    So if there is already old paint on the floor that doesn’t pull up from tape, then no acid wash and just roll right over it - right?

    • @breakwoodcarpentry48
      @breakwoodcarpentry48  3 роки тому

      That’s what the directions say. You’ll find most people online recommend to remove all paint but sometimes it’s just not feasible.

    im moving to new home soon, brand new built, do i need grind the garage before concrete?

    • @breakwoodcarpentry48
      @breakwoodcarpentry48  3 роки тому +1

      If the concrete is new then you’ll need to let it cure for 30 days. You shouldn’t have to grind anything, just use the provided acid etch.

    • @andremzk
      @andremzk 3 роки тому +2

      As a professional installer - I would always grind. Acid etching doesn’t create enough of a profile for epoxy to hold on to. You wouldn’t believe how many of these DIY floors end getting redone by pros when that epoxy starts chipping away.

    • @raulyrod
      @raulyrod 3 роки тому

      @@andremzk Do you have to acid etch if you grind it? im halfway done with grinding my floors and plan on doing this rocksolid deal.. just want to follow to best steps that will preserve the epoxy for as long as possible

    • @andremzk
      @andremzk 3 роки тому

      @@raulyrod if you do a good enough job grinding, you won’t need to acid etch. We use large commercial-grade grinders. Never acid etch. Floors last for a long time.
      Make sure to use a dust extractor when grinding with a min N95 / P100 mask. Silica dust is very harmful.

    • @andremzk
      @andremzk 3 роки тому

      @@breakwoodcarpentry48 not true. New or old concrete - all concrete is finished to a smooth surface. Acid etching won’t open up the pores. It has to be mechanically profiled.
      DYI installations are the most common that end up getting redone by installers like myself. Ultimately ends up costing homeowners a lot more.
