So many thoughtful details in this build! I'd be very proud. Operation and maintenance are going to be much easier due to refinements you've incorporated. The Black and Red scheme looks fantastic (Rock and Roll). Am seriously interested in the Apex conversion engines. Seems like best power : weight option available. Congratulations and thanks for the inspiration.
Saw you fly over the house 1/26/21 first thing I noticed is how bright your lights were. Definitely a unique sound you were following I 85 probably around 60kts or so.
Very cool. Speaking of gap seals.... that huge gap between the fuselage and the inboard flap section ? That is a high pressure area, lots of leakage going on there, and big gains to be had if it could be reduced.
What paint was used on the bottom? I’m considering Oratex for my restoration project but can’t seem to find anything on people painting Oratex with anything other than their own in-house stuff.
Check out @ExperimentalAircraftChannel - one of the “Engine Week” videos from a few weeks ago is an interview with Thomas; owner of Edge Performance; the builder of those engines. He discusses this in detail.
The ECU is dual mapped. Beast mode is for competition, and cuts down on turbo lag. Steve Henry got the 1st "2nd gen" EPEX engine, after initially competing in STOL Drag (in 2019) w/ the original non-dual map'd ECU....he didn't like the turbo lag on it, so Edge Performance did the fix/revision.
Awesome Plane. Wow instead of buying another house, i think i will buy a plane. lol And finish up with my private license. This build looks like $250,000+ ?

Chris, you are by far one of the best builders out there. I suggest you add to your channel contact information for your business.
Very nice job. Exceptionally clean workmanship.
That's such a clean, gorgeous plane.
Beautifully finish aircraft. Kudos.

That is one beautiful Highlander. Amazing Job!
Love rudder and tail details. Nice toy lol
Neat and simple ! Superb plane! Seams perfect
Awesome build!
That's an amazing job!!! Great work!!!
That is one beautiful aircraft!
I have a serious case of airplane envy. Very nice job.
That’s clean! How wide is the cabin shoulder wise door to door?
What is the cruise going to be on this plane with that engine ?
Clean! I want one! Brilliant! Cheers mates!!
THAT IS BEAUTIFUL, JUST WHAT I WANT TO BUILD!!!!! HOW MUCH SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND???????
Outstanding aircraft thanks for sharing. :o)
A very, very, nice build. Going to have to keep an eye on this one.
Airshow special,300hp turbo 1 litre is pushing reliability, sick unit either way
Why the Highlander over the super stol?
Wow that looks incredible.

A bunch of people have closed that up. I have as well and haven't noticed any difference in performance.
Nice job, that's a cracking result; almost a shame to get it dirty!

Nice side baggage door.
Can’t wait to do a project like this one
Nice plane! I’d love to go up in it!
Nice work! but let’s talk about the elephant in the room - that massive exhaust :)
What is your useful load on this plane?? And fuel burn and tbo on the apex??
Beautiful.
I would think you’ll end up putting in an alternate static with all the prop wash right on the boot cowl.
Awesome build tho. Very clean.
That location has worked in the past but ya we will see with the added power.
they are on the same place in a 172 also the rear static ports for the autopilot
At 300hp what is the expected life or reliability of the engine

and which propeller else can use on this engine ?
Nice work, blessings. I hope to see it fly
VERY Nice plane.
Inspiring 🍀nice windshield
Very nice!
Chris nice job
Beautiful !!
Great video and awesome work on the plane! What size propeller did you install?
Pretty airplane . which propeller is it?
Where do you get the extreme windshield?
What was the empty weight?
860lbs
@@wallenaircraftllc9153 excellent work. Thanks for sharing.
nice bird!!! 👍
Beautiful
Sick looking!
Very Very Nice!
Wow, I thought the oratex was already painted, but you talked about urethane over the top
Awesome! No rib stitching? I see some using oratex that do and some that don’t.
The fabric is installed with rivets rather than stitching.
@@wallenaircraftllc9153 approx how many yards of oratex was used? thanks
@@lgrgg86 about 36 meters
What does the "Beast Mode" switch do?
I think it switches engine power between 300hp (Beast) and 150hp (Eco).
@@f2air is that like some kind of waste gate control?

Please do a video about the engine! I'm not sure 300HP is adequate, can you install a 400HP?
add more boost. 700hp is possible but longevity isn't great. 500hp is nothing spectacular.
Nice... and lets see it perform?
What's the cruise speed gonna be?
100mph
What switches did you use in the panel?
Just toggle switches from aircraft spruce with dust covers on them
Chris I feel like you need to build me a plane
Bad ass!
CAN’T WAIT!!!
Pretty airplane
How many hours on this build?
About 500-550
Yes please🔥
Awesome build. What is the Beast Mode switch all about? :o)

Wow, amazing machine!!! How does it perform?
Test flights coming soon.
Just wow
Good job on the build there sir! Im doing a build mostly the same as this. If you have the 300 hp. Yammi then its the Epex?
That is correct
I think you need more sag in the shocks...
That is the exact setup that I want to build. Sweet! Did you Build this or buy it from Steve Henry?
Wallen built it. He got the header tank from Steve though.
Ulitimate c tease! No flying clips lol
I’m in love 😍
Audio is not loud enough.
Seems so within reach yet so far away…
Waste of time power plant for sure
