Hi Caroline I totally get you with the care home email. We lost our beautiful 8 year old daughter in November. When i have a bad day i find myself scrolling on her school website/Facebook page. I guess its connection i crave. Plus a feeling that she hasn't been forgotten. But then when i saw her class had planted apple trees in her memory i was broken. Grief is a journey and I go with it, Keep busy as much as i can and sob my heart out when i need to. What else can you do?!? Much love to you and thank you for your grief updates. Xx

I am a dog and cat lover. My dog has been trained to refuse food offered by strangers.,hopefully it will prevent him being given something that would be bad for him.
Tenby is Dog Kingdom in the summer and so many different breeds walking around, on leads of course. I actually love it.
It's a shame receiving something ordered online which is unsatisfactory when, being vacuum packed, would be hard to return.

I have to agree that some doggie owners are just not aware that some of us are nervous and not comfortable around dogs. I use Laura Geller for light coverage days, I have had mine for year's
Thank you Caroline for your rant...I do not feel comfortable around dogs and that makes me a " bad person " in the opinion of most dog owners.
I agree more dogs are now going into shops, I saw 2 in Tescos the other day, of course helper dogs have always been welcome but if everyone starts to take dogs into grocery stores, restaurants etc it’s going to be dreadful.
I’ve used the Laura Gellar and I love the texture and coverage but I cannot get the right shade, the color doesn’t seem to be consistent from compact to compact. One time it will be light and one time it will be dark or orange. I look forward to your opinion of it.
How beautiful by the sea! You’re so lucky. Im a crazy cat lady and never saw myself as a dog person. However, since my daughter has had her little dog I’m definitely now a dog fan. I think i needed to know snd love a dog in order to appreciate them! Having said that, i do think dog owners need to be careful with dogs off the lead and behaving well in shops. My daughter’s dog gets a bit silly sometimes so shes careful where she takes her. People have to be responsible. Lovely video thanks Caroline.

Lovely vlog as always. You look lovely and summery in your yellow dress. I'm a dog person although I don't own one now, I dog sit for my daughters. It's a difficult subject, because for me the more places/shops that allow dogs, the better. Having said that, Quite a few people owning dogs need training themselves. I always say that in most cases people blame the wrong end of the lead. The shop incident should never have happened, if one of our dogs spit something out, it would have been quickly cleaned up. And now I'm now off to put my washing in the dishwasher...!! 😅😅 that was so funny! xx
Hi Caroline, I have to join in with the dog debate, I am a dog person, I adore them, I take mine out all the time but I really do get that not everyone likes dogs, I keep mine with me and under control, I clean up their mess and am very responsible, it’s only fair to my dogs, then everyone is happy. However one of my dogs is scared of people and I get frustrated at the number of them that march up and go to stroke him, when I say please don’t touch him and explain why, they take it as a challenge ‘all dogs love me’ etc. Finally I’m very glad more restaurants have doggy areas so we can eat out in nice places on holiday, my two are trained to lay under the table and chill, people often don’t realise they are there until we leave. I do stand up for respect and responsibility, everyone should be able to relax, those that have dogs and those that want to go about their business dog free. Sorry, I’ve had a rant now haven’t I?? Thanks for another great vlog, I love your content!! Xx
That’s awful about people coming up to your dog even though you’ve told them he’s nervous, just as bad as the people who let their dogs run up to others. Thr more I think about, the more obvious it becomes that the people are the problem, not the dogs!

My mum was in hospice for a short time before her death and like you we as a family were invited to continue contact with them after she died. Like you I found it almost too sad but I used it as a crutch if you like for a year or so and then quietly cut contact. To stay in touch felt like i couldn't move past the sadness. I think grief is not one size fits all. Enjoyed your vlog as always.

I have tried the Laura Geller powder foundation and am not a fan although I do love the Bare Minerals powder foundation I’m 61 and I find it flattering on my skin. I love those gadgets that you hang your handbag from they are so handy, I usually get mine in the ALE-HOP in Spain. Have a fab holiday xx
Keeping using your Laura Gellar. It took a bit for me to get use to it but i really love it now. I've nearly stopped using a liquid & cream foundation, lol. I use the same color in the summer as well as winter, it's strange, the foundation seems to change with my skin tone.

Not an animal person I don’t dislike them I just don’t want to own them or rather have them own me. I have a relative that brings her dogs over when she visits and puts them on my furniture and gives them free reign of my house. I like her dog just please respect that my home is now and will be pet free. I’m with you on dogs in shops and restaurants And don’t like them jumping on me. My rant over now!
I started using Laura Geller foundation about 5 months ago. I really like how easy it is to apply and it lasts well on me.

My daughter got attacked by a dog and we had to make a complaint they told us if a dog approaches you just turn your back to it. I do it whenever a dog runs up the owners look quite offended that I don’t want pat their dogs. But the dog just stops in their tracks. I love dogs but hate it when they jump up. ❤❤

Dear Caroline, I have been a massive fan of yours for a few years. As a black Labrador mum of two when I read the title of your UA-cam video I thought🙄 😡 But you are so right in what you said. I would never ever take our two into a clothes shop or let them run off lead at someone. I don’t particularly like cats but it’s unlikely they would jump at me ! Your hair looks fab BTW x
Labradors are my fave dogs, such lovely personalities. If I was to choose a dog, it would be a lab for sure!
Agree with you regarding dogs, my daughter has a severe phobia after she was badly attacked 10 years ago, owner left the scene and police never found them. After therapy she can just about walk past a dog if absolutely necessary but it's still extremely difficult for her. Shops and restaurants are enclosed spaces and dogs shouldn't be in there. We don't hate dogs whatsoever but I'm afraid some dog owners are very selfish and inconsiderate. We have 2 indoor cats and always check with guests that they're ok with them being around. Some people have a genuine fear of animals, it doesn't make them bad people.

I bought the Laura Geller and yes I found it a bit darker than I expected. I love powder foundation and wear Jane Iredale. Lovely.
Loved the rant of the week Caroline I like cats and dogs but with you not fond of them running up to me and people saying it's ok they are friendly.. I love Laura Geller I have been using it for years although I'm fair I tend to get it in medium. It's not powder in the sense.of the word but a baked cream ....I don't use anything else.. it is one of the main brands on QVC and lots of videos to look at on there on how to use it etc. The is balance and brighten and also balance.and glow. I'm sure you will like it. I love the retractable brush it comes with on QVC... Looks forward to your review on it.
We’d like a dog but simply don’t have the lifestyle to keep one. We’re both teachers and so are out of the house all day - not fair on a dog. We do have two, very naughty, cats who are sometimes happy to see us and who are sometimes indifferent at best. We do love them, though.

I too am very nervous about dogs and it has always restricted me taking the children to a park ( years ago) and walking in grassy areas. However it seems now that they are everywhere - dogs were never in shops, apart from assistance ones, nor in restaurants etc. I also find it a problem in booking hotels - all now seem pet friendly, they are not listed as No dogs allowed, so you have to scroll through all the Information to check each hotel. Very frustrating.
I have dogs and cats , our dogs are working dogs but also family members (to us) . But I’d never allow them to run up to strangers and jump on them , they are very well trained to be honest and obey commands quickly. The cats on the other hand are a law unto themselves. I don’t treat my dogs as if they are human or babies , they are a beautiful species of their own, and not everyone wants them to be up close and personal lol . Great vlog as always .
You're right about cats being a law unto themselves. My cat Reg, who died a few years ago, ALWAYS used to want to sit on a friend of mine who can't stand cats, it was like he had a sixth sense and always headed for him as soon as he arrived. I got to the stage a couple of times that I had to put Reg in a different room when my friend visited, as he was such a pest!

So glad you found the Daily Connoisseur - she is nice isn't she. Her mother in law is Jane Winkworth who owns French Sole who you've probably heard of and I believe her husband runs the American branch of the company. She has four children, they are home schooled ( I think by tutors ) but, like you, I'm astounded that, with four children - two of whom are boys ) she can keep her clothes white!! I don't own any white clothes as they would be permanently in the washing machine :-)

Agree with you re dogs. I was in a departmental store in Scarborough last year and the lady owner allowed the dog to sniff each item which was on a low display unit, scarves, handbags, jewellery etc. I was ‘gobsmacked’. Later that day in a cafe having lunch, the tables were close together and there were two dogs, Boxer size, nearby. One of them, not on lead, came over and tried to sniff my lunch! The the two dogs fell out and started fighting. All of this in the confines of a small cafe. No, dogs should not be near food. With regard to the Laura Geller Balance and Brighten: have used that for years. I do prefer the Balance and Glow. LG have a collapsible brush to use with it (Kabucki style). Marvellous to load up with product and take out in your bag. Quick whizz round anytime to freshen up, as you don’t need a mirror. You are looking very tanned Caroline, positively glowing. I can see you are excited and so looking forward to your holiday. Have a lovely time.
I like dogs, but sometimes dog owners drive me nuts, particularly the ones who don’t pick up poop after them. The owner in the shop should’ve noticed that their dog had spat out the biscuit and cleaned it up. Obviously in general I’m more of a cat person. Ron is beautiful.
Dog owner here x 2 and I totally agree Pamela. Dog owners who don’t pick up after their dogs drive me spare. I always say if they cannot pick up after their own dogs then they shouldn’t be allowed to own dogs. I also love cats and would love one but my husband has drawn the line at 2 dogs 😂❤

I'm with you about the dogs , we spent the 1st week of July in Shaldon & Teignmouth , and by golly they were everywhere ,i don't think they should be in shops at all , also resturants is a total no no, they get under your feet , and it can't be much fun for the dog.....if you go on QVC, they have loads of laura gellar stuff , the foundation is a baked cream , so it goes on like a powder , but turns into a cream....i quite like it because it colour corrects , due to the swirly pigments , i'm sure you will like it ....Anyway you have a super duper holiday and get some much needed sunshine .....take care xx💖💖💖
Hi Caroline. Totally agree about dogs. I am a dog and cat owner but I hate it when strange dogs run up to me when I'm out dog walking. Had an awful experience last year when a dog ran up and attacked mine. Clamped its jaws around my poor dogs front leg, horrible and all the owner said was "bad puppy" to her vicious dog😡

@@CarolineMrsM thank you. He has puncture wounds in his leg and had problems walking for a couple of weeks. Definitely has made me very nervous when I see a dog off its lead.

I’m definitely not a white clothes person at all as much as I thunk white looks so nice, I would just be so worried about getting any marks on my clothes especially when eating ( I would have to wear a sort of bib!! 😂😂) 😂😊

I was bit by a dog as a child and still get nervous around them - some dog owners seem to think everyone loves dogs (I’m also wary of cats 😂)

My husband is allergic to dogs with his asthma, and many a time we've been out for a walk and a dog comes running over to him and he just turns away. And on a couple of occasions we have politely asked the owners to take the dogs away because of my husbands asthma. One owner told us that he shouldn't be out walking if dogs are a problem to him..😮

Hi Caroline! Great vlog as ever! American politics, yes, like us Hobson's choice I think. And Kamala Harris just seems incapable of saying anything that makes any sense. I am a massive dog lover and I have to say, dogs are never the problem - it's always the owners! But the trouble with saying dogs shouldn't be in certain places because of the hygiene factor is that in my view you then need to think what about people who stink and have poor hygiene? Lots of those around, also little kids with snotty noses, sticky hands and food all over their faces..? Should they be allowed in shops and restaurants? I was in M&S recently, there was a kid in a pushchair who was absolutely minging! Mother also looked a bit of a soap dodger to be frank. Anyway, the kid was brushing those filthy, sticky hands over all the clothes as it was pushed past. 🤢 Dogs are definitely cleaner than that! 😂 Xx

I know it was a serious thing with that lady falling, it was just the way you told the story, gave me a very much needed laugh after a very stressful day, and i feel much better for it. I also wanted to add, i have exactly the same throw from Temu, and it is like the photo, also so soft. I think maybe the way that throw was packaged could have flattened it maybe...what a shame.

Yes there are more dogs about than ever … I hate dogs in shops and cafes , restaurants etc …I am a dog owner , I’ve had dogs All my life , I work dogs etc and they are my companions as is my cat and my pony … but I hate dogs in any shop food etc situations… nowadays the ferry here is full of them upstairs … if I go away and take a dog it’s stays in the car , it sleeps it feels happy and isn’t upstairs , howling , barking and genuinely being a nuisance…. Being allowed upstairs was for those coming home at foot passengers .. there was never a problem ..in the past …
The Brits sometimes think more of dogs than they do of humans. I wouldn’t kiss a dog or have it on my bed but it doesn’t make me a bad person.

I have 2 dogs and always try to be mindful of the impact they can have on others. I think many a ‘lock down dog’ is problematic due to not being socialised / trained properly by owners who did not (do not) have a clue.
I am a big fan of Laura Geller foundation - QVC do some great offers!

Lovely vlog Caroline, I really enjoy your weekly vlogs. On the subject of dogs, I love dogs and cats, and owned both over the years. We currently have the most beautiful, loving and amiable working cocker spaniel who is super friendly and just wants to be friends with everyone, however we would never allow her to run up to people as, to be frank it’s irresponsible, of course if someone wants to say hello to her they are more than welcome. I’d never take her into a shop, apart possibly from pet shops, I do like being able to take her into a pub, but a restaurant? No I don’t think so. Waffled on long enough 😂 Looking forward to your cruise vlog and I hope you have a super time 🤩
Spaniels are the best, so loving. We currently have an English Cocker Spaniel and a Clumber Spaniel and I have previously owned a King Charles Spaniel in the past, along with 3 cats, over the years ♥️

Hi Caroline, I think that a cat who keeps sneezing should see a vet. It might be Astma or other things, and seeing a vet is important.

Dogs don’t get me started! My daughter has just had to move house as she ended up surrounded by people who have acquired dogs ( there were none when she moved in and it’s the same residents) so much so that she couldn’t even use her garden, exit her house without them all barking and made it very difficult for her to concentrate when working from home because of all the barking. Dogs in restaurants are a definite no no but seems to be becoming the norm. My brother had his meal eaten from his plate whilst in a restaurant as the owner didn’t have control. Working dogs I.e. guide and hearing I have no problem with as they are trained and know how to behave. That’s my rant !

I use the Estée Lauder powder foundation, I like it. I have used the Bobbi Brown one as well which was good but they brought out a liquid to powder version which I got and didn’t like at first, I re tried it and now love it.

Was there a dog show on or something or a dog convention?? I love dogs but I don't like them running up or jumping up on me, and I don't like some dog owners leaving dog poop on the ground, or hanging in a bag on a tree!! 😮😂
No, I don't think there was a dog related event. There do seem to be more than ever, particularly in shops and restaurants, since the pandemic. I think a lot of people got dogs in lockdown.

Totally with you re dogs in restaurants and shops. There really is no need. Dogs running off the lead towards people is thoughtless on the owners part. Not everyone is nimble enough to leap out of the way.
I witnessed a dog urinating on a Christmas tree in a local store. I don't think the owner noticed and would have cared if he did. Dogs should not be inside restaurants and definitely not grocery stores. I wonder how far this leniency will go.

I'm not a dog person either. I was attacked by a dog when I was very young also. I have two cats who rules the house.
Agree about dogs. I dont understand them in restaurants. Ive had meals with dogs shaking themselves beside me. So unhygenic. I was brought up with dogs and know none of them would have enjoyed being dragged through shops or restaurants. They were happier all cosy at home

Well at least the US situation has now sorted out. I really dislike the President of the US being referred to as “Leader of the Free World”. The rest of us do not get to elect the President. We all have independent governments.
I use the phrase 'Leader of the Free World' because America is the most dominant economic and military power in the democratic world. I don't like or dislike the phrase, I just feel it's factual.
You are not going to forget your father's last year's or the help and kindness of the care home - but perhaps it is time to unsubscribe to the letters if they make you sad.

Honestly I have no tan, I use sunless tanner body lotion and a similar thing on my face!

like that handbag thing..I always put my leg through my bag so it doesnt get stolen..I totally agree with you about dogs and remember I had to stop wearing a lovely red dress as it seemed to be like a magnetic to them!
