It’s really interesting what he said about Falco and his fans because that is completely what Boots Electric is like in real life. Approachable, genuine, and extremely good humored.
Jesse's got the vibe of a guy who's had to claw his way out to get what he has....he appreciates his life and spreads it's goodness everywhere...you want dudes like that to win at life 1st EODM in my top 10 rock albums all time...1st road album picked for sure
Erik Harker He pozed for photos with every single one of us in a concert, thanked us that we came then played some club music and smoked cigarretes until the other members came and started the show.
I saw that concert in San Antonio, and EODM were fucking terrible. Hughes is a moron and a loser- if he weren’t friends with Josh Homme he’d still be living at his mother’s house and working at Blockbuster.
We have watched over 100 Amoeba WIMB videos, almost always surprised and delighted, but this one is easily in the top five. Now Wife and I will check out the Eagles of Death Metal. Yeah, we never heard of them till now, but we are in our 60s and sold our souls to Bowie, Iggy Pop and Black Sabbath in 73, so what do you expect.
dude, why do you have to politicise everything? i commented on a video about music. come on, man. we can have that discussion if you want, but not in this context.
Met him before a show in Santa Cruz. The nicest guy you’ll ever meet. Came out and smoked a cigarette with the people who were waiting to get into the show 45 min before it started.
When i was like 13, i got to meet him and EODM om their bus and he gave me this rare QOTSA poster of a lady with a huge pubic hair beard. Such a nice man and i hope ill have another conversation one day now that im older
I was with him on this interview..he does give some of the best interviews in this buisness and can make some of the best times you ever had...or the worst...it depends on which way the ball bouncesbetter make sure it bounces the right way. These moments were some of the best times in my life either around the world or back at home the tour never stops ... its awesome.
Man, I don’t know if josh homme talks and has the same body language as Jesse or it’s the other way around. They are so similar is scary in the way they talk, look around and body language
he was a political writer for Sunny Bono before Josh talked him into getting into rock. Josh taught him how to play guitar and they started EODM. They came up with the name of the band in the parking lot at the Beer Hunter in Palm Desert.
He is surprisingly articulate. However, his upbeat manner is a result of amphetamine-induced hypomania. For that reason, he puts me on edge. I am afraid he is headed for a fall.
He has been that way from the getgo. Even when I helped him pick out his first amp VoxAC15/guitar, also gave him a few simple lessons/tips and took him to his first show where he opened for a guy that hilariously sounded like Morrissey, no shit. I wish I could recall that guys name, I don't think he plays music anymore, we nearly broke out in laughs but out of respect kept quiet for Morrissey jr's set and even encouraged him afterwards. So there you have it a real story not told til now.
+David Williams good shit. josh reckons they came up with the name when a friend was showing/playing em some bands music, and one of em said the band 'sounded like the eagles of death metal'.
Mega props for picking up Short Cuts. Always loved the stories of Raymond Carver. Their translation to film was way better than it had any right to be.
More articulate than 10 professional cultural critics put together. Maybe if he gets tired of being a rock dude, he could be a writer or public intellectual.
I love boots. One of the best performers and front men I've ever had the privilege to see. Great call on that Eddie Murphy single too. That song always gets the party rockin.
Of course Jesse is articulate, and a hell of a nice guy. Anyone that would allude to him heading for a fall need not worry, Rancho de la Luna is strong.
@@matthewburrows4359 I'm the most left-leaning person you will find but man, I'd feel bad even judging what Jesse said back then after what he went through. No doubt my whole world view would be shaken immediately after experiencing something like that. I doubt he still "hates Muslims" the same way nowadays.
I just watched 'Short Cuts' thanks to this guy. I appreciate how he disagrees with the conclusions of the film. He seems pretty cool and like another commenter mentioned, very articulate.
This video made me want to pick up an Eagles of Death Metal album. I've never heard a track of there's except what was featured here. But come Saturday ill be at my local record store to pick one up. Blind buy. I will support these chill ass dudes with my money.
of all these kind of videos i've seen this seems to be the only dude who knows his shit, not the biggest Eagles of Death Metal fan but i will surely listen to them more
lol. the government has guns already, guy. big guns and lots of them. so we need guns to be a force to be reckoned with. it's how the country started. the first battle of the Revolutionary War started when the British were coming to take our guns from our armory at Concord. A bunch of committeemen got in their way. with guns. and the war went from there. if the colonists let the British disarm them, the British would've governed them any way they like, with nothing to fear. so thank goodness for those strong, brave men who would not be ruled over. that's America.
I saw him in person at the Winter NAMM Show this year in Anaheim. He was queuing up at a steakhouse after a long day at the show, so I decided not to go up and tell him I recognised him like everyone else was. Still pretty cool though...
I'd like to recreate a comedy skit with the king of hipster artists who pick out the most funny an ridiculously obscure or weird items from the record store from a show like this and they talk about how much of an influence it was to them. Like picking out Kids Bop 83 on vinyl and the kids version of Britney Spears pops I did it again was such a musical revelation and all that...but the artist plays like death metal or thrash folk
It’s really interesting what he said about Falco and his fans because that is completely what Boots Electric is like in real life. Approachable, genuine, and extremely good humored.
He reminds me of Ned Flanders gone wild i love it
Brain Dead Oh my God! He does look like Ned Flanders gone wild! If Ned Flanders was in a Rock Band instead of an annoying Christian Neighbor!
Ned Flanders recovering from intravenous meth addiction
I was just gonna say, Ned Flanders goes outlaw MC.
Seems like he’s doing wayyyyyy better and that’s great to see.
True, my dude.
He’s worse than he’s ever been :(
@drumsBah Not true, my friend. Hes doing great.
Jesse's got the vibe of a guy who's had to claw his way out to get what he has....he appreciates his life and spreads it's goodness everywhere...you want dudes like that to win at life
1st EODM in my top 10 rock albums all time...1st road album picked for sure
I got a high five from this guy at a concert. Great show.
Erik Harker me too!
Erik Harker He pozed for photos with every single one of us in a concert, thanked us that we came then played some club music and smoked cigarretes until the other members came and started the show.
was that on his way past as he ran from gunfire and left his band to face it?
His take on Falco is spot on. So articulate.
I saw them open for Mastodon this May. They did a cover of David Bowie's Moonage Daydream. It was pretty dope.
Graham Kristensen same I saw them in toronto
If it was in Boston I smoked some weed with him outside lol
were you at the roseland theater in portland? that show was wild
Seen em in Vancouver, B.C. and they rocked that song, I have goosebumps thinking about it..
I saw that concert in San Antonio, and EODM were fucking terrible. Hughes is a moron and a loser- if he weren’t friends with Josh Homme he’d still be living at his mother’s house and working at Blockbuster.

i'm glad he's alive, he brings good vibes to this world.
Muslim van??? they are converting our vehicles now??? WHATS NEXT!??!?!?
thenoodleshop man don't you just hate it when people are individuals and have different political views from you???
dude, why do you have to politicise everything? i commented on a video about music. come on, man. we can have that discussion if you want, but not in this context.
thenoodleshop I mean considering he was attacked by them. I could see why he wouldn't like them. But still it's an extremely stupid thing to support.
I'm glad you're alive too, your comment brings good vibes to the world!
Saw them with Mastodon, and almost immediately regretted never checking them out before this year. Great band, one absolute monster of a live show!
Gave him the peace fingers when he was onstage in Rochester NY ..he gave them back ✌🏻️
Jesse Hughes is a genius & you can tell by how he speaks.🧠
Love this guy, love his group.... real down to earth
FINALLY! Boots Electric at the world's best record store. Loved it.
Such a chill dude. Would love seeing one with Josh Homme or Jon Theodore.
or Troy Van Leeuwen! Anyone from the queens of the stone age bunch
or NICK.
^^^ is the current year 2004??? must not be a very big queens fan, ya clueless
haha, they're my favorite band. what do you think i'm clueless? i'd still want to see them interview him. and i dream of him being in the band again.
APAL880 yes and Joey..nothing against Jon but Joey kicked ass,no one does songs for the deaf better on drums..not even Dave!!
"Somebody else might like it, and it could get you laid."
I can't hate on the logic. 👍😁
he seems like such a nice guy, loved this.
Yeah I was talking to him a couple of weeks back and he was so nice and humble and really funny
Met him before a show in Santa Cruz. The nicest guy you’ll ever meet. Came out and smoked a cigarette with the people who were waiting to get into the show 45 min before it started.

He really does. It's so hard to imagine the horrible things he's seen
Amoeba have seriously been getting the best bands on this show recently. Maaaad props
Thanks!
Remarkably well spoken individual.

Man, I don’t know if josh homme talks and has the same body language as Jesse or it’s the other way around. They are so similar is scary in the way they talk, look around and body language
I want to hang out with this guy, talking about music and movies. This was a fantastic interview.
Holy fuck Jesse is articulate.
he was a political writer for Sunny Bono before Josh talked him into getting into rock. Josh taught him how to play guitar and they started EODM. They came up with the name of the band in the parking lot at the Beer Hunter in Palm Desert.

+Zachariah Z.
Someone's standard for articulateness seems to hang rather low. "Holy shit" - were you raised in a barrel?
+David Williams good shit. josh reckons they came up with the name when a friend was showing/playing em some bands music, and one of em said the band 'sounded like the eagles of death metal'.
So, so awesome. Saw Jesse w/ EODM here in Spokane; such fun and a perfect distraction from everything happening. Jesse; come back soon!
Cherry Cola is the greatest song of all time! And the Save A Prayer cover is phenomenal! Long live Eagles of Death Metal!
Eagle of Death Metal Fuuuuck yes!
That's a funny way to spell "I only want you".
Odowla I love that song!!! Especially the part when he’s like “I’m not the lover man that you want me to be”
"I know that it's terribly cruel but then I like it"
skin tight boogie ftw! lol
Mega props for picking up Short Cuts. Always loved the stories of Raymond Carver. Their translation to film was way better than it had any right to be.
Damn! He's so chill and sweet!
This guy was pretty hilarious! Even talks about Lee Meriwether being in his teenage spank bank
Loved his joking around with the crew
More articulate than 10 professional cultural critics put together. Maybe if he gets tired of being a rock dude, he could be a writer or public intellectual.
He is indeed extremely intelligent and charismatic. So refreshing, considering what artists nowadays show us 😬
Wow... OK so I'm blown away by the Falco pick. I'm not really into Rockabilly but I think I'll give these guys a strong listen.
I gotta say that “Rock Me Amadeus” is one hell of a catchy song! Falco is definitely criminally underrated!
RIP Falco
Matthäus Jandl,für michfliegt der Falke ewig!Obwohl seine Gebeine bei Supermax beerdigt sind!
I love boots. One of the best performers and front men I've ever had the privilege to see. Great call on that Eddie Murphy single too. That song always gets the party rockin.

I love "Party All The Time".
People slate it, but I think it's great. Just reminds me of the 80s and that can only ever be a good thing!
I hung with Jesse and the band after a show just 6 or 7 weeks before Paris. That was a shake up but he was a really cool, mellow dude.
For someone who hates Muslims, yea he is great.
@@matthewburrows4359 I'm the most left-leaning person you will find but man, I'd feel bad even judging what Jesse said back then after what he went through. I just watched 'Short Cuts' thanks to this guy. I appreciate how he disagrees with the conclusions of the film. He seems pretty cool and like another commenter mentioned, very articulate.
This was way better then I somehow imagined
Dudes the nicest rockstar ever
Omgootness, this guy is brilliant! And I love JD Mcpherson! absolutely sincere and beautiful
This dude seems super rad
What a guy! HE is entertaining and adorable.
What a wonderful, articulate, poetic soul ❤
This video made me want to pick up an Eagles of Death Metal album. I've never heard a track of there's except what was featured here. But come Saturday ill be at my local record store to pick one up. Blind buy. I will support these chill ass dudes with my money.
Dye-no-mite just went up in price
party all the time is one of the greatest videos of all time
What a cool dude.
I love the Eagles of Death Metal
One of the most coherent reviews of a movie ever. I likevthis guy
of all these kind of videos i've seen this seems to be the only dude who knows his shit, not the biggest Eagles of Death Metal fan but i will surely listen to them more
Boots is America's sweetheart.
NRA'S sweetheart more like
supergangsterish1 only a strong people is a free people. also, way to bring up politics you bore.
nothing's strong about carrying/ using gun, it's strong to resist resorting to the easy option
lol. the government has guns already, guy. big guns and lots of them. so we need guns to be a force to be reckoned with. it's how the country started. the first battle of the Revolutionary War started when the British were coming to take our guns from our armory at Concord. He's so funny. Look what he's buyin'! You gotta love 'im!
I swear this guy has an IQ of 180+ Very sweet and very badass. An amazing combination.
BEST EVER!!! Long live Jesse Hughes!!! 🙌🏼❤️🤘🏼
Learned so much in this one! Thanks Jesse!!
This one is so good!
I love this guy. We smoked a jay with him in Tucson. He is such a positive person. Thanks Boots fun times!
You know, he definitely isn't a perfect man but he seems very chill and fun to be around.
I don’t like Eagles of death metal but after seeing this I absolutely love this man
Jesse has great style! Thanks Amoeba, didn't see this one coming! Josh Homme next?
We hope to make it happen. That would be great!
The way he describes things is always so abstract but so pitch perfect
goodness Boots has so much wisdom and insight, a rock n roll wizard for sure!
That whole DIY series Rhino did is great. Good choice
He's spot on about JD McPherson. For people claiming there isn't good rock-n-roll being made, JD dispels that as untrue
this guy is amazing
This was a REALLY good 'Whats In My Bag", Jesse and I would get along well.
Love this rock star
'Party All the Time' bumps. It became such a silly pop phenomenon ppl forget how big the sound is
I too had a Jimmy Walker Doll... Keep on keeping on...
This is the best installment I've seen yet
Great taste, party all the time and falco are treasures
Aw hell yeah
Aw hell yeah
He has great hair.
That was E X T R E M E L Y entertaining! Thanks!
i wish he was my neighbour
he was mine for 4years 94-98 - good times.
yeahhhh falco!!!! shout out :) :) :)
Falco was awesome had the album and the formats of the single
Im at the area where Falco was born in Vienna. Right now!!!
Good to see that you can once again put a quarter in Jesse and this stuff comes out.
Glad somebody else likes JD McPherson
He’s so sweet
Catwoman was my first lust in life as well, nice!
I like that he insinuates that The Clash are phonies while Falco is the real deal to him. That could quite contentious in some circles.
You hear old English punks say The Clash were phonies from day dot. I don't believe that but everyone has their opinion
love the arrested development reference
Shades come off, eyes go wild.
this was a really good episode of w.i.m.b.
Amazing to see he's so into Falco. I was obsessed with Falco in my teens, and it felt like a lonely place to be!
He is the best!!
That was fun! And now I'm curious of what Josh Homme would have in his bag!
It's time to bring Josh Homme to the show also.
Holy shit i could listen for hours
I saw him in person at the Winter NAMM Show this year in Anaheim. He was queuing up at a steakhouse after a long day at the show, so I decided not to go up and tell him I recognised him like everyone else was. Still pretty cool though...
i love short cuts
That was lovely!
Love Jesse Hughes!❤
Nice shout out to JD McPherson. Same.
Some great rock, pop culture commentary here. Thanks!
Don’t know any of their music but dude seems really cool! Love this series
Jesse lives next door to me and borrowed Tom Waits albums from me. Funny to see this. 😆. Life is rad
The one song featured Reminds me of Dave Edmonds "There Was Something About You" Like all the picks!
I'd like to recreate a comedy skit with the king of hipster artists who pick out the most funny an ridiculously obscure or weird items from the record store from a show like this and they talk about how much of an influence it was to them. Like picking out Kids Bop 83 on vinyl and the kids version of Britney Spears pops I did it again was such a musical revelation and all that...but the artist plays like death metal or thrash folk
awesome knowledge about everything. Nice way of just talking!
