This is so clean and studless it looks more like a MOC than an official Lego set. Good job Lego
If I heard it correctly, it was kind of a MOC, a former TF Hasbro designer who loved Legos built this and then when he changed jobs to be a Lego Designer he presented this idea, which then became the Lego set

Honestly I prefer a bit more studs, looks too much like a toy figure to me than Lego. But I guess that's stellar job on designers. Just want biiiiit more studs.

The head on this is incredibly accurate for being made of LEGO!
I just don't like how small space is between the eyes.
@@Nick_MG yea I feel if they changed the head design to somehow have the print on a 1x3 it would make the eyes look better, however it wouldn’t match how the head would look
@@Lookman646 Maybe if they spread the eyes out a bit more on that print, it may have looked better. There’s definitely still a small bit of room there.
The only way the eyes probably could have looked their best is if LEGO made a new face brick mold that was in the shape of Optimus’s face and mask. But so long as LEGO doesn’t see a need to make a new mold, they’ll find a shortcut with the pieces they have.

Yeah, just imagine that in a smaller scale with more moveability... like playsets but for adults each sold for 70 or 80-90 cash.

I really like how the gun becomes the trailer hitch, I'm surprised no official figures have thought of doing that because it actually works out fantastically. Also to be completely honest I think I'm gonna buy a bunch of extra parts to make the blue parts the regular LEGO blue instead of dark blue, would just look a lot better to me personally.
it would bump it up to being closer to the G1 Sunbow Cartoon than the dark blue which is derived from the G1 toy (plus change the silver drum laquered 1x2 cheese slopes to blue to make it more accurate, as both the toy and cartoon didn't have it).
only thing that is a problem is the printed forehead piece, which I think a custom sticker can substitute for the detail.

@@michyoungie I want to say this one is based somewhat on MP-10 hence the vents on the legs and the dark blue, and even the transformation is similar to it and the original G1 figure
Multiple versions of the Hasbro G1 optimus had that feature, it’s hardly new to the LEGO model,
@@josephsalvucci7316 Which? I've seen them store on the trailer hitch but never actually *become* it. And while I can't name every release, or name every G1 Optimus Prime mold ever made, I can tell the difference between almost all of them.
I love how the fact that this exists, is the selling point. It being halfway decent is just a bonus

The price point is already a big fail in the description of this video it says its $159.99 which is incorrect it's actually $259.99 with that price they should've considering its only 1500 pieces

You think $259.99 is a good price for a semi truck even though the actual full character is a truck and semi trailer ? That would be like forgetting the caboose with a train or forgetting the engine car

@@macdaddy2344 the set is only $170, but a trailer would bump that up significantly. Especially if they made it do all the battle platform stuff and added roller. I'm not saying a trailer wouldn't have been nice, but Optimus himself is the main important thing.
Now that we know Lego and Hasbro are willing to collaborate, I really hope this means we get a Lego Power Rangers set one day. Even if it's just the original MMPR Megazord

As a transformers and lego fan I see this as the one of the most perfect lego sets
Crazy thing is I remember getting the Kreo Megatron when they were making them 10 years ago, always been more of a Lego fan and just got the set anyways. But deep down I kinda wished Lego would transformers sets since I was a kid. I obviously didn’t think that would happen because Kreo had the license for what seemed like forever. Let’s just say I was at disbelief when I heard about this. But what I can say now is that I was a kid then having to wait to get these sets with my dad now I’m much older with money I’ve worked to earn, might just buy this to fulfill that sort of childhood wish.
I’m gonna be completely honest, I always assumed that if they ever officially did this it would be a parts-formy mess, but this is incredible! Do you know how tall it is?
it's very tall of a TF figure, it's much bigger than MP01 and that guy was already 31cm tall, I'd say about 35 to 40cm or 15 inches

I can't believe this is real. Some of the first channels I followed on YT were Lego channels that built their own Transformers & made them transform with little to no parts forming. I was so disappointed when Kre-O weren't able to make their transformers transform. This is amazing.
If this line continues i imagine they'll do Bumblebee or Soundwave next. I'm wondering how they'll do Megatron since he can't be a gun anymore. Tank? Jet? Truck? Probably a tank if the WFC trilogy & the Devastation game are anything to go by.
Can't make Megs a tank if TLG wants to stand by their set content guidelines.

I was thinking they can "take" G1 Galvatron's cannon emplacement alt mode and reuse that for Megs, or the animated helicopter as that is rather simple plus animated Megs is already close to G1
Soundwave should go next, he is already a brick in both modes it's not going to be hard

I took the 5:43 frame to PS and took the "Mouth protection" piece up by half stud, I don't know if it's possible over the real model, maybe just if it has hollow studs under it; but doing such a tweek compressed the the head in heigh, giving it a more sleek appearance. I also try in PS with flipping that same piece so the angle went upward, it also looks good and helps the flat eyes piece to merge with the rest of the face, but again it depends on whats below that piece. I love the model and would accept no knee articulation, but the head is not quite there for me.
I hope we'll get a Megatron to face him, or maybe even a Devastator style combiner !
And honestly, we got Voltron, we got Optimus, I really do hope that we'll get a Dino-Megazord one day, it'd be dope.
No way they do Megatron. If they do they won't have him transform into a gun Because Lego is lame and won't do guns in that regard.
But if by some chance they do and he does transform into his gun mode I'd definitely buy 2 without a doubt one to build and one to keep sealed because that set would be worth so much money.
If they did Daizyujin, especially Ultimate Daizyujin, I would be so happy!
Would love to see like Bay-verse Megatron or StarScream of this from you using techniques from this set, also could you do a titanfall 2 MOC of a titan?

It looks really nice! They did a great job with smooth tiles and the transforming, but I’ll pass at that price range. If they release Megatron or Soundwave, then that’s another story. 😅

That's probably the most popular choice, but I'm not gonna lie, I would have preferred the Bayverse one from the Sam trilogy, or the one from Bumblebee/RotB.
@@hachiroku24 Pretty much all of the new Expert sets have seen sequels - the blocky G1 designs definitely lend themselves most to a LEGO adaptation, but if they do go for another in this series later on, it would indeed be seriously interesting to see the live-action detailing style in LEGO form.

Finally you can build an official lego Optimus Prime!! I builded too many Years ago (in 2017) but he couldn't Transform.
Would you consider making a smaller version "minifigure..isss" side?
Also do you think it would be possible to MOD this version so he could have bendable knees?
I'd say it's pretty easy to add some knees in there, it's already balljoints so it's just a matter of reorganizing the lower leg assembly, but that may affect the Truck stability so maybe that's why they didn't do it
Question: is there a way to give this guy bendable legs (back and forth) with the pieces available in the set (maybe like removing pieces that block the knee)?

When I first read it wouldn't have had articulates knees I instantly thought of him. But personally I don't see it as a major downpoint because the set itself is awesome
Down point is no trailer and only 1500 pieces for $259.99 ya it transforms and all but that's pretty steep greedy prices
Truck looks clean on display but I can't help but think it looks odd missing the trailer all other models I have of him even the first original it has trailer just sticks out to me
