Meet Sam - Our Grand Cayman Blue Iguana

Meet Sam, our Grand Cayman blue iguana.
Did you know there are approximately 35 species of iguana? These different species make their home in habitats like rocks or trees. The Grand Cayman blue iguana can only be found on the Grand Cayman Island in the dry, rocky forests in coastal areas, which may contain cactus and other thorny plants.
Iguanas are cold-blooded fascinating creatures.
They are thought to have come to the United States on cargo boats around the 1960s, but because these colorful reptiles are not native to the U.S., they are not protected from hunting or being caught and sold into the pet trade.
While the green iguana is thriving and doing well in numbers, some species, such as the Grand Cayman blue iguana (our very own featured in this video), are endangered!
