dylan is actually built different I'm guessing that the letters are corners going clockwise around the cube and the numbers are edges going clockwise though? so B-1-2 is a corner and two adjacent edges (which is a gem)

For the frist solve, you could have done U2 R' U R U' R' U D' R2 to create a very easy X-Cross
in the 3x3 scramble, I would probably cancel into a x-cross.
