My wife and I toured that Jennie wade house, really something, those bullet holes and all that history! One thing out there that really got my attention was all the holes bored into the wood floors in some of those churches out there, I asked a tour guide what all the holes were all about, he said it was to drain all the soldiers blood…. Really crazy to even imagine what took place in that little town over the course of a few days, really blows me away!! Another great video, thank you for sharing.
You're welcome Daniel; thanks again for your thoughts. I never knew about the holes in the floors and why thing...absolutely incredible info. Gettysburg is one sacred place...never gets old. HMM
HMM, another great video! Man, If you do a Civil War series, I'd be absolutely stoked. When I was in Officer Candidate School, I had the opportunity to get a guided tour by Dr. Carol Reardon. She is one of the country's foremost experts on the Civil War. It was mind blowing.
What an amazing experience! Man I'd love to do more Civil War stuff. I could actually do one now from all the footage I brought back from Gettysburg this year...but I've never produced it. For whatever reasons - maybe it's out of my niche? - but when I do American history, battlefields, small town America, etc., the viewer engagement is low. One answer would be to create another channel, but I can't really keep up with one, let alone two. Thanks for your continued support. HMM
@HistoryMysteryMan I give you credit for going after it. I barely have time to watch videos, let alone make them. I think what drew me to your Fitzgerald series is the personal connection. You made it relatable and brought us all into the life of CPT. McSorley. It's like learning of our own personal family history. If I were to suggest anything, find the hook that makes the Civil War relevant to us again. I know...easier said than done...lol. Again, whichever way you go, you have a fan here. You're doing more than me, so I won't complain either way.
Sound advice, and I'm grateful for it. The part about the hook that makes the stories relevant makes a lot of sense. Always appreciate your support...HMM@@waynestock2006
One HALLOWEEN weekend we did a ghost story in the cellar of the Jenny Wade house then walked to the Farnsworth House for their basement ghost stories. I love discovering more things every time I visit town. Great insights on the Address
You got it Robert. It won't be a big seller, but I had fun doing it. Took me forever, because I graduated to the Final Cut video editor from iMovie...hell of a learning curve for me...gunna be a while before I figure it out. HMM
Man I love Gettysburg. I brought a lot of video back from my trip this last summer...but whenever I post battlefield and/or Civil War videos they get very few views. I'd do more if I thought folks would watch...so thanks for watching! HMM
You're welcome MissTerri. Gettysburg is so amazing...it never gets old for me. I have tons more footage from my trip to Gettysburg, but I'm hesitant to show it because the views are so low when I do battlefield stuff. I love the area too...absolutely gorgeous. I'm planning another return trip this year. Thanks...HMM
I think the monument IS the spot. It is highly unlikely they would have disinterred some many graves of different families and moved them, unless they were building a road or other eminent domain project.
What an incredible and interesting story and tour. Would I sleep in that cellar overnight? Heck no! I’m not so sure I’d even venture down there during the daytime. So, thanks for letting me see it and the grounds. Great stuff, as usual, HMM!
Thank you HMM for posting this video. Found it very interesting how Jennie's family house is not only still in existence but like a time capsule, but there is question about the exact spot Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address. Also did you feel the presence of any spirits or anything paranormal while on the battlefield at night. That must have been very eerie! I would love to visit Gettysburg again, the last time I went I was 9 or 10 years old and really didn't understand and especially appreciate the circumstances of the battle.
You're welcome Gregg. I'd sure love to do more videos on battlefields, small-town America and American history in general, but I can't seem to get very many folks to watch that sort of stuff. Other people do it and draw big numbers, but I can't seem to hit on it. In fact, I brought back a lot of battlefield footage from Gettysburg, but I never did anything with it because I didn't think enough people would be interested. To answer your question on being on the battlefield at night...I wasn't out there very long because it creeped me out, so I'm not sure I had enough time to settle in and take it all in like I wanted to. I felt something beyond being scared, but I can't describe it. When I got back to my car in the visitors parking lot, I had someone waiting on me, asking questions as to why I was out there. You're not supposed to be on the battlefield at night. Needless to say, I never went back out...thanks. HMM
No problem HMM. I'm not sure how UA-cam works in terms of algorithms/videos promoted on other videos and their pages, but it's surprising how popular some of your videos are and others aren't. One of your Trey Osborne videos has 158,000 views but a Tyler Courtney one has 2300? Regardless I appreciate all of your efforts, and even though you have a lot of content I hope to eventually watch all of the videos you posted. And I can only imagine how that felt being on that battlefield at night. I kind of figured it might not be permitted, but hey you only live once!
Thanks again, Gregg. Yeah...that's me...just do it; then beg for forgiveness...always been my approach. My audience is particular in what they want...and as best as I can tell. battlefields and small town America are not on the list. HMM@@greggrauscher34
@@HistoryMysteryManwhat's the saying "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" lol, definitely applies in this case! And that seems to be the case (your audience is particular in what they want), but just keep doing what you enjoy.
Good morning HMM. I would sleep in that basement I don't think anything would hurt you. Thanks for the history lesson. 🤠👍 Brian. You should check into Dynamite Dock it my be a good subject for you to cover.
Thanks for sharing

Very interesting. Thanks for the insight and tour. Enjoyable as always

Agree 👍
Our Gettysburg visit provided the most powerful sense of spiritual presence that I have ever experienced.

@@HistoryMysteryMan It's just sad how few younger folks are interested in our history...
I hear you, but I'm always encouraged when I find some who are...thanks! HMM@@riverbender9898
Gettysburg is about a three hour drive from me and one of my favorite places to visit.
Thank you for this video.

Thanks HMM I can't say I ever heard of Jennie before now, very cool video
You're welcome Lyle; thanks for taking the time to watch. HMM

Very good point. The monument location makes more sense to me too. Appreciate your feedback...thanks Jeffrey. HMM
I would consider it a honor to be able to stay in the basement of the Jennie Wade house overnight.
Whoa! You're on of the brave ones! HMM

Dynamite Dock happened in Toledo a nitro glycerin loading mishap on a loading dock to a ship in the 1880's I believe@@HistoryMysteryMan
why dose no one ever mention the three headstone with the fingers pointing 🤔 it's by the fence near where you were
I wasn't aware of those three headstones with the fingers pointing. HMM
