Love to see Mr Walters face when Davy Dave's LP lands on his doormat along with a 'Happy Birthday' card from the Gilmour clan.:)

You know what, I only recently bought a vinyl reissue of the Division Bell, after all these years. I remember it being released but never paid much attention. Think I was firmly in Camp Waters back then! But I like it a lot. This new track offers quite a bit of hope that we'll get an album of a similar quality to the DB.
Nice new Dave Gilmour song. And, as you've said it, Darren, it got this "Division Bell" flavour in it. And yes, overall, it's a catchy tune.
Been waiting to hear your opinion on this since I heard it last week, and once again I agree with what you are saying, Will be interesting to hear the next song released
Agreed. Almost enjoyable really sums it up.
I like it 👍 the Piper's call.. at the gates of dawn...
It's pretty good, but I am still nervous about ordering the vinyl... it might be that this is the best track on the album by some margin, which means the album overall could be a bit dull.
That's what streaming's for!
@@TheDarrenLock But what about FOMO??
Stream it, if you like it, buy it...
Fully agree with you Darren on this one. I wasn't a massive fan of Rattle That Lock (although it did grow on me a bit, eventually) and I had a certain trepidation when pressing play on this. But, no, its good! In fact I think its rather good. The lyrics, as per most the post-Waters output, are clunky. The missus might be an accomplished novelist bit neither her nor hubby are lyricists. But the song is good. I particularly like the Les Paul wielding solo which isn't really "typical" Gilmour. The influence of the new kid on the block producer maybe?
Spot on review Mr. Darren that Lock!!! Haha I totally agree with your view of this song. I don't have huge expectations for this new album but if he tours he's gonna piss off a lot of Floyd fans if he doesn't play lots of Floyd. If he play Mihalis or Short and Sweet or Murder from his first 2 albums that would be a nice trade off for some Floyd.
I thought it was mildly pleasant as well.
I think On an Island is a mellow listening experience and has some sublime guitar moments, Rattle is ok, a bit gimmicky in places, but this, I'm not sure, so I'm going to wait until it's released to make a decision, (omg, will I miss out on the limited coloured vinyl edition? Which colour to go for? Any Colour You Like?) It has hints of his first solo album, with the solos I'd say, using phrases from the More/Obscured by Clouds era Floyd.
I like it, sounds good. Lyrics aren't that impressive, I recently read a comment somewhere that said Polly has a tin ear for writing lyrics that flow well when sung and it was kind of a lightbulb moment for me. I do think she has her moments but there's a lot of weird missteps too that just don't sit/sound right.
The lyrics indeed let it down. Makes me cringe a bit tbh. Oh well, let's wait and see if the next single release (if there is one) is as good musically. Try and stay positive!
Darren's review of Gilmour's new song is insightful. It's great to see Gilmour experiment with new ideas while acknowledging his past work with Pink Floyd. The lyrics are a significant improvement, but there is room for growth, and it would be exciting to see Gilmour write more songs on his own. The guitar and production are impressive, but it's challenging to compare it to Pink Floyd's works since they were unique in their way. Nonetheless, Gilmour's solo works are outstanding, and I look forward to hearing more from him.
The songs alright. Lets be honest with ourselves though the albums gonna be sleep inducing like the rest of his solo stuff and we all know it deep down
I’m trying to be optimistic here! 😂😂😂 (But yes…)
Really did not like this song at all to be honest.
