to sleep idk
The health thing, I think its just a very American thing. To sacrifice your health for work. There is this thing in this culture about "working hard" "pulling yourself by the bootstraps" "hard work pays off" Its almost glorified, like "oh this person worked even though they were sick, that means they must really want it" 🙄
I went on a school trip to thailand and we did a dance like this lol. our performance was a little lower budget but the activities they do overseas always make me think of that trip haha
The same happened to Adrienne on the first cycle. Never understood why they pushed these ladies just for ratings...😔
Tyra's leg fell off and she powered through.
@@lizanna6390 or how about Tyra went blind for two days and still managed to book three runway shows, four go sees and smized the whole time? 😂
@@catherine-eggallergyinmd yea or when she was dying of tuberculosis and did a full ad campaign and stared in a movie.
Tyra had no sympathy whatsoever. She was so callous. 😒
The same thing happened to Adrienne when she got food poisoning!!😢
I think there’s a reason there’s not top model going on right now. I mean the series hasn’t formally concluded but the most recent cycle was like 5 years ago.
It was a disturbing episode to watch initially, but I love the elephant photo shoot. And I also love that jacket you're wearing.
This was in the mid 2000's though, American reality shows did not care about that kind of stuff it sucked for the contestants
Furonda is my spirit animal here
You should watch The Face with Naomi ! That’s the REAL modeling competition
I would love to see one of these doctors talk to production and tell them “I took a Hippocratic oath that says Do no harm and it would be harmful to my patient to let her discharge herself at this time.”
Tyra has that dentist who will do whatever her vision is for a model’s teeth but surely she doesn’t have that power in a foreign country.
Poor Danielle. In another season there was a girl who was sick and Tyra was like, “well Danielle was deathly ill and she did the photo shoot”
Jess, watch the British invasion finale. Laura starts shaking violently and is taken to the hospital
Danielle had been through a time during this season. I'm glad she won and continues to thrive in life. I can't IMAGINE leaving hospital AMA, but I'm not in a competition like this.
Furonda had me laughing so bad the first time I seen this episode.
I don't know how it works outside of the USA, but if you leave the hospital AMA (Against Medical Advice) insurance will not cover it and you are fully responsible for the bill. That could be very expensive.
When did ANTM care about sick models, or any other problems? ://
When Jael had a friend die during filming.
Jessica you get more and more beautiful every video. I love that you’re a girls girl too❤
This isn’t just the modeling industry.
I feel like she left because she was scared of getting eliminated even that round
Even your mic was worried for Danielle 😭
I recalled this episode. Especially if you fast forward to season 7, 1 girl got sick, she didnt stay back for the runway photoshoot, she got eliminated.
I hope the girls band up to file a major lawsuit. This is wild
I'd love it if you did a reaction video on recent cycles of ANTM to see if the things changed up there a bit
I'm Cambodian, and my culture and Thai culture are very similar. The dances they do tell a certain story depending on what it is.
Jess you forgot the link to the photoshoot episode lol
For a "modeling" show, they "move with their body" for a Pho-To. As Tyra says. Lol Every dance position has a pose.
Watching Danielle's experience right at the start whatever she was sick with, 100% she's dehydrated.
Eta: 2:59 ironic! You're on it
20:15 ok yea
Jessicas first thought is always 'is it money?' and I swear its never money. One day Jessica, one day!
16:15 Better to fast forward at times now. Contents running out. It doesn’t have to be twenty minutes long now.
Poor Danielle though.
They had a mini lesson about the dance where they were taught what different hand movements mean. I remember something like raising your hand above your head (or brow?) showed arrogance, so it cracked me up to see Furonda do it several times😂
A truly nightmare situation is to be a lone female in a foreign hospital with no one who can communicate with you
Jessica keep talking about cash reward 😂
I mean I agree with you Jess and I'm just thinking if they ever gave anyone a cash reward for challenges?
I know they got some ring or something that was worth something but did they ever get cash?
I would give zero effort really... 99% of the times these rewards are pretty lame.
Even if you get jewelry like they did in the past you can't really sell it for original price.
Jessica is really beautiful 😍
"Put the Spotify playlist that you made for New Year's" 😂😂😂
They’re modeling the clothes, learning proper posture, and tradition in the dance.
Does anyone know the title of the video for the elephant photoshoot please? 😊
Anybody else notice that Danielle wasn't wearing jeans when she was carried from the house but she had some to leave the hospital?
Your one of my favorite photographers thank u Jessica
I will never risk my health for a tv show
judge don't care Tyra would say: You have to push through it we'll have to send you home
It’s a meaningful and traditional dance, meant to be performed by professionals. And this show had the stomach to put these poor young girls in this embarrassing situation which is insulting and demeaning not only for them but for an entire culture. The AUDACITY!
I would be surprised if they cared about any model
Whenever someone in a reality show is crying in pain and rushed to hospital, it's almost always food poisoning, UTI, or Appendicitis...
I thought they were being dramatic in these shows until I got a severe UTI.
I thought my body was gonna break and couldn't walk or stand up straight.
