I used to run one of the main 3d print shops for warmaster and 6mm epic scale on Etsy a few years ago. Glad to see there's still plenty of interest in it. I was never brave enough to try painting them but saw some of my customers paintjobs and they were incredible!
10mm is a fantastic scale! Excited to see what you do with the scale. Contrast/speed paint does work beautifully with the Forest Dragon figures on a white undercoat.
What a coincidence, just yesterday I decided to start a Warmaster army and was looking for 10mm models, Forest Dragon offerings look great, going to print some myself as well.
You glossed over the most interesting bit... Warmaster Battlemaster. Very interested in that... oh, and welcome to 10mm fantasy! It is a great scale to play and paint.
Look I didn’t need more projects lined up but dammit you convinced me. I looked into Warmaster and Warmaster revolution a few weeks back and scrolled Myminifactory and other STL depositories and so nearly pulled the trigger. Just as I thought I dodged the bullet and forgot about getting into 10mm you drag me back in!
I now only play miniature games using 10mm scale and below. It lets you field huge armies and play real battles that look like battles, instead of skirmishes.
I prefer 15-18mm for skirmish games. Easier to paint up, easier to store (especially the terrain). We play a lot of 15mm Bolt Action this way. We keep all the rules the same (including measuring distance). The longer weapon ranges feel more realistic and the boards look epic with all the buildings.
I love small scale minis. So fun to paint. I went all in on Epic Warpath. Will probably never play a game but I'm looking forward to having them to paint!
One of the 3D sculptors you high lighted, Minirat, is Ukrainian. He's not producing new models right now because he's literally in the field, defending his country right now. Last post was Feb 2024.
I really enjoy argatoria. The minis are really nice resin. Minimal clean up too. They have an orc army coming soon too that should be on kickstarter soon.
I would say don’t discount 10mm for more skirmish style games also. It’s nice to have a big horde of models on one or two stands. The game board can be condensed and your scale seems bigger because of the little figures. Plus it travels much better.
Couple small scale mini agnostic ranked games to check out: Fantastic Battles, and M2 monsters and magic a mod of To the strongest. What I like about them is that in melee combat defenders attack back. Makes combat feel more dynamic.
How handy It must be to be able to print a whole army in one batch! Instead of buying a new set of miniatures, you could also just scale down your one page rules STLs.

I have collected most of these armies and print them at 15mm. They all print great and paint great.

Oooooo, perfect timing!!!
I just bought my first 10mm Copplestone fantasy figures last week!

What is Warmaster Battlemaster? I’m really interested in the sound of this.

Yes please go into more detail about battlemasters to the scale of warmaster. Super curious

Yesss! Another 42,000 potential players! Excellent. 10mm is such a fun scale for wargaming.

Before anyone ask, no, painting 10mm minis is not faster or easier than 28mm, unless you want to do it wrong.
Thanks for covering this! I only seen Forest dragons minis not the others.

That’s my high elf army! Hope you enjoyed our battle report on armoured brush minis
Very excited to get my mantic epic warpath to give the smaller scale a go!

IMO, this is the best scale for these mass battle type games.

Fantastic Battles is pretty great. I've tried it a couple times now and there's lots to like about it.

You can also use Time of Legends Joan of Arc minis for 15mm scale army / terrain and monsters
I use that terrain for 10mm as well. Works fine.
I'm really wanting to try out some smaller scale games. It makes so much more sense for mass battle games.
Battle master was called "Claymore Saga" in Germany. Sounds better to me.
Maybe you would try Kings of War or Argatoria
Does anyone know where to find 10-15mm Dragonlance printable minis?

the original Epic was 6mm tho, and Legions Imperialis is 8mm
