Erin Furminsky on Ceramics ARts Daily channel did a good video on making your own underglaze transfer using mason stain. It's not hard when you get the hang of it.
Very beautiful! Very Beautiful! Love the combo's. Do you have a list of mason stains you use? What kind of sprayer do you use? Where do you sell your stuff at? I'd love one with mountains.
Hey Kyle, thanks for your videos! Question about sodium silicate powder: are you brushing powder onto the shelves or brushing a wet mixture of sodium silicate? Love your creativity
I think I cover it in the "Bourbon Bowls" video. But it's pretty simple. Dry up porcelain, soak it in water, blend with hand mixer, weight out a portion of slip, say 1000 grams, then mix in mason stain. For reds I use 20% weight. So it would be 200 grams.
When you add porcelain slip to stoneware clay do you have to make sure it’s all the same shrinkage rate? I handbuild and just got my first wheel but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone add porcelain slip to stoneware. Thanks so much for this video. Trimarooni is an awesome word! Haha. If you cut small slits in the transfer towards the bottom it will bend a bit more. You have amazing success with the transfers. These look awesome.
So ready for this. Don't you dare stop talking to yourself.
Love your laid back humour.

Glad you liked it!
Love your technique. They look really cool.
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your work. Love your voice. I use a sponge to press on the transfers. Keep on teaching us! ¡Gracias from Puerto Rico!

Just dry sodium silicate on the shelf. I sprinkle it on with a screen sieve. Like one you would use for flour.
Smooth video
Hi kyle, what UA-cam video do you show how to make coloured slips please

How did you come up with this idea. It’s really cool 👍. I like that you add a little image on the bottom of your pieces. It’s got great personality
Where can I by one of your bourbon bowls? Fantastic!

@@KyleDarnellArt So why do you use the porcelain instead of just the stoneware clay? Does it have grog in it?
@@micheledickey4066porcelain does not have grog in it.
Does it matter how hot the transfers are fired at? I should keep watching maybe you’ll say soon ✌️
I only low fire. Cone 04. Everything comes out great, including transfers.
nice
I have found that when I "burnish" with a red rib, it blurs the transfer. What am I doing wrong?
@@KyleDarnellArt Thanks! I'll keep trying.
Do you make your transfers?
❤❤❤❤😄😄😄
I dip my pots into melted wax, fast and even
