Extremely helpful video! I have a 780 at work that stuck me with this BS yesterday after a restart. Spent all day on the line with tech support in my company and no one had a clue. Watched your video and 20 minutes later I restarted back into Windows and was back to work. Thank you!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! :) I bought a mix of 15 755's and 745's and I've been trying to install Lubuntu on them but I couldn't figure out why the password wasn't disabled when I pulled out the CMOS Battery. :) I had to rewatch the video and then it worked! Thank you again my friend now I'm one step closer to my Render Farm! :)
Hey there, I've got a dell optiplex 9020, I got given it by my school, I did all this but then it says "Password changed are currently blocked. Please check the password jumper." Can you please help
excellent video. I was mysteriously locked out of my OptiPlex 780 computer. When I would boot up, it would ask me for a system password even though I never set a system password. I gave the instructions on this video a try and I was able to log on to my account. I was ready to replace the hard drive but that wouldn't have worked if I did. I guess I had to remove the cmos jumper (I hope that's what it's called).
Bro need help, I have dell optiplex 780, I want access bios but bios requires password and removing pswd1 jumper doesn't help and there is no password set in system sequirty and I cant boot my system due to some problems that can be fixed via bios plz help
This worked like a charm for me on my two Dell Optiplex 360s! :D Just remove the jumper, boot (& go to bios) once, and put the jumper back in. :D It even said "password removed"!
Dude thank you so much please people get him to a million subs omg your a life saverrr as man thank you so so much I was literally having a mental breakdown thank you!
how do i change the system password? or is it necessary to even have a password? i bought a dell computer from a thrift store and it boots up with a black screen asking for system password.
I have a Dell vostro 230. And I cant change anything in bios because it says supervisor password is set and its locked. I dont know that password and so how can i remove or reset supervisor password?
Hey man I have a dell optiplex 760 that was working fine until my nephew tampered with it..now it won't load Windows. Asking for Hard disk password which I don't have 😞 The crazy thing is that it doesn't have any jumpers on the board. Can you please help me out?..
i did all that and changed the admin password and now it goes to a black screen asking for admin password but when i type it in it wont do it like my key board is locked
I am currently using a Dell Latitude E7270 and while trying to download/update needed driver for Bluetooth functionality, it asks for the admin password... I don't want to necessarily take anything apart just in case the process (and it most likely is) different than your video, being that you showed how to reset the BIOS admin pw with a desktop... Any help would be very much so appreciated.
hi..I'm using optiplex 755 and and when I try to install win 10 its showing "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer may not support booting yo this disk.Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu" at the time of partition.I tried resetting the bios but its still showing the same error. Can u please suggest a way to avoid this. Waiting for u r rply :)
bro my problem is that when i click to open the bios setup it says set a password and when i do type ''admin'' after it tells to set a new password and when i do it says password not set, what can i do (sorry for my bad english )
Hello; I have an unmodified Optiplex 3010, following Dell's official instructions. Confusing; it says to remove the password jumper, and put it on the CMOS pins. There is no "remove the CMOS jumper" and there is also "turn on the system for 10 seconds prior to replacing the PSWD jumper. There is also the motherboard's simple "1-2 Clear" "2-3 Default" which is confusing when taken with Dell's instruction. How to go about?
***** If you open the cover to your Optiplex....look for the SATA cable connections on the motherboard (these look like an "L" and connect your hard drive and optical drive). There should be several colors (blue, white, etc). You should see your blue-colored Jumper near there...it might also be labeled PSWD1 (or something similar). This is what you want to remove. Let me know if you have any luck.
i've got an Optiplex 760 that I picked up from an auction, that I've had windows and even MacOSX running on, but I am unable to make any changes to the BIOS. I can get to the bios and scroll down though everything, but to make a change nothing happens. the mouse pointer is locked in the middle of the screen, when you hit enter or an arrow key nothing happens. I am running BIOS A16. The system is locked into starting from something other than the HD, so I have to got though the F12 to choose the hd. I've removed the Jumper and the CMOS, then replaced, and no joy. there are no passwords either. is there a trick to getting from the menu on the left to what you want to change??
+Tim Reisinger I've replaced the motherboard, thinking that maybe there was something wrong with it, and I am still not able to make any changes to the BIOS. it boots fine and now even boots straight to the HD, when it didn't before, but I am stuck at ATA setting where I would like to be able to change to AHCI or Legacy for booting into OSX. I can't even change the time or anything. with this BIOS are you able to use a mouse?? the cursor/arrow just sits in the middle of the screen
If remove password jumper per your superb video do I have to reload operating system which I do not have and absolutely cannot lose years of info. Have an old Dell Optiplex 980 reconfigured for Windows 10. I am an old lady but semi computer savvy- altho not obvious by my question! HELP! Thanks. Panicked to say the least!
There are several factors in recovering passwords. One resource I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Cunning Code Formula (check it out on google) without a doubt the best course i've seen. Check out this great website. the best success that I have had was by following the Cunning code formula (just google it) definately the best course i've tried. I have spent months studying password recovery techniques and found an awesome website at Cunning Code Formula (check it out on google)
I forgot to mention there isn't a disk that I dont have. I have every disk for every computer. And they work on every computer and none of them has ever malfunctioned. This computer can't be done by disk. Not even the factory disk that that is made for it. The original boot disk was taped to the inside. The moment a disk is in contact with my PC it displays no boot device
I just got this dell 740 mini tower. I`ve done some upgrades. When I got it it had vista on it. Useless and I couldn`t even update the browser. I had a bigger 160gb hard drive with windows 7. Swapped them out and I`m up and running very well. Problem is I have no admin control. I need to update the bios to get the full effect. If I remove the hard drive and put the old one back in will I be able to update the bios without having to do a re-install when I change the hard drive back? Or will the old visya system keep me from updating the bios?
A BIOS password is set in bios - it is not impacted by the hard drive. The only password impacted by the hard drive would be your Windows Login password. You will need the BIOS or Admin password to make changes in BIOS or use the video to remove it.
+shadrick iraharira If I understand the question correctly, the BIOS password can only be either on or off. There's no option to set it to a certain boot order. Hope that helps!

how do i change the system password? or is it necessary to even have a password? i bought a dell computer from a thrift store and it boots up with a black screen asking for system password.
@Cross Bone: You probably need to remove what's called the CMOS battery - what's the make/model of the computer you are having trouble with?
I have a Dell vostro 230. And I cant change anything in bios because it says supervisor password is set and its locked. I dont know that password and so how can i remove or reset supervisor password?

How to get regular bios on dell 760?
Hi, after removing the jumper. Do I ever return it to the board?
After you change or remove the password, you can replace the jumper. It should no longer have an effect on the computer
when I removed the jumper the system setting says I can't change anything without the jumper in..I have dimension 9200
dell vostor-3468 i froget hdd-0 i have no idea what to do
What about the internal HDD password?
Is this service also useful?
I tried to do it and I could not.
Can i back this blue thing after install new system?
