We have this going on right now (popped up over the weekend.....it grows so fast!) Thanks for posting, gave me a bit of relief to know it's not catastrophic.
Count it as a little unsightly win, get some hermits to help. Thanks for watching
I can watch clownfish swim forever
I just started getting brown bloom on my first ever reef. Nice vid 😎
Diatoms in fresh/salt tanks is great. It makes a awesome feed for micro organism eaters like otocinclus.
I have this starting. So its a good thing.
Thanks for the info, great vid!
I used pool filter sand for my african cichlid tank....it's incredibly cheap and actually I got diatoms bloom and as you say it might be hard to get rid of them.....I will try with chemical filtration reducing silicates and phosphates and I might consider also to get a Bristlenos Pleco (Ancistrus Cirrhosus) that's known to be very effective
Great video,keep it up!
Man i just panicked and thru in chemiclean now i regret it and dont know what to do
How's your tank looking now? I'm in the bloom and diatoms stage with a heavy clean up crew. Great video! Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas, it went all clear within a week. I have the 200ltr set up now, just recording a cyano/dino/algea video at the mo.... going through a bad stability stage at the mo. Thanks for watching
Hello, thanks for the video. May I know how long is consider normal for diatoms to bloom? Once in 3 days consider normal? Thanks
Thank you for this video!!!
Do shrimp 🦐 help with brown algae ?
I started this tank in march and the. The pandemic hit so it just cycled water until july 13th i got two little clowns and did a fish cycle im just starting to get a little of this algae no where near as much as you but it didnt seem to start blooming until after I switched from instant ocean sea salt to red sea pro reef salt anyway i like the tank my clowns seem to be doing well im thinking of getting snail now too.
Get all what you said, but what is causing the bubbles or is it something else floating in the tank. 🤔🏴
Well idk I’m using RODI water 0tds maybe it could be the light? Will a sea snail eat the brown algea? I do have a bag of Fluval bio media which has holes in them could it be that? My salt is instant ocean reef crystal. I do have Carib Sea live sand and CaribSea Life rock, small Macroalgea plant.
Great videos
I'm still panicked lol
Thank you man I don’t have to panic no more I have 2 clowns as well
So it’s safe to say that I can do a water change?.
I’ve been cycling my nano reef for a bit and my ammonia and nitrite have dropped to 0 and my nitrate is at 30 ppm, also having diatom bloom , what should I do next could I add two clownfish as I buy my clean up crew ?
Yeah 2 clowns an some hermits, don't over feed. Keep lights to a few hours until everything balances
Thank u
How soon after seen this brown algie is the cycle done ?
Have you blocked the hole from middle chamber to DT? Its meant to help with the filtration by doing so right?
Can u do me a favour put a pic up with the thermometer stuck on the tank, thinking of getting one but wanna see how It looks and what room it takes up first lol
Cheers
Yeah I blocked it. I got an intank chamber 1 basket and it came with a part to block it.
The fluval thermometer is tiny, I have it on the chamber with the mesh so it doesnt take up any view space
@@HobbyistFishkeeper I never even thought about that, I was thinking to have it as far away as possible from the heater to make sure the heat getting round lol ... Great idea cheers
@@HobbyistFishkeeper thinking of getting that media box yeah, from ebay? Can u throw a link to right one please
Cheers
why not try putting some live oysters on it?
Nice info
Should you cut the lights off or run them as normal
You could do, you can do a 3 day blanket blackout which will help but it will all balance out naturally eventually.
@@HobbyistFishkeeper can I do a blackout if I have macros in the tank?
i still have my saltwater aquarium empty and its full of this brown stuff like on the glass also its full full of it what do i do
Get a couple of crabs to help you out
Haw do i get red of green algae bro
Green algae tends to be too much light? Do a 3 day black out by covering it with towels
Ok cool thanks
Hi I wonder if you would be so kind to help me I have set up this fluval 13.5 and wondered what filter media you have running or if you added any more please help
Hi thanks for watching. What have you currently got in chamber 1?
@@HobbyistFishkeeper at the moment chamber one is empty and the seconded chamber has the stuff that was provided with the tank and chamber 3 has my heater and pump in. This is so different to my tropical set up. And I am very confused 😕 and being doing lots of research but just need to be told if that makes sense
Don't worry, I've been doing this 20+ years and still learn something new every week. Filtration should always go in this order: mechanical - biological - chemical.
Go on ebay and order a evo chamber 1 media basket. This will help you put the sponge in chamber 1. Then you can fill chamber 2 with biological media. If you have the money I recommend biohome ultimate. But I currently have it set up with alfa grog in C2. If you have cloudy water or want to remove any medication out of the water add a small back or carbon or clearblu to C3. If you add me on insta I can send you pics of what I mean.
@@HobbyistFishkeeper hi I have added you in Instagram. The tank has only been set up since Tuesday so want to get it all right. Sorry to be a bother and thank you so much for all your help
Does anyone have a clue how to get rid of these? Because they are super annoying and I don’t really have much money. Can anyone help
Algae Blenny can help ..add him in
Sorry but diatoms does NOT mean it can support any livestock. You could get diatoms and still have ammonia.
