Good News for Sectors 77, 78,79,79A as a patch which connects SPR to these sectors is going to complete by 30 th April, 2024.
Commuters in new sectors are facing a tough time as the construction of a 3.4km road has been lying incomplete for the past six years. Now, the GMDA has set yet another deadline for the same.
The project aims to provide direct connectivity for newly developed sectors 77, 78, 79 and 79 A to the Southern Peripheral Road and was supposed to be completed by 2019.
However, the metropolitan authority, so far, has not been able to finish the task.
Now, the GMDA has committed to a fresh deadline of completing the work by April 30. Once completed, the master road will connect Naurangpur to the Southern Peripheral Road covering these sectors, which house half a dozen societies in which around 10,000 people call home.
The road’s revamp was first proposed in 2016. In April 2018, the road was transferred to GMDA, which allotted a tender for the project in December 2018 at a cost of Rs 18.9 crore.
Earlier, the GMDA officials had claimed work would be completed by July 2023, but later further pushed the deadline to the end of 2023. The project has till now been transferred to three different GMDA executive engineers.
With 75% of the work completed so far, GMDA officials said that they will be able to complete the work within three months.
