It would consider this neither a ride or a coaster, I would consider it a huge mistake!
TRUE!!!!
And a waste of money and time
It was NOT a huge mistake I think it’s a cool coaster ride 😎
Kinda like what your mother considers you?
I’d still heavily consider the first gen Intamin free falls as coasters before these monstrosities.
those are 100% coasters, in my book
Absolutely coasters.
They’re more coaster than something like Superman: Escape from Krypton at SFMM.
Tidal Twister is not a coaster, though.
maybe someday skyline will make an actual real rollercoaster that isn’t incredibly rough or gimmicky
I can only hope their new kiddie coaster model can be like that
I mean this one non prototype now offered with lapbar restraints only is basically a schwarzkopf Bayern curve remake. That said I'd like to see those spaghetti bowl kid/family coasters be built soon.
they design a lot of the gci's actually, wouldn't consider that really making the ride, but they're really good at layouts
I walked past this the other day and couldn't believe it was open again after quite some time being closed. Will avoid at all costs. Thanks for this informative review!
It's the ever existing question on such short powered railed rides. Is this a coaster? Is the Bayernkurve a coaster? Was the classic "Katapult" from Germany a coaster? Is the Alpenexpress Enzian in Europa Park (or every other similar powered coaster) a coaster? In my opinion: If you call larger powered coasters a rollercoaster, you have to call rides like Tidal Twister a rollercoaster too. Because taking the length as a critical differentiator would count out short rollercoasters like whacky worms and many other very short children coasters.
So do you count Larson Superloops as coasters?
@@Emonadeo By my given definition: yes, these have to be counted as coasters too. As said: It's hard to draw a logical sounding line on that definition. You can't logically dismiss by length, you can't dismiss by launch or power type. This way, it might be a bit weird, but Larson Loops or Sunkid Butterflies...are rollercoasters!
Hang time is my favorite sensation on a ride, so I believe I would love the start of this ride and probably the rest of it as well
Being one who loves hangtime on coasters.. I’ve got a bad feeling I would actually like this thing. But it is as much of a roller coaster as those Music Express rides.
It’s the world’s smallest RMC T-Rex
*only
First, tallest, longest, fastest, most inverting, revolutionary and military-grade RMC T-Rex!
So we’ll paced!
Such vibes of "not a coaster Oh my god" from one of your parody videos feels like it's playing in the background, though I would say this one is closer, it's basically the modern Shwarzkophf "Bayern Curve." But I have to agree with someone in the comments, those first generation intamin drop towers (I wish Dorney would move forward with the gravity group shuttle I want a real reason to go back besides the old drop tower lol) are more like coasters than these "track flat rides" they are calling coasters.
100% a rollercoaster because i feel bad for people who subject themselves to that and don't even get a credit out of it like you deserve it
A roller coaster requires the use of gravity which this does not. There are plenty of painful flat rides in this world, and this is no different.
@@scottyjbd So that means that sky rockt 2’s arent roller coasters then, think about what u say before u say something!
@@scottyjbd i’m not being serious
@@braydenradler3863but skyrocket 2's require gravity
Tbh I feel this is something I'd see at a traveling fair than a park. Even sounds like a fair ride that has been ran into the ground
Rest In Peace Robbie Coltrane you will be missed.
I know most know him as "Hagrid" and that's cool but RIP the pierce Brosnan era mobster to anti hero from goldeneye and world is not enough "Valentin Zukovsky." He was awesome.
I find it interesting how between this and Harley Quinn, you call one a flat and one a coaster. I would think everyone would call them both either flats or coasters.
I had a season pass for SWSD this year, and from the time I first got it to the time it expired, this was never opened.
I’d so go on this lol
I'm thinking some sort of dystopian Bayern Curve
Are you going To ride Dr. Diabolical at all this Year?
hey nice to make a video of a flatride instead of a coaster once
I think it has to have a proper station, track, and braking system to be considered a coaster. This has the same problem with being a coaster that a Larson loop does. It's sort of always at the station area, like a flat ride
My only argument with that would be the sky rocket IIs, intamin impulse and halfpipes. Shuttle loops as well.
lol last time I saw this ride it was closed because some bird literally made a nest on it and no one felt like relocating it either 😂
I’ve been to SWSD twice in 2 different years, and it’s been closed both times. I kind of wish I could’ve ridden it for the experience, but I’m not sad I missed it lol
the new rides look good. someone just needs to buy one
There's one being assembled in a museum right now.
@@riparianlife97701 thanks I never knew that
@@radbricks8298 Their engineers work with GCI and other companies on specialty elements. Tidal Twister's track was built by RMC, the stations were built by GCI, the controls and trains were built by Skyline, and the drive system is from Pinfarina.
If I’m going to ride this I deserve a credit. Plus it’s not about feeling it’s about straight up definition. And mine is about the following. If a ride for even a split second of its duration uses coasts with no external power and rides on wheels on a tack it’s a coaster period and I think this ride passes the definition
Based on that definition......a Tilt-O-Whirl is a coaster.
@@BackSeatJunkie tilt a whirls to my knowledge don’t ride on wheels on track.
Honestly I wanna see more of these. The new revisions seem pretty cool
Love the bulky over the shoulder restraints 😂
Thanks for riding that so I don't have to LOL
At least skyline have actually redeemed themselves with their newer models stepping away from the big bulky restraints. Plus the recently just came up with their own track design and trains instead of everything being built from RMC.
What have they sold since this...
@@Brandon-qd2lb A working model for a museum and partnership with GCI mainly for titan track! That latter be the zambezi zinger coaster opening next year. If they get one of those family spaghetti bowl coasters out there I'd say they will have redeemed there early days. Plus perhaps there revised version of this ride will sell, I miss schwarzkopf Bayern curves and this is basically a remake with an inversion.
If it doesn't coast, it's not a roller.
Powered coasters?
@@thecoastergnome8603 Not credits, in my opinion.
@@Vice4Life I like your integrity
@@Vice4Life though I believe this ride itself does coast for a little bit meaning it is a coaster
@@Vice4Life also here is my basic definition for a coaster: If a ride for even a split second of its duration uses coasts with no external power and rides on wheels on a tack it’s a coaster period
I visited SeaWorld San Diego last April and this thing looked abandoned and it wasn’t even on the map they gave us. I honestly thought this was gone for sure. Didn’t have a chance to ride it, but it looks like that was a good thing.
it's like the whole ride is the chain lift
I definitely see what you guys are saying about it being a flat ride. It acts and feels like one. But in my eyes it's more of a roller coyster as it's a cart going through track. But I also agree on it not being great. I found it right uncomfortable and boring. They shouldn't remove the ride tho as it's very unique but still a bad one
I didnt have to ride and felt my head and neck hurt
It is bc it rolls and coasts. It also goes up and down. It also has a definite track, and it doesn’t go off the track. It has trains as well. It’s a coaster.
It doesn't coast.
It doesn't coast though
Yesterday I was on the ride and it broke down
My question is if the people at Skyline attractions have ever actually ridden a good amusement ride before
I consider Tidal Twister as a coaster credit. It is listed on RCDB. However, I can see this ride as a one-and-done attraction.
RCDB is noooo authority lol
@@scottyjbd Well, I still consider this ride a coaster, and if I ride it, I would definitely add it to my coaster count. And if I need that credit to reach a certain milestone, so be it. End of debate.
Was the big problem in the restraints during the hangtime or the blood rush in the hangtime?
This ride is now getting removed after it “tore it self apart” according to an article I read
I think it is a rollercoaster but i rode it and I enjoyed it I guess other people don’t think it is smooth but I like it
What a brutal ride lol
I definitely agree with you guys that it's not necessarily a coaster. I rode this a couple months ago and definitely determined that it was a "one-and-done" attraction. It sounds and feels like it should be at traveling fairs rather than a solid establishment at an amusement park. But hey, kind of a unique credit in the long run.
It’s a coaster it’s got about as much gravity power as a Zamperla powered coaster and those count as credits plus RCDB don’t lie
Well, RcDb may not.lie, but they are wrong...powered coaster is a oxymoron
Rode this for the first time last week and thought it was decent. Definitely better than Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster. I'm counting it as a roller coaster because it's on rcdb, but it really is just a glorified flat ride. I also have to count it because if I don't, I'd also have to not count Harley Quinn, and that would mess up my milestone coasters 😆
Edit: rode it again yesterday with Mark and thought it was utter garbage. Do not ride.
are u guys going to europe again now or what?
We are leaving to go back in a couple days!
Should have gotten a b&m
*"It's like Ironman's suit. You know, the original crappy one made out of scraps."*
- my daughter's exact text with link
I live in San diego and haven't even ridden it yet. Every time I've gone it's broken down.
Same here. Also live in San Diego and haven’t ridden it because it’s always broken down
You guys aren't missing out much. This ride is just OK. It's not that great imo.
This makes a Larson Loop look incredible
if it has to manually pulled by a machine for the whole ride it’s not a coaster
This is like an updated (and worse) version of Bayern's Kurve. Was that a coaster? I don’t think it was. Damn I miss that ride tho.
I was thinking the same thing. It looks slower and takes way too long to actually get the real ride cycle started.
If that is a roller coaster, so are Zamperla discos. And Rockin’ tugs. And Larsen Loops. Nah.
Technically I say no. A Rollercoaster is supposed to go on its own with the assistance of gravity after the lift, launch etc. Any ride powered isn't truly a rollercoaster imo.
Dictionary definition: a small gravity railroad, especially in an amusement park, having a train with open cars that moves along a high, sharply winding trestle built with steep inclines that produce sudden, speedy plunges for thrill-seeking passengers.
I consider it a coaster however this video made me doubt a bit
Rip it out and get a skyline psghetti bowl!
deff not a coaster lol 😭
Not a flat-ride either! Just nah!
This was closed on my visit and I'm glad it was.
Seems to me there is no gravity induced speedchange and thus not a rollercoaster.... powered coaster do go faster when going down so those are rollercoasters
I consider it a roller coaster because its on track idk why u guys think its not a coaster smh!
Did you guys think this was better than Harley Quinn?
yes, but not by much
To me, if there is nothing pushing/pulling the train, it’s a coaster, because it’s literally coasting through the track. This looks like it’s pushed or pulled all the way through, so I don’t call it a coaster.
Glorified flat ride
If it rolls and primarily coasts, it’s a roller coaster. No matter how stupid it is otherwise.
It's so bizarre that the same company that designed Mystic Timbers made this monstrosity. It's a bad flat ride that they pretend to be a roller coaster. Kind of like how the other Skyline makes bad spaghetti that they call chili.
Just 3 employees from GCI but yeah. Don't you dare disrespect Skyline.
Woah, you can call out Skyline for making bad rides, but I will not stand for you besmirching the good name of Skyline Chili.
@@thebluepineapple684 they disrespected us with these… so relax Skyline fanboy 😂
What’s funny is that skyline is actually making a roller coaster and it’s called the P’sghetti coaster
@@gddatfatrat2390 I know when I first heard of that, I hadn't heard of Skyline Attractions, so I thought it was literally Skyline Chili making a coaster.
Just because it is bad doesn’t make it any less of a coaster? It coasts on track and it has four coaster elements. I can’t name a flat ride that takes you through a barrel roll ON A TRACK. it’s a coaster, quality has nothing to do with it.
Sea World San Diego is my home park and this ride was not a very pleasant experience and also must not be for maintenance because it’s been closed for months, they definitely should have also demolished the bayside amphitheater to build something that would really put it in the map like a raptor or maybe a vekoma top gun which in the animation had water over it just like the amphitheater
If that’s a roller coaster, then so is the Fire Ball, and I don’t think either one is. 🤣
This is called a rail ride.
IT'S NOT A COASTER! Oh my god.
wow this is a first and last and I didn't ride it so nope. Also I hope BGW doesn't put one of these in
Had I known that damn thing was open again I definitely would have warned you off brother, they really need to rip that thing out of the ground and get it out of the park
Six Flags had the cajones to do it so should Sea World.
What are those shoulder restraints? That looks so uncomfortable.
Not a coaster as it's continuously powered by drive wheels and at no point is it ever actually coasting. It's closer to a powered track ride, though it does not use train-mounted motor, which is common among powered coasters. This is not a coaster the same way a Ring-o-Fire isn't a coaster.
Ring of fire seems like more of a coaster than this thing. Momentum changes due to gravity is a big part of the RoF ride experience.
It does actually coast without external energy applied for a few seconds at a time, unlike a Larson Loop that is a controlled powered rotation. Now that technically means it counts but it's a stretch because you only have a few seconds where it isn't powered at a time.
If we are really straining the definitions we can come up with all sorts of technicalities. For example, a lot of people include Alpine coasters as credits which is perfectly fair. And most people consider bobsled coasters as coasters. Well if you count both of those then what about Alpine Slides? Those are basically the bobsled version of Alpine coasters and they have a track, wheels and move based on momentum without being powered. So are they credits? I mean, if you are only using rigid definitions without any attention to the big picture then you might actually count them. But I can't imagine anyone counting those. If they did then riding a shopping cart down a track would also count as a credit and then we've devolved into chaos.
It looks like a hellish combination of a Larson Loop and a Bayern Kurve.
I guess congrats on actually getting to ride it. IT is always closed when I've went to the park. It looks horrible. A really BAD credit.
No, coasters require gravity, which these do not take advantage of!
Well that was… certainly… a ride
I don't see why people hate these so much, I think it's a really cool idea
Good idea =/= good execution
Fun ride but restraints are way too big
Its a rollercoaster WELCOME SARAH yes California the rolllercoaster Island of the US
Not a coaster. Just a stupid contraption 😆
A tire-fire of an attraction!
I would say no personally, but I can definitely say it was not fun. Stunningly rough for using RMC track. Probably the OTS restraints.
Such complex engineering in the service of what doesn't seem to be a pleasant or fun experience.
It’s on RCDB, so it counts.
Don't surrender your soul to rcdb. They are just humans, no better than you. They have made many mistakes.
Definitely a flat ride and it looks cool but doesn’t look fun
Just a quirky idea that didn’t work out.
And they've designed 2.0 versions.
not a coaster . . . . .many other loop rides like this at local carnivals
It’s a flat ride .
Should count as -1
Looks like a flat ride to me.
totally a flat ride. nothing about that to me says coaster. this ride says put me in a state carnival lol
Where's the SFMM vlog?
It’s on the way!
I actually had thought they’d permanently closed this mega-turd! It was sold as this phenomenal revolutionary ride and it looks like something that was lucky to sell a few units on an off day at IAAPA to your average knock-off Chuck E Cheese
Pipe Scream is a coaster. Harley Quinn was a coaster. Stay mad.
Nope. Weird flat ride
Nope, not a coaster
It barely qualifies, just like Pipe Scream at Cedar Point.
from what I have seen of skyline they are the definition of great ideas, poor execution
That looks like a horrible experience, I felt your pain. Your actual, physical pain. The damn thing even sounds like IT'S in pain. Ow.
Not a coaster...carnival ride at best and one you dont even ride anyway because it doesnt even look fun
Apparently Sea World San Diego Doesn’t Either Because It’s Not Blue 😂😂😂😂😅
