#HSN #Ripoff #coincollecting
Thanks for being a good guy. People need to be warned of these ripoffs.
Its funny that he says the silver eagles are "almost impossible to get" when he has 2 mega boxes of them on his desk. 🤣🤣🤣
All precious metal dealers are scammers! 90% if of people that buy precious metals get burned for years or decades. Stay away from spot price silver!!
Yes
And another roll
1:16 Unfortunately I'm pretty sure taking advantage of the elderly is in the mission statement for every home shopping network.
It seems to be :(
Omg this is hilarious. When I was in college, my roommate and I would watch HSN at night when some goofball was on selling coins and we would just keep calling them, asking about how much they would be worth to our non-existent grandkids. We of course never bought anything. Such scammers.
That was brutal! Bradford Exchange is as bad, if not worse! Thanks for getting this out there!
When I first start collecting I bought from HSN, Littleton Coin Company and The Bradford Mint thinking I was getting a great deal. I just never did my homework. Then I started watching videos on UA-cam from people like you that were showing exactly what they are (a scam). I sold some of the items and yup didn’t get close to what I paid. Now I do my work I scour the different retail companies APMEX, Hero Bullion, SD Bullion etc for deals and low prices. Wish I would of known this when I first started would of saved a tremendous amount of money. Lesson learned the hard and expensive way.
Unfortunately your story is all too common. Good on you for sticking with it and educating yourself!
And this is a prime example why I have steered my friends away from HSN and others, helped them build a relationship with our coin guy and others. I laugh at the clad proof coins advertised on TV.. it screams deception
It's not just HSN it's literally every pawn shop and antique store as well. The issue I have with this is you can get everything cheaper if actually know where to look. It's like buying gas or something where I live it's was $4.90 and 5 Miles down the road it was $4.75.
I would not be surprised if they send you a
Cease and desist letter for this video I even know a local dealer who was sued by them because he was talking trash about them for the same exact reason you are. I understand what you are doing and why you are doing it but you have to be really careful with how you do it because these big business do not care about you at all they only care about money
The $447 ampex price was if you purchased 50+ units. If you purchase only 1 it was $487. Still less, but let’s keep it above board here.
EBAY IS GETTING THAT BAD BY LETTING SELLER'S DO THE SAME
HSN prays on the Elderly. I would not buy silver bullion online, ever! I go to a supplier for $5 over spot if i wanted to buy bullion
I think most real coin collectors, know, about HOME,SCAM,NETWORK, BUt I am glad you did this, for the beginner, Mike Sleezjack!
Yikes! I can't even imagine that people are paying that. That was painful.
Yeah, you got him pegged all right!! Made me nauseous! Disgusting!
Crooks period!
Someone who knows the law should bring these people to court.
#75. I dealt with HSN years and years ago. I used to buy the bags of wheat pennies, not too familiar with gold and silver at the time.
And now when I watch HSN or Rare Coin Collectibles, I do it with my computer on my lap with eBay keyed up to check out the price differences.
You can almost compare it with a buy it here car place, the drive it off the lot price is what they paid for the car and the monthly payment to them is the gravy. Great video. Take care. 👍
The audience targeted for this unfortunately aren't as computer and somewhat vulnerable for the sales pitch . There will always be an audience for hucksters like him you just hope you're able to save one person from his clutches
Here in Scotland USA eagle,s are 50/70 dollars each ,and are mostly sold
out all the time ,and there's 20 % tax on silver here but no tax on gold 🤔 the premiums on silver is getting out of hand ,I was told many years ago to be a good coin dealer 1st you need to be a good Thief , 🤔
John Wayne said it best, "Life is hard, but it's harder if you're stupid"
I don’t agree with the pricing at all myself, and while I never bought from them, I still liked watching HSN back when I was in middle school because I liked to see what different products were out there in the market.
You they do that man you are the best thanks for your helping people
Up here in Canada, we've got the TSC which is our version of HSN, we've got Steven Bromberg. He's resells Royal Canadian Mint products and usually takes the coin out of their encapsulation. Is that a hint? I understand premiums, the local coin dealer has to pay the rent, but these guys go after the uninitiated or, as you've said, the elderly who are trying to have something for their children. I'm glad I collect banknotes... 😀
Thanks for exposing these jokers for what they are. I feel sorry for the elderly folks spending their hard earned money on this severely overpriced stuff.
Those prices are ridiculous. As a bullion dealer I would not charge those prices.
The only thing that is good about HSN is that it is at least not a scam. Like selling fake shit scam. It's the true definition of an F-tier way to buy metals.
And trust me. Anyone who buys from HSN is the kind of person that would have bought fake silver/gold on ebay or something. At least they're not getting scammed. They're just getting ripped off.
another reason why i love watching you silverpicker!
The main thing to take in consideration these usually comes with payment plans so no upfront costs
HSN was also price gouging PS5 during the shortage for around 1000$ for the disc version.
Felt sorry for people that buy coin from HSN
why am i paying the price i am when i could be paying double the price god damn i should be buying from them so i can waste my money why buy 1kg for 700 dollars when i could buy 500g for 600 dollars wow what a scam
Yeah, you are 100% , makes me sick!! Ripping off older and younger people trying to get into numismatics !! They go from price gouging to predatory pricing all the time!!!! Great video
It's awful, right? Glad you enjoyed!
This HSN sleepy Mike Guy is a dreadful human being.
He makes me sick in the guts , I want to take him out into the desert and show him the wild flowers.
Solid vid!! Great field reporting!!
Love you channel , glad you are educating new coin collectors to avoid these scams.
How do they sleep at night! Great Internet research, Silverpicker.
There are some shady coin dealers who sell for as much as HSN...
Great video although I do have a soft spot for them because if not for HSN and watching it with my grandmother I would have never gotten into coin collecting she ordered me my first ones from there
THIS...is exactly why we binge ur channel.
Great stuff...again! Many thx...again...and again...and again....
Thanks so much Danny!!
I FEEL YOUR PAIN !! NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR THE TRUTH !! BE WELL !!
HSN also markets gold coins and Morgan silver dollars that can be bought at retail prices for well under what they are selling them for.
Great information on your channel !!!
It's even worse for the consumer. HSN buys in bulk and gets a big discount. So they don't even pay the going wholesale rate.
"There's a sucker born every minute" - P.T. Barnum.
Yes this is a bad deal but you have to understand the mark up comes from the certificate of authenticity shipping the tv network and the guy selling it including employers that's why you shouldn't buy anything you see on tv without doing research
One of the funniest vids I've seen in awhile...lol. you must be a glutton for punishment, seeing the anguish in your face! Thank you for the entertainment, AND the education!
I LOVE YOUR WAY OF DEALING WITH HIM. I WATCH HIM JUST TO LAUGH.
Take a shot every times he says “ounces” 😂
Thanks for sharing this video I knew there was a reason I NEVER SHOP ON TV Thanks for being the GOOD GUY HERE FOR EXPOSING THIS LOVE YOUR CHANNEL 😊
I just got video of Mike the coin guy talking about how American silver eagles the the business strikes have gone up 500%. I'd love to sell my eagles at 500%. That makes me selling my eagles for a hundred bucks a pop that guy Mike Mizak is now actually flat out lying and not misleading and how nobody's reported him to the FCC for false advertising blows my mind
I love watching HSN coin show but would never ever buy anything from them. Mike Mezack is a shister.
eBay is getting just as bad the lowest price I can find for a 1oz bar is $10 over spot that’s around $32 an oz it’s getting crazy but HSN is the worst
Great I am glad you did this for the people 😀👏👍...
A Statue of Liberty coin with the queen on the back , is that ment to be a joke ha ha ha ha 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
😂😂😂
Cool shirt. HSN and silver bullion with Mike is a double profit combo premium that they buyer pays HSN and Mike M for. The buyer is paying a premium to sit on their butt at home. Make a phone call to HSN. Then HSN will deliver their product and the buyer also has flex pay so they can work it out with their fixed income payments. I know this is hard to watch but many HSN buyers are elderly or disabled and cannot just go drive to a LCS to buy silver. Or worse if they did have access to the internet they would get scammed by fake silver online retailers. At least HSN is providing a service for a small niche of Americans that have no other choice. Many of these buyers don't even have any family or friends that can help them make a purchase like this. Again I know this is hard to watch as a young capable man who is really into collecting and knows all the best places to buy silver from. However, HSN exists for a reason and they will be around until all their buyers are no longer around.
I warned my family while back about rip-off coin deals on tv. One coin dealer here has shelve full of Chinese made, good for nothing fake wood, TV special display boxes.
So I know this is not to much about coins, but how do you get all these coins. Do you go to the bank or do you get them off a website? Thanks!
Sincerely, Luke
Nice job thank you
I am looking at your video because I'm finally going through the coins my dad had, he passed a few years ago. Luckily the HSN packing slip was in the box of this one coin for example. I am so sad that he got ripped off. I am surprised there is not a class action lawsuit against them. The coin I was looking at is a Morgan dollar o over s. I am not really a coin collector (Had a penny book when I was younger) and so was doing reach to find values.
I'm sorry to hear that :(
Well done, Max!
Coin King sounds like a used car dealer that got a new suit
Got a question does putting coins in a ziplock bag make them turn green
Watch "Cash for Gold" (South Park) season 2.
I think HSN is more honest and trust worthy than the average of the politician.
Sad but true.
I ALMOST FELL OUT MY SEAT this is ripoff insane
First time to see him????
He has been on tv for 20+ years!!!!
The price of anything is simply based on what the seller can command, and it costs a lot more money to broadcast on television, therefore they can demand more money because they have better advertising and can reach more potential buyers. If apmex spent the same amount of money on advertising its silver as it cost to run that television channel then apmex would be charging a lot more as well because they would need to recoup their advertising costs.
Where can I get a book on coins and values
Any book store or coin store.
You should see what Italian gold bars putting in a bezel on a necklace are going for and for an idea it's $259 per gram on a 18 carat gold 18 inch necklace the hype on precious metals has got the sharks coming out of hiding, and they're ready to feed.
Well put lol
14:40 did he just say 500 grams was equal to 20 ounces?!??!!? That's almost a 3.5 ounce difference!
Nice information my friend ✊
RIPOFF ALERT RIPOFF ALERT WE WOO WE WOO
Been watching him for years and he’s getting more brazen every week 😮
His day is coming 😊
Definitely a rip off! That dude is slime top to bottom!!
nice video
It’s too bad tv air time is expensive otherwise u could have parts of this vid play as commercials 😂
I love watching Mike Mezack every Saturday and Sunday mornings on the History Channel just to hear what lies he comes up with next 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. He says he has sold more silver and gold than anyone in the history of coins. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mike is the biggest liar to ever walk the earth 🌎. He said he was at the Fun Show in Florida earlier this year, and he was the ONLY DEALER at the entire show that was selling silver. The only person there on the property selling silver 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Don’t use ampex as a reference lol. Other places are literally half the price per oz. They are just like HSN. Also there is no shortage. I can buy whatever quantity of any type of silver
After knowing PM now. It gives me a better understanding what's the best to buy.😃
Avoid HSN at all costs.
I am surprised you did not talk about the ANACS , “advanced release” and one of 222. Have someone sign and turn a $50 silver eagle into a $400 collectible. Of course it is not just ANACS. It’s sad when people spend hundreds for a holder. They wake up when they try to sell their $400 Eagle at coin dealer and offers them 50 bucks. Coin value references only talk about coins, your not going to see a value for a signed first release because they are only worth what coin is worth. Label scams are the worst scams out there and suck in the most people. I think label collecting is a whole industry in its own piggy backed on coins. Rule 1, 2, and 3 buy the coin not the label.
south park episode said it best about HSN
so he talks about 222 pieces of silver eagles and you don't react on that that they let it look like there are only 222 pieces are minted but in reality there are 160000 minted
Entertaining video. Hope u do more. I just feel bad for the elderly people on a fixed income getting ripped off.
100%
I remember watching a similar type channel selling Morgan Silver dollar coins, and doing the same thing that HSN did. I didn't fall for it.
Send me the video if you have it! I'll react to that too
Ounces and ounces and ounces of silver, golly sign me up! 😂
I have been saying for years that there's no way in hell I would buy anything from this guy! All you have to do is see the show then while watching eBay the product. Then see the difference.
Look ,before ya leap !
First of all, the Apmex prices you were quoting were if you bought 50+, the price is 20% higher if you were only buying 1. Also, the silver bar prices were very fair, so I have no idea what you’re talking about there.
No shortage of silver bullshit. I can go any where right now and get silver. To even listen to this is crazy
thanks Max 🙌
turned your silver into gold eh
Before my local coin dealer retired, occasionally someone would come to the shop with HSN coins. The shock these poor folks felt when seeing the true price of their coins was painful to watch. Often they felt the coin dealer was trying to take advantage, even though there were cases of priced coins as examples.of true pricing.
Yep, it's definitely sad. Seen it myself as well
This would be the hardest part of a coin dealer's job.. Delivering the bad news to people who were duped (or more likely their family) and being blamed as the ripoff at the same time.
Great job seeker your amazing 🤩
Definition of an expert: an ex is a has been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure. It cracked me up that the first flex payment you make for the coin is basically still higher than the value of the coin. Bahahahaha
yea ive been telling people not to buy coins/metal from TV or magazine adds since i started. the only way i can play devils advocate ia little s because theyre a tv show with overhead n bla bla bla. but then you find out theyre a US mint authorized distributor so those eagles he wants to sell for $1100 he/they got for like a few $ over spot.
BUYER be ware! Always unscrupulous people.
Not entirely related, but the mother-in-law got me a two-dollar bill that was printed over to celebrate - 4th of July I think - they're going for $15 and up.
oh boy 😂
Ugh I can’t finish it, it’s just horrible
“ShOtAge Of sIlver”
Silver spot being under 23$ and I can get an ounce for 25$
My Great grandmother introduced me to coins, when I was young. About 10-15 years ago we used to watch the coin vault. She lived in rural Wisconsin, not many shops around like today. I feel bad she had no idea these guys were scammers, although she only used to buy nice gold and silver she passed down to me.
Hopefully the price increase in metals over the years made it worth it
Isn’t that price on Apmex if you buy 50 or more?
The price for buying one is basically the same. Take a look
