  • How to Tie the Falconer's Knot - Tying a Knot with One Hand
    The Falconer's Knot is not really the name of the resulting knot, but the way in which it is tied. The problem is that when a bird is sat on one hand, you really need a knot that can be tied just with the other hand. So this rather ingenious solution came about, when a noose knot that is slipped can be tied with one hand.
    Just because it is called the Falconer's Knot, does not mean that it should only be used to tether a Falcon. There may be a time where you do need to tie a knot with one hand, so maybe it is worth taking a look at the Falconer's Knot.
    Slipped Noose Knot that is quick tie and quick release. If you are worried about the knot being tripped accidentally, you can pass the working end back down the final bight, to prevent it from tripping.

    I love this stuff. All the uses, and lore of these knots. I have always had a fascination with cordage, knots, and knot tying, and was overjoyed when you started making new videos. Thanks ever so much for what you do, and for taking the time to do it. It is appreciated. I will say I do miss the 'chat', but get that you may not have time. Again thank you.

      I have the time to chat, but there were many requests for this type of video. Don't worry that chat and banter will be back again in some videos. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.

    why do they call it a falconers knot? :-P

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  3 роки тому +1

      Because it can be tied with one hand, whilst the other one is wrestling with a Falcon 😉 😉 😉 It is really the action of tying this knot, rather than the name of the knot itself.

      If you watch closely a falconer- video you will notice a rope on the falcons foot.
      As soon as the falcon landed on the glove it will be pinched by the thumb and the middlefinger, which blocks one hand completely.
      No, I'm not a falconer, but there is one nearby and sometimes I can see his training.
