The problem with so many of these natural products is that they are way more expensive. For homes that do not have a lot of income, it can be very difficult to be green.

I completely agree. I try to use green cleaning products as much as I can, but with rising prices, it’s getting difficult. I’d like to switch to laundry strips instead of liquid Tide, but the budget just won’t accommodate that right now.
The same goes for other things too. I’d love to eat more organic and local foods rather than factory made foods, but they are much more expensive, so I end up buying the stuff that comes from factories, who don’t use green procedures at all to produce their food.
I’d also love to get an electric car for groceries and such, but I do a lot of long highway drives and haul stuff, so I drive my truck everywhere. I can’t afford two vehicles at the moment.
So while I would love to be green, because we HAVE to right now or else our world will die, I financially cannot and it sucks.

I really wish more of the "clean" and "free" products that companies sell were more affordable. Like, I love the idea of using a glass spray bottle but there is no way I'm paying $12 for a bottle. And the branch basics products are quite expensive as well. Just my tow cents (as that's all I have 😛).

This video disappointed me because of the misleading use of "detox". I am not trying to argue that a persons body more/less easily picks up and removes *certain* chemicals, that is very true! The best way could be to remove the chemicals your body has a hard time with (with doctors/apothecary advice), but things that claim to be toxic free rarely are. Chemicals toxicity is dependant on dosage ("clean" products usually have a harder time regulating that) and everything consists of chemicals. Even the purest water is a chemical.
I do believe in removing chemicals that truly is harming you (but that doesn't mean it is harming everybody else too) and the best "detox" is to drink water and having a liver (or other blood filter).
I am not here to argue with people, I just want to inform that this detox trend can be risky.

      @kirstygraham3781 Рік тому

@@piyumik9841 I think people get scared when certain chemicals are in our day to day items but what people don’t realise is some of the chemicals is stuff our body needs like fluoride for out teeth! Hi Ro! I’m not sure if this has already been mentioned, but beeswax candles are actually the healthiest and greenest candles to have in your home. While soybean farming practices can leave behind risk of exposure to pesticides, beeswax candles are biodegradable and do not go through any chemical processing. They are environmentally friendly and non-toxic, burn brighter and cleaner (less soot due to burning hotter). When burned, beeswax produce negative ions which attract positive ions (dust, pollen, mild, door, etc.) so they help clean the air, all while giving off a gentle, sweet scent. They are the only kind of candles I use in my home, and you can support many small bee farms in your switch. Please let us know if you try them!

Not only are candles bad for you to burn inside, no matter how natural. They actually cause a lot of a/C problems. I'm in fl and my neighbor had her ac guy come to do a maintenance and he didn't even walk inside and he knew she burned candles. He told her the biggest thing he would recommend is to stop immediately. Also I stick to showers, baths waste way too much water. The natural deodorant quest is different for everyone, lume is ok, we're trying lafes right now so 🤞. For the sunscreen I use green people’s one. It’s reef safe completely organic, animal cruelty free, vegan and I think a few other things, but it is more expensive.btw love you Ro ❤

Thank you for sharing. Remember to have a good air purifier that filters VOCs and other toxic gases (I suggest the IQ Air MultiGas) and to buy organic and naturally dyed clothes.

I absolutely love this video!! Way to go on being more healthier!! I use Little Seed Farm’s deodorant. One of my faves. I also use branch basics! I love my Fontana candles! I use viori as well! It does so much for my hair! With dry shampoo be careful of butane as well. It’s horrible for us to breathe in. If I use anything that has it in it my air doctor air purifier kicks into high gear! Definitely would like to see more videos on how you’re detoxing!

Lovely video and great that you put in so much homework before buying things. Now that we are talking sustainability, it's probably better to also reduce the number of products to use. Why have a toothpaste and a tooth tablet? Why have a shampoo bar and a shampoo? ❤

The water and vinegar window cleaner is really old school and I think about 5 generations of my family have used it. In the UK a brand called "STARDROPS" (a quite old brand too) sell it in a spray bottle, but my family have always just bought regular bottles (as in food kind) in the supermarket, refilled spray bottles or used in buckets(mix with dish soap too if you've got really dirty glass.) I use diluted vinegar to clean produce too by either adding some neat vinegar to a full sink or spraying them with diluted vinegar and wiping them down.
Have you tried making your own fabreeze by disolving baking soda in boiling water, letting it cool, pouring into a spray bottle and adding essential oils? You can use it as room spray too if you add witch hazel/ vodka etc in there so it might help in bathroom situations. One thing I would note is that oils that have a colour to them can stain surfaces so be careful there and that its advisable to spray soft surfaces like curtains or bath mats to avoid oil slicks. Leave the essential oils out and it will still deodorise fabrics without adding additional smell. I use it without essential oils on my dog's blankets so they don't stink the place out or irritate their skin since one is a breed known for having sensitive skin. I'm also looking into making my own reed diffusers using oil of some kind, witch hazel and essential oil so I can reuse a decorative reed diffuser glass that I really like and don't want to throw out and as a cost saving measure since even the really 'toxic' ones are kind of expensive.

Your bathroom is the size of our apartment. I am not joking whatsoever.
Ah ha! I LOVE Not Your Mothers shampoo! I use it all the time! The smell is wonderful! And all natural!
We’ve been doing the green thing since I was a kid. VERY sensitive skin, lots of allergies to pretty much everything, and we really don’t want nasty things even near our bodies. Quite expensive so we’ve had to slow down for budgeting reasons. As soon as it opens up again we shall continue!
A lot of very interesting tidbits about toxics and plastics in things you wouldn’t even think had them in them! I really did not know that toilet paper had plastics in them! Yikes.
Those organizational bins would be great to use for sorting LEGOs! Do they come with lids?
Would be very nice to be as orderly as you are Ro! I’m more a chaos organized person, looks like a mess but I know exactly where things are! If we had more space in this small apartment we could totally reorganize! Alas, the space in here isn’t great for 4 people now (used to be 3) and feeling very cramped all over the place.
One of these days we’re getting an actual house with the appropriate amount of space for 4 people! This apartment is for 2 people not 4 and it’s half the size of the previous one we had in 2019 when we moved. A 3 bedroom, 2 bath would be perfect for us! And plenty of space for everyone! Bigger rooms, an actual kitchen/dining room, a real living room, a place to display all my nerdy things instead of keeping them in plastic totes!
I am quite jealous of how big your house is Ro! Even our old house could fit in there 3x times over! Your house is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen!
