My favorite brand of pudding. This brand only has real ingredients and it DOES expire, but that's not an issue as it gets eaten way before then! I was eating some as I came across this video looking to see if I can make tapioca pudding.
    Main Ingredients:
    Reduced Fat milk
    Sugar
    Tapioca
    Egg whites
    Modified tapioca starch
    Less than 2% of
    Natural flavors
    Salt
    Annatto extract (color)
    I love this stuff!

I believe it's because, as they say, the pudding is package right away when it's still steaming hot so it stay fresh longer. And of course, these pudding are meant to be eaten cool/cold so they were chilled in the packaging process. So that's why, they eat it after it was packaged.

It was due to our colonies and trade. Apparently it and stuff like arrowroot starch were common and British people were encouraged to consume it for the Empire to support the colonies. People who were celiacs were put on such diets but ended up dying from malnutrition instead.
You can still get tapioca pearls in British supermarkets but I've never seen the pudding other than in Chinese supermarkets. Rice pudding is still common though and is probably inspired by Chinese sweet soups. I've never seen any British person have tapioca goods, but it is mentioned in old novels.

The ingedients are tapioca, milk, eggs, and sugar. Milk contains vitamins A, Bs, D, E, K2, calcium, zinc, magnesium, potassium, sodium, fats, proteins, and sugars. Eggs contain protein, fats, vitamins A, Bs, D, E, K2. So pudding is not entirely devoid of nutrition. It is a traditional food. And in traditional societies most people worked hard manual labor and couldn't afford to sit around all day. So you had to eat food that was high in nutrition to give you energy and rebuild and repair you body.
