Breakfast time for the goats!

- The first wave of babies have arrived and now that are 3 weeks old, we have begun milking a few mamas in the morning. And the morning routine begins again! We only partially milk the mothers so that they have plenty of breakfast for the kids when they get reunited but it gives everyone some practice for when the kids begin leaving at 8 weeks. I used to think I wanted a life of fresh experiences each day. Now I see there is beauty in thoughtful routine. Opportunities to see things in a new way even when the routine stays the same. We have been helping Rhubarb, who had 5 kids out by giving two of her kids, Plum & Bramble a bottle. It takes the pressure off her and is fun for us! Still 9 more mamas left to kid. The next due date is in 5 days.

To whoever scans the comments, I hope you get a chance to read this. I LOVE what you said (in your video description) about seeing the beauty in thoughtful routine. Someone once said that, as we grow older, we learn that for as much as a life without responsibility seems appealing, it is our responsibilities (to persons, animals, things we hold dear) that actually MAKE our life have meaning. What a great insight you had, and what a cool place you guys run. I'm definitely stopping by on my next road trip to New England.

Another day of joy from the babies, the Mom’s and - the cats. I start smiling and laughing - baby goat therapy and I don’t have to see if my health insurance supports it.

It sounds wired but I just love hearing these little nibblets "baahhh" .... it makes me smile!!
However I had to actually watch it because the sounds were so interesting and I had to see what these new sounds were all about.

Goats have been ancient companions to humans for thousands of yrs. The kids were just as cute back then too. Dwell on the philosophy of it all about meaningful work is a meaningful life, but it’s still so dang funny to see those kids at it in AM.🤔🐐🐐👀🤣💕

I check UA-cam every night before I go to sleep to see if there's another video I can enjoy and share with family and friends. For a long time I was hoping that the farm was located in Western Oregon or Washington since the landscape is similar, but when I saw that you're located in Maine, I immediately started thinking about getting on a plane. Your videos are outstanding and they provide the joy I needed after losing my 8-year old Ragdoll cat "Ted" at the beginning of the pandemic (due to a blood clot). Your goats give me something to smile about since my Ted is no longer with me and I'm grateful that I found your videos. I got to milk cows as a kid....you get to milk goats! You are GOOD people:-)

This looks entirely too much like working for a living. The kids are so cute and it looks like the cats have figured out that if that climb on the top of a fence, no one will bother them. It isn’t going to be long before they will all go to their new homes. I too, will miss them. Always, a great start to the mornings. Life is much better while watching the kids and their mothers.
Someone once told me it's only work if you'd rather be doing something else. :) This year we are lucky to have kids arriving through the end of July, so there will be at least a few all summer long!
Lucky you. Doing something that you love to do. Yesterday, I went by the Moody’s Diner and got New England Boiled Dinner and Indian Pudding, with real whipped cream, to bring home for supper. Some year, I am going to run into you there.

Makes me miss our bunch. Looks like you have Nigerians? t least looks small in the video. We always had Alpine and Saanen. Had to sell the herd (flock) due to health issues. But we have one adult doe, two yearlings, a buck and a wether still. Just for our own milk needs. It`s fun when there is a group of trusting babies, that is the best part of it ;0)

Do the mamas know to get up on the box on their own to be milked, or are they just attracted to the feed box? Either way, I think you have an ingenious milking method, Hope! The babies are getting cuter and cuter. It must be so difficult to part with them but I know you have said they are all going to good homes. Even the cats must get lonesome once they depart! Thank you for posting this wonderful video.
