Pine, Spruce, Doug Fir - among my favourites, that grain just explodes. Of course it can be beautiful - it's all about perspective, right? Nice work sir, thanks for sharing.
I watch wood turning videos from an historical love of things wooden, especially the beautiful grain and that piece shows a simple cut of wood at its finest.
Wow, this is such a creative project! I never thought pine could look this stunning. The way you bring out its natural beauty with your turning technique is truly impressive. Great work!
It is kind of funny how slow you have to go with the sanding to keep it from burnishing. I love to turn fatwood pine, and that stuff will start to melt. You made a good one. Like it a lot.
Forgive me for repeating a question. Did you stabilize it to prevent cracks as the word dries? If so how? Inquiring minds would love to know! Thanks. As always, beautiful work.
The stabilisation comes from correct turning methods. Thin and consistent wall thickness allows the wood to move as it dries without cracking or splitting. It’s important to select for wood that is without pre existing checks or shakes and to turn the wood in its freshest possible condition.
I’ve been turning wood on a monster lathe Spence I was 10 used to have to stand on a box to be high enough on the machine,I like birch instead of pine,I do a lot of glueing up and turning different kinds of woods alway add dark wood in my glueing ,Never Never wear any clothing that is lose especially long sleeve stuff, I do like the item u just turned cross grain Iam going to have to try it on a small pc. Of wood first if all goes well I will move up to bigger wood😅
I have a pine dining table that is nearly 200 years old, it withstood me and my siblings as kids and is standing up to excessive abuse from my own little crazy offspring… so yeah, I’d say it’s a fairly durable material. Not if you buy it from ikea however 😆
At the next to bottom of my list (mimosa is the bottommost). I haven’t turned white pine but southern yellow pine is gummy beyond toleration and the grain is unpleasing to my eye.

Some wood turners don't think much of pine. It's nice to see that someone does.
Beautiful ✨
Beautiful end product 😊
If that had been me turning the pine, a trip to the ER would be a high probability.
I am always mesmerized when the wood gets its final finish, and the grain is at its best. This one is so beautiful.
I’d buy that… I find the growth rings really interesting. Looks great!
Pine is always so underrated because people see it as just utilitarian, boring wood. And the smell is just wonderful. Thanks for showing it some love.

Nice job JM, it turned out great. When I saw the little log with all of those growth rings, I got very interested.😎
Of course Pine can be beautiful - especially if you are turning it.

Very nice, did it develop anymore shakes as it dried? I used to turn green wood, but gave up, due to not being able to manage the drying out well.
Yes it can.

Nice piece Jack. I do like pine myself. What is larch like to turn ? I've got access to an abundance of it. 👍🏴
👋👍
Indeed! Is that your new shop setup?
This video is from 2021. I cannot wait to see his new shop though!
Need to lock your exposure settings so it doesn't strobe the turning part during cuts.
But doesn't it check and crack to bits when it dries? Or did that finish prevent it from drying too fast?
Great stuff, J. Mack! 😁
Is there a reason why you used the chisel thingy to get the knob off of it instead of a saw?
I won't sleep thinking that the crack isn't fixed
This video is a curse
What's that electric carving tool?
IKEA seems to think pine can be beautiful. 😊
Can it be durable? Ehhh...

Простая фигура вращения. Стоило ли показывать?
Ah imagine the smell
Do you sign your Beautiful work?
What happens when it dries out? It said this was a green log?

That's a spruce log not a pine. You'll be able to smell the difference:)
Electric chisel ?
