Wow thank you for your words. Yeah I try to capture the essence of the orisha, personality and match with the time of the visuals and song. So elegua song is humor, my chango video is a mixture, and finally my babaluaye video will be mostly serious throughout to tell the story of how he became the iconic, sickly looking orisha we know him as. And yeah my strongest connection is with elegua, but I find that as I write the next song and work on the next music video, i fell my connection with that orisha to be strengthened, cuz all day I'm singing, rehearsing the lucumi, dressing like him for the video, thinking of their movements, personalities etc...so I've gained a new awe for chango and babalu aye as I goe through the music video creating process.

Well mr lion maze...unfortunately a direct translation I dont have. A lot of lucumi is passed down and the translations lost to time. But here's a very rough summary... Ebwa echu alaguana ni koko ri biya...bara ten tonu maneku maneku ndolu...iku iyelede...bara ki elu echu afra...alagom ago alamu bata Echu alaguana and echu afra are both paths of elegua. Echu afra I know walks with babalu aye. I believe alaguana walks with ogun. Iku means death Alago means owner of the opening since he opens all paths Bata are the drums played to orisha It's not much to go on but it's something. It's a traditional prayer indeed and can be spoken to your own elegua before you sing to him.It's just praising and giving honor to elegua. Echu alaguana and echu afra are both paths of elegua. Echu afra I know walks with babalu aye. I believe alaguana walks with ogun.
Iku means death
Alago means owner of the opening since he opens all paths
Bata are the drums played to orisha
It's not much to go on but it's something. It's a traditional prayer indeed and can be spoken to your own elegua before you sing to him.It's just praising and giving honor to elegua. Hope this helps you on your orisha journey, Ache Lion Maze, Ache!
