For me, the USS Iowa and the in-game version of the modernised Amagi are the most beautiful battleships in game, in terms of sleekness, speed and deadly delivery of devastating firepower.

Have to agree. Went up the US line first both in CBT and open, but the Yamato is just the king. And it's gorgeous. Sleek and brutal at the same time.
James Ross The Yamato is pretty sweet too but it's a lot bigger and chunkier. The Amagi looks like it would slice through the waves like a knife through hot butter.

I've pretty much given up doing it for battleships. They never play around it even when I tell them what I'm doing so why bother when 90% of the time its just a waste of my CD.
please don't stop trying. I'm a BB player and when a dd does this for me I jump in my seat. you keep doin the lords work. let those who would disregard your gift earn their demise. there are many of us who appreciate it.
try to communicate that in chat before you lay smoke, that can help. I always appreciate it when I get covered with smoke, so just don't give up on BB players. you might wanna keep an eye on the way they play. that helps you to estimate if it is worth it or not.
I was surprised to see some realistic dd gameplay

jingles, as someone who plays the benson and makes it a habit of sinking Battleships whenever i can, i can tell you right now that only 1 out of 4 battleships i sink is with torps, the rest die to gunfire. the benson is absurdly good at that. and to any american/russian DD player out there, make sure to keep going in reverse or in 1/4 speed inside your own smoke to avoid what happened to that enemy benson.
Last night a Langley sank a US DD with secondary guns. Now that was special to watch. Remember kids, you have guns and don't always have to rush to torp range!
I've seem far too many DD's die without shooting any guns. If you are detected, close enough to shoot, and torps are on cool-down USE YOUR GUNS! Even the small amount of damage can make a difference, and if they are almost dead just kill them!
Hey Jingles, this is a bit more on the unusual side for me since I don't really comment on videos. For all the years I've been on UA-cam, this is within my first 5 comments if memory serves me right. I'm a bit of a weird one on your channel since I've never actually played WoT or WoWs before, nor had I ever heard about it before stumbling across your channel. I honestly can't remember when I found you or how large your channel was, but something about your delivery had me hooked to the point where I was binge watching a series about a game I personally had no interest in prior. It started off with WoT videos, and I got to the point where I realized even though the episodes would be 20+ minutes, I'd still watch them religiously in my free time. After a few weeks of that, I remember reading through the comments and seeing someone mention your voice and that's when it hit me that I too was enchanted by the smooth delivery... At that moment, I subbed, and started watching your other popular series WoWs. Time went by watching all of your videos as they came out, and I found myself really enjoying them and looking forward to more. I know that this may just seem like a long post with no point other than being grateful, so I won't waste anymore time on backstory... WoWp... Recently, I heard you mention the game and it intrigued me, but from what you said, it was complete rubbish. Only yesterday did I decide to search it on your channel and wow... It really was a steaming pile of horse shit... However your last video was over 2 years ago. When I searched it on YT itself though, I realized that most videos of it are dated and not many people take it seriously. I did however filter the search and found some recent footage and I actually thought the game looked good... I don't know why I feel obligated to spend my time making a comment about this, but I honestly feel like you should do a follow-up review of the game as it is now, and if you enjoy it, treat it like you do WoT and WoWs... I honestly believe that game is going to just die if no one pays it any attention, but after watching how much it's progressed, I can't help but feel they really tried their best to improve the game, and you're the only person I know that would be able to influence the community in any way to start playing the game again. So from your fan from the Caribbean island of Trinidad (shameless representing), please give the fucking game another review man... lol I wanna watch some Warplanes too in my spare time.
Why do I absolutely crack up every time he mentions "angry smokescreens"? It's just so funny to see random smoke screens with shells coming from them.
"Just because you are invisible does not mean I can't see you!" What happened to the Edinborough happened to me in a computer game with invisible submarines, but where you COULD see the torpedoes. The enemy sub thought that he was invulnerable since I could not see him, but he kept repeating himself and I was able to put a torpedo into him by knowing where the next torp was coming from and, yep, there he was. NEVER think you are too smart to be hit by the enemy!!!
The Iowas had different guns than the North Carolinas and SoDaks. The SoDaks and North Carolinas used the Mark 6 16”/45 caliber gun, which was designed to be shorter and lighter to comply with the treaty restrictions (both classes were treaty battleships). The Iowas had the Mark 7 16”/50 caliber guns, which were longer than the Mark 6, and as a result had a higher muzzle velocity and longer range. Both guns use the same shells though, the Mark 8 APCBC “Super Heavy” shell. All three classes are tied for the second heaviest broadside, with only the Yamato being able to chuck more lead down range.

Also, the main weapons of the North Carolina- and the Iowa-class are technically different. The North Carolinas were armed with 45 caliber 16 inch Mark 6 main guns. The Iowa-class were armed with 50 caliber Mark 7 16 inch main guns. The Mark 7 50 Caliber was also to be equip the Montana-class Dreadnought Battleships. Interesting to note, the Montana-class was predicted to have so much power in a single broadside of 12x 16/50 Mk.7 guns, that the US Navy had to come up with an entirely new recoil system, which lead to significant changes in the construction of the barbette and turret. In fact, the Montana-class, while not the largest, would have easily been the most powerful Battleship afloat had any been built with a broadside weight greater and more accurate than the Yamato-class.

That wacky camo scheme was real... it was intended to confuse optical rangefinding. A lot of camo schemes in the '30s and '40s weren't meant to hide ships but to make it harder to identify ships and determine their distance, range, and course in the days before everyone had and used radar-assisted targeting.

The Iowa is quite slender and long by battleship standards. Kantai saves us the effort of imagining what she'd look like btw. Amusingly they even got the scaling right. She is slightly taller than Yamato, which is accurate as the Iowa was slightly longer than the Yamato(albeit nowhere near as wide or heavy).

The Iowas were designed with several restrictions in mind, chief of which was the ability to fit through the locks of the Panama Canal (the Montana class is where that would have gone out tthe window--as it did with the rebuilds of West Virginia, California, and Tennessee). This meant a beam of less than 110'. Also, she was meant to keep up with the new carriers, so machinery and a compatible hull form was required to make 33+knots. Her armor was still unbalanced compared to her own main armament, but she was in good company here (would not be rectified until the Montanas, which were never built--50k ton carriers were more desirable than 75k ton battleships by '44). Also, the design still labored under the upgrade clause of the London Naval Treaty, which is to say 40k tons empty displacement with around 10% slop.

Iowa is such a gorgeous ship, I actually did a report on it in Middle School, and it was awesome to see videos and learn so much about it.
I too recall doing a project in school on ships. Except mine was in my senior year of highschool in my English class, and I did mine on how stupid I thought the U.S. Navy was for calling the USS Alaska and Guam "Large Cruisers" instead of "Battlecruisers".
I remember my teacher looking at me and saying something to the effect of: "If this is what you classify as a 'mild irritation', then I don't think I want to know what you think makes you genuinely angry. Well done."

The Iowa and North Carolina are powerful ships, when bow on. From the side, they are glass cannons, with the citadel section extending from the forward guns to the aft guns, heck, from range I would score citadel hits with the amagi's 16 inch guns on the sides. Accurate side shots can completely devastate them, so yeah, oh and btw, the Kongo, tier 5 japanese BB, has 27% torpedo protection. Tier 5. And the Yamato has 54%. Still, its better than the Izumo's 26%.
Yeah, Iowa from the side is just citadel city, especially at close range. Oddly, I haven't had that experience firing at NCs, but maybe that's my Gneisenau's / Bismarck's 380mm guns and their weird trajectories. That being said, my second battle ever in a Bismarck included me deleting a full-HP Iowa with 6 citadels at ~5km range, broadside-on.

Fun fact! If you set the play speed to 1.5x, not only can you watch more of Jingles' videos in a set amount of time, he sounds like a speedy but distinguished sports announcer. (This removes his excellent speaking cadence tho.)

don't blame the sims jingles, sims torpedo is absolute shit, its the slowest torpedo above tier V. his only mistake is going near the CV secondary range.
Could have used a wide spread, and put half off to the left, half off the the right.
personally, i don't get why he didn't swap to AP when shooting the Lexington. Sure, no fires, but i've wasted Lexington's in half the time with my Farragut just shooting AP into the citadel...
He still fired the torps at a bad time, when the CV was mostly bow on and turning towards him. If he'd waited a little longer, he'd have been close enough to guarantee hits.
The sims is a better Mahan. It gets fast short range torpedoes, or slow long range torpedoes. Slow but stealthy torpedoes aren't that hard to aim, but this guy was clearly just firing them at the aim indicator rather than using his brainl.
Yansuki well he should've aimed one of the toros where he did then the 2ed just before so if the carrier slowed down like he did it would still kill him

I just wanted to see how it looked, but I couldn't stop watching it because it was so entertaining with your commentary.
I want to love the Iowa so much. She's a beautiful ship, and historically arguably the best BB ever built. But in-game I feel more confident in the North Carolina in a tier 10 game than I do in either the Iowa or Montana when they're top tier!

I don't see how the Iowa could miss that badly. They were famous for accuracy in which their shots landed in a radius smaller than their blast radius.

Not a huge fan of most ships in the US BB line but it all was worth it for the Iowa. One of the best ships in the game. If your fighting your way down the US BB line just keep telling yourself: Im doing it for the Iowa.

I'm already in love with the North Carolina. With Manual AA, she's utterly devastating; with her 16 inchers, she has the firepower to do wondrous things. Even the secondaries are decent in a pinch, although they're nowhere near as good as the Bismarck's Rain of Fire that kicks your arse at 10km. Combined with excellent speed, maneuverability and armour, the North Carolina is the sexiest ship I've played thus far. The ability to score 60k salvos on a Yamato and shoot down 36 planes in a single match is lovely instead.
When people then tell me that the Iowa is even better...oh sweet heavens, I want it. I want badly.
Cailus Griffin manual AA does nothing really for USN bbs as most your AA is from 40mm bofors. Manual AA only affects 85mm+ AA guns

I ate a Shikoku's planes for lunch in a game this week. 41 planes down. (more then the CV on my team) Some how I didn't get Clear sky one medal I have not gotten

North Carolina is a handsome ship but the Iowa class' lines are much more graceful. That said I would imagine that when North Carolina first showed up to cover Enterprise (CV 6) the carrier sailors probably thought she was the most beautiful ship they had ever seen, bristling with all those lovely AA guns.
I have to admit my bias for the Iowa class though, I've seen 3 of the 4 underway and firing their main armament at one time or another, 2 of them in anger.
I wonder if he got my Fujin game with 6 kills and a 215k damage game. Would have been a pleasant surprise to see it on UA-cam.
Iowa turned into a Massive Hull Shipgirl though, but her drawbacks are she's easy to Penetrate her "Citadel"

Just found out about this game a few days ago and have been bingeing your's and Baron's vids. I will definitely be installing this game on my new rig, even before skyrim, when I get it sometime next fall. Love your commentary, it feels like watching a waaaay more exiting game of golf. Do you know if the developers are going to be working on weather patches? Seems like high swells and fog would be a very interesting twist.

The last time I tried to close range to a CV in a DD, the first (and only) shell that hit me detonated my magazine... I'm not making that mistake ever again!

I love AA feeding Frenzy. Have a couple of ships that usually send back one plane per attack. I usually typein chat to the enemy CV "Nom nom nom, send some more".. Sadly they often never do for some reason...
too bad they had to nerf the Iowa and Montana by giving the Mark 7 16"/50 such a wide shot pattern.
dont think i ever played in this open Ocean map, would like to, all you can do is fight like ur supposed to , no camping no hiding, just good old concealment.
to bad this is not how 99% of games go on ocean, DDs fight in caps, cruisers have to stay back because there is no cover, and BBs have to stay back because their cruiser escort cant move up to deal with DDs, and carriers scout everything, while sitting in spawn and then get sniped, just an amazing map with thrilling games.
