I’ve been looking for several minutes and haven’t found one positive comment about Howard Stern. Jump the shark is not strong enough phrase. Howard Stern is now officially a boob.
There were definitely stories of Richard Simmons. Howard had someone on back in the day that claimed to be a male escort who had serviced Richard. He even said it was well known within that community that Richard was a frequent customer. I believe he said Richard liked getting beat.
Stern should have retired after his first SiriusXM contract was up. He hung around too long and now most of his original fans despise him (it seems mutual as he despises his original fans too). What made Howard’s show great for 4 hours is his cast of characters who work for him. Howard is nothing without them as the show is literally boring these days. Howard sort of got exposed that he couldn’t carry a show as that’s what he is trying to do now. He needed Jackie or Artie, or Gary, etc just as much as they needed him. I know his defenders will say Gary, Robin and Fred are still there, but it’s not the same. The spark isn’t there anymore. Just listen to any show on UA-cam from the 90’s and there was something going every minute to keep the audience engaged.
The Artie era was the peak. After that, it died. It’s actually embarrassing to listen to him now. He’s so incredibly boring. Also, He’s hated for good reason. Schilling for the jab, constantly fear mongering for Covid. I imagine Beth absolutely has nothing to do with him. He’s truly a pathetic human being.
Howard will never retire - and neither would anyone else when Sirius is backing up a truck with a hundred million dollars in it to your door. But I can't believe anyone who was a Howard fan 20 years ago would actually still listen today. I can see how a new fan might get into his show - if all you know is the mild comedy and defanged staff antics, and the by-the-numbers celebrity interviews, and that appeals to you, then good for you. But anyone who was into the Jackie and Artie eras, and still listens hoping to be entertained is incomprehensible to me. I can't understand how you could enjoy both versions of the show, then AND now.
I had a dream the other night that Howard transferred his brain into a young body so he could continue doing his show for decades longer... It was a nightmare. Just let it die.
Great insights guys. Very entertaining. I hope you consider breaking down Howard’s show more often. Great content and way more entertaining that what’s left of Howard’s show.

The PROBLEM is (& Howard is aware), Podcasts are 'Basically' the same thing HIS show is. If he accepts them as legit, people (and sirius) understand that he is WAY overpaid. 😐
I genuinely believe Howard's Guitar Center story is true. The man has more money than any of us could fathom, and yet he's so tight, and cheap he makes it a segment of his show to talk about him buying a Taylor guitar. If I had Howard's money, I'd be buying a Gibson Murphy Lab guitar like once or twice a week. Howard legitimately is a tight SOB. Howard really did turn into a weird dude, but if you listen back to like early 90s you could hear little hints of the person that Howard would eventually become.
So glad you guys covered this. Not only is the Stern show overly political now, but I hate that he acts curious about people who think differently. If he was truly curious he'd have people on to discuss and debate the issues like he used to years ago. We know he doesn't allow that anymore, but he should stop pretending he wants to understand other perspectives.
Howard Stern is controlled by Black Rock and they tell him what to promote, how to think, who to hire and who to employ. That's why HS isn't allowed to be as free to say as he use to on KROCK. In my opinion Artie had to go because Black Rock or some other hedge-fund outfit bought into SiriusXM and started censoring the show, then started to cut costs. Money isn't as important as HS pushing their narrative, neither is the show quality.
