I was trying so hard to listen to you talking about the bulbs in the beginning, however Benjamin stole my attention and made me laugh too much when he was hitting the arborvitae hedge. It looked like he looked towards you to make sure you weren't watching too 🤣 He is such a sweet boy 💕

He is a VERY sweet boy, and kids will be kids! I also was laughing when watching him behind her. There is an age when kids will do many things to get a parent’s attention. I remember so well when I was on a phone conversation and both my kids tried the same tactic (they are 14 years apart-lol) of being as loud and disruptive as possible! I don’t enjoy long phone conversations so it didn’t matter how long I’d been on the phone, 2 minutes or 10!!

@@sharonwright66 I have good news, and I have bad news. Good news is I understand your problem because here in central Florida fire ants can be a real problem, and I had a ton of them when we moved in. Bad news is the only solution I have ever had work for me is very long term, and it took about 4 years before they were all gone. What I did was remove all of the non-native plants that were in my yard (we have about an acre.) I then focused on putting native plants in, which attracted native insect and pollinators, and they took care of the ant problem for me - without any chemicals. I know I sound like a crazy woman - but I had tried numerous chemicals, and they always came back. (I drew the line at setting the colonies on fire, which I think my husband would have enjoyed.) I spent a lot of time researching, asking questions at different nurseries, and lots of trial and error. I live in one of those neighborhoods where all of the yards are acres of pristine grass....and then there's my yard. I am replacing the grass with sunshine mimosa, a native ground cover that can be walked on, or driven on, survive drought and requires no watering after it's established. It also never needs mowing. All the places I've put that ground cover in, I have zero fire ants. Zero. So good luck, happy gardening, and I feel your pain. :)

@@malliemargaret2895 thank you so much for the info. I think my neighbors may run me out of town with burning torches if I change the required Bermuda grass (hate it) for a native plant for the lawn. But I will look into some natural insects and plants that may deter them. Thanks!

HOW PERFECT! I have planting tulips on my agenda for this morning. (very small scale of course) Ibam concerned as we have very bothersome squirrels and I feel I need to lay chicken wire over them. Do you think the openings will be large enough for the bulbs to grow through? This project has much sentimental value so I hate for them to be eaten...they are a Susan G. Komen set of pink tulips in memory of my aunt who lost her battle with breast cancer. I will probably cry the whole time that I am digging holes. Gardening has always been my therapy. Thank you for helping so many others find there love in gardening!

I have tulip and daffodil bulbs planted in the same garden as my peonies, and I put down chicken wire to deter the squirrels and neighborhood cats. As soon as I see about an inch of growth in the spring, I remove the chicken wire. I don't usually see much squirrel activity after that, but once I cut things back in the fall, I put the chicken wire back on for the winter. That has been working well for me.

I have a lot of squirrels that ate my bulbs, I covered them with chicken wire and the tulips came through just fine. "That's weird! I don't know how it got there. It must be Maggie Magic."
    OMG! Too stinking adorable! 🥰
Thank you for the continued inspiration GA! I only planted 350 bulbs this fall. But compared to my 36 total last year, it was a much bigger job. Lol! Can't wait for spring! 😊

Wow! Before watching this I felt ambitious planting 300 this weekend. Now I really can’t wait for spring. Your displays of spring bulbs are going to be so beautiful. Thanks for the tip on the power planter. I’ve hand dug in the past. Can’t believe how much faster the process went with an auger.

Thank you for planting for us Laura. It’s so inspiring.

☕ Just finished making my coffee, son is still asleep, get to sit & watch GA! 🙌😁 I just recieved my tulips yesterday! 👏 That was the last of the bulbs I was waiting waiting for! I ordered a couple 1000 this year! Some are for the Flower Farm, but a lot are just for my landscape!

I’m so eager to see how things look next Spring! Your previous few years of bulb displays inspired me to go for it in my own yard this year. I placed a massive order of 4500 bulbs (ekkk!) and I have been slowly chipping away at the crates and getting them in the ground over the past few weeks with the help of my trusty power planter auger. So, thank you for the inspiration and the invaluable tips on making the process manageable! Your channel is a gem!

Laura, you are a doll!!! The green belt y'all designed is just BEAUTIFUL! The foresight used in planning is breathtaking.
And Benjamin is quite the helper.
Though, I will admit, after hearing you say you augered the first100 holes, my mind temporarily went blank. 😄 Had to regroup.
Aaron's skill at making the final cut putting the vids together is amazing. You planting at 90 mph is
adrenal raising & entertaining all at once. Your AMBITION keeps my own imagination & productivity going. Y'all are the peak of INSPIRATION for us viewers.
THANK YOU for the JOY you bring us!!!

It really is great to see you including Benjamin in the gardening projects and especially encouraging him with positive comments, eventually when he grows up he will be a confident pro gardener and be able to help you out hugely! Especially with the end rest of your garden in the years to come which will certainly need it. I know when I was younger I didn’t receive the nicest comments when I had my interest in the garden! Can’t wait to see the garden next season!

Ok, I am sure you have been asked this question a 100 times. How do you keep track of what you planted? So if you want to put another shrub, flowers etc you do not run into the bulbs? Also can you plant things like annuals on top of them that do not go as deep into the ground? I am heading out today to plant as well as it is 66 today here in CT. This is my second season of beginner gardening and to say I am hooked is an understatement. Thank you for the peace that gardening has giving me in my hectic life.

I'm just as excited for your spring bulb display as I am for my own garden! I planted 150 spring green tulips, which according to Sara Raven will naturalize and come back every year. I've spent a small fortune over the years on tulips that usually last just one year.
