Nice story you tell about this famous Baker Hotel in Minerarel wells in Texas state, was glad to see that this historic hotel was remodeled and renovated after so many years of decay...Looking for ward to the day of the reopening....of this hotel which was build in 1929. Watching this video from Paramaribo in Suriname.
From an article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Published January 18, 1948 Elevator Operator at Mineral Wells Killed MINERAL WELLS Jan 17 1948 - Douglas Gerald Moore 16 elevator operator at the Baker Hotel here was fatally injured late Friday night when he attempted to enter a service elevator at the hotel after it had started up He died several hours later in a hospital. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Aaron Moore. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. If anyone can tell me the years that the supposed jumpers (possible suicide and/or drunkenness) occurred, I'll be happy to hunt down the article.
I live in Mineral Wells, Tx. My mom told me she worked at the soda fountain the on the 2nd floor. Mom was born in 1928. 9-27-2023

I knew a Jackie Gruben in the early 1960s, he was a bricklayer lived in Weatherford . He died young. He had a brother named Gary.
Probably, at least distant relatives. I haven’t heard of them from my parents.
