  • When I started landscape photography, I had to learn the hard way that the secret to creating stunning photographs is to not risk leaving it up to chance. If landscape photography is the source of your family's income, you can't just hop on a plane and hope for the best. You have to know exactly what photo you're going to take and when. Changing this habit is the first thing that I teach my students at Photography Academy because planning landscape photographs is the biggest difference between amateur and professional photographers. This tutorial will show you how to use Google Maps to find amazing photography locations. Use the reverse image search combined with the 3D feature in Google maps to locate the perfect location to take your own amazing photo.

That is an exciting image of the mountain side, filled with warm rock colours and verdant greens. I was drawn to the mountain online, and then looked to see how you made your visual choices and where you were photographing it. Beautiful!

Love this philosophy. Remember the 5 P's of Photography. (1) Planning (2) Provides (3) Perfect Place (4) Perfect Time (5) Perfect Shot

I love the Acratech head and Acratech leveling base combination. Pretty much replaced my Kirk BH-1 ball head.

For a tripod, I prefer a long Realy Right Stuff carbon fiber tripod. No center post. It's taller than I am, fully extended. I have back fractures from a slp and fall in Bryce Canyon. So, standing hunched over for hours with my Gitzo Traveller tripod was causing my back to give out.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your back, Glenn. I just returned from bryce. Beaufiul park. How did you fall?

@@Alexonfire1 Yes, there was new snow over ice. I was coming down a sleep grade. Almost went over the edge, which would have been fatal. Taught me how dangerous doing landscape photography alone can be. I fractured three thoracic vertebrae.

Thank you for the tutoring video, Tim. The picture is stunning. May I ask what app you used to study the sun direction? Thank you.

I was also wondering which app Tim used. Did you get an answer to that question? Thanks
