ERITREA: “God is Always Miraculous”

- Helen Berhane was tortured then imprisoned in a metal shipping container in the African nation of Eritrea. But in spite of terrible persecution she kept singing praises to God!
In 2002, the Eritrean government banned evangelical churches from holding public worship services - forcing Christians to meet illegally, in secret. Helen and other believers did not stop meeting, and it wasn’t long until she and many other persecuted Christians were imprisoned. Helen had intentionally prepared herself; she was ready to stand firm in her faith for Christ even in the face of the persecution she knew was coming. Everything, she says, has a price, including following Jesus.
Listen as Helen shares how she prepared for her trials and the Bible verses that encouraged her even as she was held in the harshest of prison conditions. God’s presence continued to strengthen her to deny herself, stay disciplined and even gain a better understanding of Jesus’ suffering.
Helen would cry - not because of the situation, but because of her experience of the unconditional love of God. And through it all, Helen chose joy and kept on singing. Instead of worshipping in the front of the church or in the spotlight, she worshipped simply in the presence of God.

God bless this woman of God and her ministry in abundance and our brothers and sisters all over the world suffering persecution; give them extra faith, more strength, overwhelming Holy Spirit anointing peace, love and let them know we love them and our hearts are with them in spirit and truth. I have a question for you: WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO GO TO HEAVEN? According to the Bible, John 3: 5 tells us “..unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”
You need to be born again in Christ, in order to enter Heaven when you die: that means change your ways and live a righteous life. No one is perfect, but it important to repent everyday, because the worst thing anyone can ever hear is “Depart from me, I never knew you”…and be thrown into the eternity of Hell forever and ever.

I live in New York City. I grew up in Staten Island N.Y.
Back in 2004, I was staying in Newark NJ during the winter. I was living in a 1973 Buick Electra 4 door.
Constant snow. I was doing snow removal for Newark Airport.
The snow removal company hired me after the winter had ended, and put me on a dump truck full time doing street cleaning for the City of Newark. Crime riddled and impoverished, is Newark NJ.
I met a co-worker named Teddy who was only about 5 years older than me. Teddy was from Eritrea 🇪🇷.
I'd never heard of Eritrea; However, I did know of Ethiopia 🇪🇹. These neighbours were at war with each other for MANY years.
Teddy was a former Eritrean Soldier who was enlisted for 6 years. He saw a lot of DEATH.
Teddy was a Gentleman. I mean, we both had employment as skilled manual ylaborers, but Teddy wasn't like everyone else. He was soft spoken, kind, fearless, and polite. I was glad to have become a friend of his. Obviously, he was a CHRISTIAN ✝.
Teddy married his best friends sister when they were both discharged from the Army. He and his wife had 4 daughters. He loved his Queen and his princesses. They lived in Jersey, but worshipped in a church in Harlem.
Teddy was the ONLY person who went inside of cage that the CRAZY Rottweiler lived in. Vicious!
Teddy fed and cared for the MANIAC dog. Everyone else was afraid; but not Teddy. And I too became friendly with the temperamental dog.
Teddy was a unique man, with great faith, great courage, and great love; Jesus Christ lived inside of Teddy's heart, and I knew that God's Holy Spirit was with Teddy.
As the years past, and I lost touch with Teddy, but his influence on me, and the impact he made on me never faded. I actually became more intrigued with the Eritrean Orthodox Church, and particularly the book of Enoch which was never removed from their Canon. In 2004, as Teddy had told me, Eritrea had approximately 5 million people, while Ethiopia had 50 million people.

It's sad to think of these two great countries warring.
I believe that is over now.
I want to say, that I understand the observations and awarenesses that SISTER Helen is pointing out. I see the same thing right here in America.
501c3 churches are the mainstream Christian form of worship here in 🇺🇸.
Churchianity is the norm.
Patriotism is weaved into the Christian doctrine. Nationalism, PRIDE. It's sad, and it's heresy; and it's prevalent!
My wife is from Brazil 🇧🇷, where they speak Portuguese. Here's a Portuguese expression from Brazil, about singing: "Quem Canta, seus males espanta." (When you sing, you shoo away the BAD/EVIL feelings.)

Praise the Lord for God's answering the Eriterians fervent prayers for freedom. Your testimony is the great proof that we Christians have the most powerful weapon, prayers. The Christians in the affluent comfortable nations lack prayers. The surpressed Christians have nothing but prayers. In the surpressed countries, prayer sessions are held every night till dawn. It's normal. Just like the ancient churches, prayers are the only means to plea to God.
